Since retiring, walking football has become an important part of my life. Recently, I've started taking video footage of some of the games I watch. I often reduce an hour of social play down to four or five minutes of highlights, but if it's a competition match, I tend to include a little more general play. As you will see from my camera-work, I'm no professional - just enjoying life and sharing what I produce with anyone who wants to watch. Often background noise - hammers, drills, lawnmowers - make the sound files unusable, so I often put the clips to royalty-free music.

The culmination of a lot of hard work and much enjoyment! Congratulations, Wakey Whites - onwards and upwards!

The final match of the season saw Whites finish with a 2-0 win - a fantastic campaign. Well done to manager Chris H and his fantastic team!
Match 2 12 12 24 Ribble Valley v Wakey Whites

This was quite a tight game - much faster than the first game. 0-0 was probably a fare result, but I think Ribble were a bit fast getting to the ball and ought to have conceded quite a few running offences. See what you think!

The final round of fixtures and Wakey Whites just need to hold their nerve and play like they have been playing all season. This game was an excellent start and a good signal of intent to the other teams. With a 1-0 win and three more points on the board, Wakey were almost league champions!

Dean was on form today, along with Josh and Graham J. For a walking football session, it was a bit fast. We enjoyed some good banter, but the teams were a bit unbalanced, with blues dominating most games.

Watch out for the two new goal celebrations, created by Dean. This video is also noteworthy because someone known for his toepokes scored a side-foot goal!

Lots of running onto the ball and elsewhere
Not Phill B, the other Phil I mean.
Some well taken goals there in tight games where not many goals overall. Love the headache celebration, my other half , she often does that when I make certain suggestions 😉. Is Phil part of the Trump Campaign team in that gear he's wearing? 😂
Not sure about Dave's Prem celebration. If it had been a Div 1 player celebration I might have known 😉. Love the T for Toepoke celebration! Jan's Shirt off celebration much better choreographed than the shirt off one I did 😆. Looked great fun, sorry to have missed this one.
Guilty as charged!!
Ha ha, I wondered why he kept going 'beep beep'. Great player though nonetheless, never wastes a ball and given chances, will finish.
Some really soft fouls that were all easily avoidable….🤦♂️ Stan’s goal could have been chalked off …..and he needs to walk back after scoring😂
What are the actual rules here regarding running/walking. Seems to me that 2 or 3 people here take huge strides when walking, and even run a few steps when about to shoot, while others respectfully walk.
@@haslammmo9173 You're absolutely right - the videos help them to see what they are doing - not that it changes much. If you stop for every infringement, people complain that they games don't flow. Social sessions are quick, but you should see some of the competitive matches, with proper referees!
It's funny now this sport was introduced with safety as a key aspect of the game. No tackling, no running and if someone falls over or kicks the ball too hard and knocks a player over the game stops. But the irony is that all is safe and well until it comes to the goalkeeper and then it's all bets off!!! Slam it hard and kill the man protecting the goal!! He/she can't even head the ball to save the goal!! Crazy. I know of so many goalkeepers over the age of 70 who now prefer to play on the field because it takes them a long time to recover after a heavy tournament. Bring on no goalies for me. No big deal. Placement rather than power. But hey I can't imagine the mainstream players agreeing to this. And then there are some players who are goalkeepers who like being blasted to bits!!
Good points you make. Maybe the overall point is for people to play a version of the game they feel comfortable and safe with. Far better than not playing at all. I think there needs though to be a mindshift with some players, WF is an older person's game, no shame at all in having these type of games with cones/no keepers. You could even have competition games on this basis but as you rightly say, some players look down their nose a bit at it.
Good idea in the absence of keepers. I think they improve passing a ball more than shooting, a lot of the goals are placement of the ball rather than power.
Like the sub titles TT, brilliant. A mixture of dodgy keeping, defenders too far forward and good finishes made it an unusually high scoring game. The Ref though who allowed Running Man's goal a disgrace, shouldn't ever Referee a game again. Does he need glasses?Wait a minute...that Ref was me doh! 😊😮
I saw the title and thought it might be someone doing a Frank Spencer impression. Then watched the first clip and that's definitely a Frank Spencer impression!

Embarrassing array of skills…..GJ
I’m new to walking football. I have already worked out that players will do what they can get away with. I confess that I’m a crabber. Great vid btw.
Brilliant footage again TT👍
Quality TT production again, well done Dave! The goal near the end by the 'good looking' (!) green bib player with the very short haircut (!) was though in the area. Should have been disallowed, though he had another disallowed that perhaps should have stood. The Ref though can only give what he sees and things look different from different angles.
I'm always looking for (sensible) content ideas, so feel free to make suggestions. They can take a while to put together, but I aim to please.😊👍
Maybe a GJ compilation?
Lol, that won't last long then 😂...I'll leave it to you TT, though if you do, don't include that game where I started tripping up over my laces 😂
Another great Vid Toepoke. A few Chumbawumba moments there captured for prosperity 😂
If slow trotting/jogging go unpunished then 'crabbing' will almost certainly be missed..!
Definitely too quick from both white bibbed players! Easy to do though, we all at some point move a bit too quick.
Tbh, not sure what the problem with crabbing is as long as it's done at a speed commensurate with walking. The one where the 2 tall players clash (no names!) isn't anything to do with crabbing imo, player 1 stumbles over the ball and subsequently stumbles into player 2. A great Vid Dave as usual and some interesting points raised 👍
Some good questions posed - and a few who are too quick or crafty……
The number 5 attacker looks like he is running - the defender matches the run. Other than that a good example.
A poor choice to demonstrate DOGSO as the forward ran to get on the ball before the defender caught up.
The best examples always happen when the camera is switched off.
Is it just me, or were the penalty takers running on the kick. I thought the rule was one step.
There is a one metre rule, which the ref should indicate. The taker should still walk to the ball. These are social sessions, which tends to be reffed by anybody willing, rather than seasoned refs.
Another great Vid TT! And one of the best social unlimited touch games we've had on Friday imo. In defence of the accused!.. ,I was caught between a rock and hard place. The deflection was rolling invitingly to Riz for an easy tap in. I'd have had to go fully in the area to have any chance to stop it, tried to hedge bets but yes, guilty as charged! 😂
These Vids are excellent Dave, well done mate. Funny and informative too. Was going to slide on knees to celebrate but would never have got back up again 😂
Feel free to keep your top on for the next celebration! 😂
By the way mate, these videos are quality!
It's never a DOGSO, you've not factored into the equation that it's Chris who's clean through! He scores about as many as I do!😁
Got to admit (having seen it slowed) down) my first goal was defo running. Can I still claim the hat-trick? 😂😂😂
The ref gave it, so it stands - the referee is always right, even when I'm err, err, mean they are wrong. 😂
@@DavidLord-f6c 😂🙈
Pointless Riz celebrating his goals, he’d only get bored as he scores that many but it’s lovely to see his body movement and body swerves slowed right down. Must be the most naturally gifted player at WWFC
The camera's on him now - he's an Internet sensation, so he has to raise his celebration game! 😂 You are right, though, his slow motions show great balance, control, quick thinking and skill - he's on another level. 😊👍
Great footage and analysis Dave. So hard to spot but definitely a few goals scored when players running on to the ball, don’t want to pick on anyone but the whites certainly guilty of this. But so hard to spot.
The line belongs to the referee
That's why it was a brave decision, because the keeper does go over the line and out of his area - just! 👍
VAR line is on his toes so in wrong place - his heels are still on line so a very dubious call………….need MickL to adjudicate….
@@niallodonnell5150 I thought it was ANY part of the foot outsides, so I agree - ask Mick L. 😊👍
WFA RULES, March 2024 Goal Area Infringements A goalkeeper leaving the goal area during play commits a foul, except when this is a result of momentum only and providing that he/she is not in possession of the ball (and does not play the ball) outside the goal area. If the goalkeeper is still in contact with the ball outside the goal area, then a penalty kick shall be awarded. The goalie has stopped with his knees and the tips of his feet clearly outside the area. He continues to play the ball with his knees, while his knees and the tips of his feet are clearly outside the area. Because he continued to play the ball, while outside the area, it would appear that a penalty was the correct decision. It doesn't say anything about the heels being inside the area in the WFA rules, unless we are playing to our own club rules - in which case, it would be good to have a copy! 😊👍
An interesting watch and perhaps I will add some comments when a few more of your regulars have commented.
A few WWFC boys - name and shame ‘em……😂😂
Great Video. Just one issue I thought only one step was allowed for a pen. He took 3/4 movements before kicking the ball. Some great keeping from Peter.
I think the rules have changed, but I'd have to check with Mick Lowley, or someone else who knows their stuff.
Top save PeterI
