The Northwest Branch water falls and the surrounding forest at the fall line are beautiful in the winter. A video was inspired by Paula Wang's The Forest in Winter presentation to the Neighbors of the Northwest Branch in December 2020. This park is a Silver Spring gem.

Do the floating wetlands get anchored somehow to the bottom to keep them in place? Really interesting.
Yes. They are anchored to the bottom of the pond so they do not float around.
There are a few times where the video hiccups-- especially when talking about Carson's desire to write her 'wonder book' after Silent Spring. Point was that this is what she was likely most interested in writing, a major expansion of her 1956 article on wonder (which posthumously became The Sense of Wonder), but she wasn't able to achieve this "dream" to her illness and then death in 1964.
That was an excellent video about Brookside Gardens...
This makes me so homesick. Thanks for the memories!!!!!
