@@joannephillips3557 the first hole that I made was a piece of go board which is a foam board so yeah, it went right through no problem. The second cut was in a hard porcelain piece of tile. Like I mentioned in the video, could I achieve the same thing by tilting my drill and working my way straight into cut? Yes, I’ve done it many times but when you’re able to have the water going and the drillbit inserted into that goboard (keeping the drill bit locked into place essentially) you don’t have to worry about the drillbit jumping around, which has also happened to me (ruining the piece)

You don't want rough edges on a cut and s ok me materials get ugly unless you have that top layer to help prevent imperfections.

@@chrisbaldwin8293 we can that’s how we started off 10years ago… ever since these came out this is what we prefer to use unless a mud bed is absolutely necessary

@@cbriggo2157 depending on how long the grout has been cracked I wouldn’t say I’ve seen ROTTEN framing but I’ve seen moldy drywall (wall that is in the other side of shower ) I’ve had calls where people say there carpet is wet or flooring is getting damaged from water , the client calls out a plumber they can’t find a leak …once I see the cracked grout I already know it’s from there or pin holes in shower pan

the instructions will specify the distance required between mounts.

@@jamesbaumbach3294 yea I use to use a tape and float tray but constantly had to keep refilling it … plus the clips and wedges start getting mixed together and that gets annoying so having 2 separate spaces for each works well especially on the floor !
