Which are the best fruit trees to grow in Florida?
Looking good!
@@LoblollyLights thank you!
Hi, let me ask you a question when you plant seeds you just plant one seed in a pot or do you put multiple seeds in one pot?
@@SkyNetGeneral- both, I do a lot of single seeds or 2-3 seeds in a pot and then I’ll do a larger community pot with anywhere from 20-30 seeds and split later
@@okpalms1 thanks , and what do you think about the bag method ? They don’t receive oxygen so?
@@SkyNetGeneral- I’ve done it to save room and had some success but it’s more of a hassle to me but I do several hundred at a time so it’s time consuming to take them all out and then pot up
@@okpalms1 k thank you for the info .
@@SkyNetGeneral- you bet!
I heard you say "we were in the gulf and drove straight through" and immediately thought, "ok, big deal?". I had just assumed that you were in Florida from your yard until I looked at your page and saw "Oklahoma City" 😂
@@markhendricks8160 definitely a far drive home for us! Thanks for watching!
Nice palms
Thank you, thanks for subscribing as well. I subscribed back!
How much do you sell these for?
20 for $6 or 40 for $10 plus shipping
Well well well... What a small world we live in. Here I am researching tips for planting/potting palm trees around my new above ground pool. Searching for palms in Oklahoma, I immediately found your webpage and youtube channel. Saw your face in this video and said, "Hey, I recognize that pixel guy!"
Glad ya found me! Yessir pixels and palms! Keeps me busy year round! Love to help ya anyway I can. Txt me if ya like (405)406-2020
@@okpalms1 Sounds good. I might just do that at some point! I picked up a windmill, a dwarf palmetto, and a couple of hardy banana trees. I'm going to plant the banana trees in the ground since they're root hardy to 10 degrees apparently. Palms I plan on keeping in pots. Hoping to get a greenhouse this summer/fall as well and they'll go into there for the winter. My palmetto palm actually has two plants in the pot I bought. Should I just keep them together like they are, or is it worth separating them and having them in separate pots?
@@LoblollyLights anytime I don’t mind. that awesome Where did ya get your dwarf palmetto? As far as separating I would leave them together as sabal species don’t like root disturbance and it could be detrimental to both in the pot if to many roots are damaged where as like Mexican fans are super easy and can tolerate root disturbance
@@okpalms1 I'll definitely keep them together then. Which is fine, they'll be thicker and I plan on using them to hide the pool pump. I picked them up from Marcum's in S. OKC.
@@LoblollyLights that will definitely look good!
Hi!, can you make a update?
Nice!! ❤
Wow you have a nice palm collection!
Nice
Use warm water to get the fruit off
Great setup there
Thank you!
Hella cool. My Washingtonia defoliates here in Washington state. I keep em dry and during super cold spells its covered up with fleece. I don't have the best infrastructure but what I'm doing works. Best growing to you
Thanks and you as well! Big thing is dry for sure and probably harder where you’re at then here. We stay dry a lot but can have some crazy winter days at time.. not really snow just cold for a few days and then spike up, which I feel can hurt one just as bad as straight freezing temps
I'm surprised the heat doesn't rise up and stay in the top of the box for your Sabals. Do they end up putting out enough fronds in a season?
Oh yea, I mark it as soon as I unbox it and just the mild days we’ve had it’s pushed a few inches since this video. The Mexican fan doesn’t look a frond and had prob 12-14 when I boxed it.. I’ll have to cut several off by the end of this season to get the bungee on it
Looking Good sits our time of the year, Blessings 🌴🙏☕🤗🌴Jose's Tropical Garden 🌴
Thank you! Yes yes it is our time of year 🤘🏽
How's it going? Watched all your videos. Amazing progress you've made. I'm in zone 7 here in Northern Nevada. Been growing palms for the past 3yrs now. Slowly but surely I'm getting there
Going well! Hope this summer it really takes off pushing as it will be the 3rd summer in ground and multiple years of routine fertilizer. Adding a couple more palms in the ground this spring!
Any signs of germination yet?
Out of town right now for spring break but before we left nothing yet, apparently 90° is key.. I’m having a hard time with getting that from a heat mat and dome. I have some in just a baggy on the mat as well
@@okpalms1 I’ve had mine germinating for nearly a year and haven’t seen anything yet sadly
@@matthewjones3924 😐😬😲 I hope that’s not my case. I’ve germinated lots of palms but first time for mule
They're looking great! Hopefully we're done with the cold and can really enjoy watching them grow.
Thank you! And yes I agree 🤞🏽
Great job
Thanks!
How are you germinating them? I have some from mules of Mississippi but they haven’t germinated
I’m using peat pellets in a tray, with dome cover situated on a heating pad
Nice collection you have going on there! Mule palms have been on my list for a while, so it will be good to see how these turn out for you.
Thank you!
I hope they do good. I wanna get one as soon as you put them for sell!!!
I’ll post here as they get ready!
Good video
Thank you!
I have a similar size wahy🤗🌴they are such beautiful palms🤗🌴🇺🇸🙏
yes! its prob my favorite i have, def got bigger before i boxed it this year!

Looks like you're covered! I agree, "stupid" is a great description for this upcoming freeze 😆 Let's hope it's as brief as they say it is. Keeping the fingers crossed.
I hope so too! Now they have changed it from - to upper single digits but yes still stupid too cold lol
@@okpalms1 Yeah, they are estimating a couple of degrees warmer here too. A little less stupid, but not by much lol
They look great! Hopefully the winter doesn't get too crazy.
thanks! its been really mild 4th warmest December in state history.. now for jan/feb to play nice lol
@@okpalms1Exactly! Let's just get through the next couple of months. Happy New Year!
nice work palm brother happy new year
thanks! Happy New Year
Great update
Is there a reason people make the fire box so dam big? I mean isn't a regular size firebox about 24" x 24" or so? I would think it would be harder for all that smoke to be drawn up the flue opening.
🤷🏽 never had an issue with it, smoke goes up the flue like normal.
I like the clear set up!
thanks! me too especially being in the front yard
Nice
thank you!
Looks pretty good
thank you!
That big Sabal looks awesome
thanks! its a neighborhood topic so far
Some pretty good sized palms you got
now to have a big Mule
They look great! I swear waiting for a new frond to unravel is the best part ahahah. nice!
Right!! 100 the truth lol
When I say “been out in the sun” I mean the 100° heat for the last several weeks. Finally that heat dome broke 2 days ago.. 90s feeling nice 😅
Nice collection of seedlings! With how hot it's been in this part of the country, you shouldn't have a problem transplanting them now and getting them to adapt before the colder weather sets in. I'll be transplanting my starter pot seedlings into half gallons this weekend, so banking on at least another month of summer temps. It can always change though. Never know.
Awesome thanks! Yea I feel like we should have plenty of summer days. We cool off for a week into 80°-mid 90s Sunday for a week. Then forecast shows another day or two back at 100°
@@okpalms1 Same here. I'm in Northeast Texas and the cooldown into the 90's next week will be a welcome relief!
@@zonehardypalms1188 right! Got out cool down today high was 91° felt amazing lol

Hey you can do the baggie method and keep me updated❤😊😳🤗
Will do! Our first go we had 65 seeds and like 57 were a success. Going to be a fuller greenhouse once these start popping

Hey I got little mexicans seedlings it was 33 Celsius and the Palm was good and in the evening it got spearpull
Some seedlings can be fickle and just shrivel up, make sure to keep watered but not too soaked and I keep them mainly under a light or a shade house for a whole season until they have multiple strap leaves
@@okpalms1 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I have a question regarding palms that just grew in my back yard. I want to transplant them to another area. When do you recommend doing it? They are small like a foot tall.
Awesome! Do you know what type? If you can message me on fb I can see what they are that way facebook.com/zach.watts.90?mibextid=LQQJ4d
