I have a friend who is still working as an owner operator. He has a beautiful 2010 Pete conventional that I’m not sure about what model. But he has a home made “APU”, he cobbled together, using a small home 4,000 BTU AC window unit he has mounted down low under the bunk, resting on an isolated rubber platform that built in an mounted through the cab wall in the rear, with the rear of the unit outside. Next to that outside on the frame rail is a mount that is also isolated from vibration with rubber and springs, that’s is like a utility box, with an air intake, exhaust outlet and grill for the air to circulate for cooling. With a beautiful little Honda AU 3300 generator. That runs everything in the bunkhouse, along with a 2,000 ApHr lithium battery pack, that can be used to help start the truck if need be, plus is hooked up to a block heater and fuel heater. But it gets so cold in his cab he could haul meats! Plus it runs for 10 hrs on 1.5 gallons!

I never get out and look like a fucking rookie. I look in my mirrors, I memorize my surroundings, I monitor traffic and log in my head vehicles in the area, I check the spot before I back, and my set up I get right from the get go. I also know the size of my vehicle and understand how it moves. If I'm blindside backing I straighten the truck to see my mirrors. This how silly sticker companies put on these trucks likes it's going to help instead of teaching them how to be real truckers. Most people today in their fucking flip flops don't have the mental capacity or common sense to be behind that wheel and the paper pushers who get them behind that wheel don't help. I never find myself having to fucking get out and look, but I do find myself dodging these fucking morons acting like they are driving a minivan

Some people talk bad about regional driving but one of the best things about regional is about 80 to 90% of the time the places you go you’ve been there before and or been there a lot of times there’s always a place you haven’t been you haven’t been everywhere but it’s less than over the road when you’re over the road it’s more likely that you haven’t been there before but over the road is an easier truck driving job I think Except the trade off is your on the road for weeks at a time regional it’s a little more intense with the pressure do you have a lot more stops but you get to go home every week so it’s all how you look at it

I’ve had the exact same thing happen to me but I was 150ft behind the guy. He just stuck it in reverse and took off rapidly backwards. BAM ! Coolant everywhere. I’m done and he has no damage. I’ve since learned to park about a foot to the left so they can look in the mirror and see me.

I had this happen to me but the driver destroyed my truck his trailer was literally in the cab of my truck and then tried to make it seem like it was my fault no dashcam at the time but had a boat load of witnesses

Honestly, it's best to admit your own faults. In todays age of phones, cameras, and other technology, honesty is the best policy. Admitting you're wrong, your insurance covers the damages but when you lie and get exposed on camera, your insurance gets canceled.
