Nice home made Yagi antenna for 800 MHz. I'll have to try that.

Hi my question is I hear the same thing and seems like alot of police station are like this hear the gurgling crap ...so my question is everyone wrong and these signals are not encrypted jus everyone has crappie scanners cause only 3 scanners can receive simulcast so now I'm very confused what's going on with my area police encrypted? Or simulcast n how to find out

Your video was spot on for dealing with simulcast. I copied your antenna and it made a major difference in my reception. I have a question about the different lengths and distance between elements. I just winged it making mine. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for making the video.

Why not just by the new scanner., So what another $700. This can be an expensive hobby. What else am i gonna do with my money??? Leave it to my wife so her new husband buys rhe scanner i wanted??? No way i spend it all now. Great video. I now understand why my trx-1 which recieves stimucast acts up on me

There's also a guy from Florida who uses cellular duplexers from old cellular cell phone sites and he put that to the test and actually filtered all that out and it was pure raw audio that was perfect without Distortion because of those cavity filters they were properly tuned

This was a great explanation on the issue of simulcast and how to overcome it! Nicely done.

Hi there I'm in Miami and I have a 535 and I have high error rate I receive but broken signal it's strong but audio it's gargoyl I ordered a yagi hopefully that will help I been 1 month fighting the problem now if I take the scanner to another location it's great. I already used a discone a mag mouunt and a rubber duck no change hopefully the yagi will solve the isue you are the only one that describes and explain the solution thanks for the video

Sir, Thanks for sharing a most valuable information. Myself I ended up returning an SDS 100(a very expensive radio). It worked great getting all P25's and Simulcast. However it would fall silent. How may I learn the same science you beautifully explained? I honestly just want to spend the least amount for a digital scanner(BCD 325p2) But I would have to build the same gadget as you. Please point me in the direction of understanding or learning this science of signals. Thank you sir.

Hi Joseph, Thanks for your interest in my video. If you want to use a directional antenna like mine you should start by determining the frequency you want to monitor. In my case, the local public safety is on 853 MHz. You must know that number before you build the directional antenna. Then I recommend searching the Internet for suggestions about how to build Yagi antennas. There are several sites that will give you the dimensions for the length and spacing of the elements. If you prefer to buy an antenna, there are several good choices available depending on the frequency. Remember, the antenna must be directional. The next step is determining the location of the tower that has the best signal. Radio Reference can help you find those. Best of luck. Jay

Joseph, I have a BCD 325 P2 and I get great reception both directions for about 10 minutes then complete silence then it comes back again 10 minutes then silence. It just cycles like this over and over. Other standard frequencies like weather run for hours without any interruption. I was hoping to get the SDS 100 to hopefully resolve this issue but it looks like you’ve already tried that.

@@markwilson7643 thanks for sharing your experience. Funny because I returned 2 top of the line digital radios(SDS100 & BCD436). Both would intermittently fall silent for long periods, work then fall silent again. I'm sure its where I live. Anyway, I bought a BC355N, guess what, it ALWAYS picked up signals. Yes an analog scanner picked up more often and was never quiet!! What a surprise. It cost only $89 compared to several hundred.

@@MrJayayer Thank you sir for your reply. As of this writing, I have returned 2 digital scanners(SDS100 & BCD436)both worked intermittently then would fall silent for very long periods. But to my surprise I bought an inexpensive BC355N(analog scanner) and it picked up all the time, everyday. Sure I cant hear the P25's but I still can get PD FD EMS Ham(on analog with stock telescopic antenna). Also heard from the fellow at the Ham radio shop say analog will never go away for public service as it serves as a back up in case the digital system goes down.

@@markwilson7643 Yes sir. I've retruned 2 SDS100's as a matter of fact. One from moonrakeronline the other from BearcatWarehouse. One from moonrakeronline would rarely receive anything, the one from Bearcatwharehouse would only intermittently work. Both had DMR loaded and the one from moonrakeronline also preloaded with NXDN. So I ended up returning both. My reason; why spend $700 for intermittently working brand new devices. I ordered the BCD325 p2 to see how it will work as I will try a suggestion from the guys at my local ham radio store. They recommend I purchase either: a Hustler UGM, MRM-B, or OPEK Scan BNC antennas. I would place them right next to my window(on a window sill) then plug in the cable with BNC connector on the radio. So I'll give this a shot. The HoA in my area doesnt allow us to place anything on the roof.
