Sav Madigan repping my electric violin with Lainey Wilson, opening the Country's Cool Again tour!
I haven't posted videos in a while and this is one of the reasons. I've had a lot on my workbench and not much time for video editing but here's a little taste of what I've been up to... I am proud and humbled to now be the official violin sponsor of sav Madigan, and this is my electric violin on stage with the great Lainey Wilson, opening night of the Country's Cool Again tour! A friend at the concert sent me this phone clip.

My latest EUB is a black walnut live edge burl fiver with a bowel-shaking low B. I used the Shadow Nanoflex pickup with built-in preamp, Grover Titan 145C machine tuners, and DiAddario Helicore Hybrid strings. The fingerboard is an extra wide, nice thick Brazilian ebony fiver from Upton Bass. Just having some fun waiting for it's new owner to show up and take possession.

MY WHAMOLA IS DONE WOOOOOOO
Bro you need a better hobby you got way too much time on your hands!!!
@@jasoncotter3518 This is actually my job. 😄
Its ssssooooo moist
If this song doesn't make you smile and even laugh, well I don't care who ya are, you're gonna smile. Thanks for a very special left hand string/Electric Contra Bass Supersonic Rocket Ship😊 Semper Fi
Thanks for uploading.I saw this solo live and it was beyond incredible!!!!
That's awesome.
I built one myself years ago out of stuff I had in my garage. A lot of the parts came from a roll up garage door. One thing I used from the door was the steel cable for the string. It's hard to explain how I have it where it can be tightened and loosened to tune it without pictures. The cable is about a half-inch thick twisted metal wires. It's a little rough on the hands, but I got used to it. I've been using it live for over ten years with no problems. Usually I do a short solo, thenp N.I.B. by Sabbath and into For Whom the Bell Tolls by Metallica. At the end of the night, I might drag It back out and do Sugar by System of a Down. It will break a drum stick before the cable breaks.
Sounds like a well revved 2-stroke
South park ahh instrument
How much??
The first riff sounds like something limp bizkit would write
Awesome vid. Not sure I would ever adjust the truss myself. Good thing I know a guy :)
1:34-4:51 what song is this
@@Bigdummy2023 All the song credits are at the end 😀 If you mean the intro song, that's my band The Brothers Crunch with Anatomy of a Groove. Bass tracks are all on my Boomstick prototype. Thanks for watching!
Very nice! What pickup do you use on them?
Les is gonna start selling them on his website sometime. I probably dont wanna see what they’ll cost though lol
You can find them although not built or endorsed by Les for 500 ish
Skrrrt. 🎉🎉🎉❤
That crazy lever. Look up "B Bender Guitar". Incorporates that bending into the support strap.
Dude I thought my neighbor was revving his motorcycle again
Buffalooooooòoooo
This is awesome. I might try to build my own, any tips or dos and donts? Also what type of wood ought i to use
sweet build
ua-cam.com/video/mrMAUaGb4n0/v-deo.htmlsi=wmXLUxX-ozzUo25c This guy isn’t too shabby either I hear..🤔
This is even better than the djent stick. Les was ahead of the times.
Thanks! I built my first one many years ago after getting into the Frog Brigade. Les has been a constant inspiration my whole life as a bassist.
Forgive me sir, I'm just a dumb electric guitar,/bass player are there truss rods on these? I'm thinking about building one, and I'm so stuck in the techniques of building an electric neck that I'm getting a little hung up here.
No truss rod on mine. Probably not on others either but I'm honestly not sure. That a good question actually.
How do you get your whamola to sound so “bouncy” at 3:20?
Now that sounds good! Nice job, sir!
Hi there loved ur whamola video, was wondering if you sell your instruments, and if so, how much for?
Great work young fella!! Came across your presentation while searching for a video on changing the endpin on my Stagg EB electric upright. (It’s too short!) You are a true craftsman & your artistic addition complimented that instrument. Nice job. Thank you!!
I need one
You have inspired me to build one. Thank you.
Not sure if you ever heard of That One Guy and his amazing Pipe. Check him out, got the same type of groove going on.
He's actually a friend of mine. Haven't spoken in a minute but he is the inspiration for all my pipe instruments.
@@cauldronmusic1252 both hats tipped to you! AWOOOOO! I found his music around 2014ish, bought his albums and saw him twice when he came local. My go to listening when I'm feeling blah, got a few friends into him as well.
DECIR UN SYNTETIZADOR MECANICO ES CONTRADICTORIO?
Cool looking sticks. Love the way they hang on your body, an interesting idea, and a practical solution. The music was great too.
Les Claypool did it first, but props for being able to build it yourself
He's the first one I ever saw playing it. Big fan here!!
congratulations on the video!!! Are you curious about the double bass support strap, can you tell me where you bought it?
That's my own design actually. Ive modified it a little since that video. I can build one for you. NS Design makes one similar I think.
If you flipped it upsidedown and mounted it to the floor you could do the bends by tilting it and youd have your hand free to finger the neck
That sounds dirty. 😆
This musical instrument reminds me of the sound my colon makes when I overtake vitamin C, and eat Taco Bell. 😂
Sounds like I nailed it. 😆
How many strings does this thing eat?
Haha this is great!!! Cool bass.
Damn man, that Whamola design is way cooler than Les Claypools. Very inspiring, cant wait to build one myself.
By the way, I love your sound man, great tunes!
Maybe I should build him one! 😆 I'd love to know what kind of pickup and effects he uses though!
@@cauldronmusic1252You should give him an email and see if he's up for it. Also still surprised you're replying to comments on this vid lol
@cauldronmusic1252 you probably already know this but I know he at least uses a microsynth
Wow Dude!
I've never seen something like that! Cool Dude!
This is absolutely incredible, keep up the awesome work and I look forward to seeing what you make next. Do you happen to have any engineering scales drawings, measurements or links to where a humbucker pick up link the one used in your video, also did you use any effect pedals to get that signature sound. Rock on! 👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks! I'm sure the dimensions of the Seymore Duncan Woody are easy to find if that's what you mean. I'm using my Boss ME30B. A few different presets. You can usually find those pretty cheap.
I'm not sure how long to make the neck, etc, I'm hoping to make a whamola for my final year in woodshop at high school.👍👍
@@Frog_In_A_Minecart Gotcha... There's no "right" scale length but it normally uses an upright bass D string so size it for a 3/4 or 4/4 string. Mine is about 40" from the middle of the flywheel to the bridge. Also you don't have to break a bunch of expensive strings. Just by a length of 18 Guage steel cable from any hardware store and use that for testing. A real string is only necessary if your playing out or want to be real picky about tone. Half the fun is playing it through effects processors anyway so you don't need the greatest string tone in the world. Hope that helps! Oh yeah and you'll want a magnetic pickup. Not a transducer. Like the Woody I mentioned. 😀
Thanks that's perfect 👍👍👍
Awesome how much
I can build a basic custom whamola starting around $600 and the price increases with more intricate wood working. Plus shipping Check out my build video, "Whamola version 3......" That's a good example of one with fairly extensive woodworking.
