How to Remove and Replace the Timing Chain on Pontiac Straight 8s
After doing timing belts on some of my other vehicles, I decided I would get the preventative maintenance in for the Chieftain as well. I knew for a fact there was a very small chance someone had replaced the chain before, so I might as well do it myself 73 years later. I was also curious to see how easy or difficult the process was, and luckily it was a very straightforward one if you have all of the right tools and a little patience. No one else had seemed to have a video covering this either, so hopefully this is a good enough one.

Easiest way to Install a Water Pump on ae82 Toyota Corolla
Переглядів 150Місяць тому
While doing a timing belt job on my 1988 Corolla FX, I decided it was time to go through the cooling system as well as my temperature was noticeably increasing as time went on. This involved flushing the block, heater core, radiator, installing new radiator hoses, a new thermostat and gasket, and a new water pump. Due to the ae82 corollas being front wheel drive, this proved to be a fairly tric...
How to Remove and Replace the Rear Filler Panel Decal on a 93-02 Pontiac Firebird
Переглядів 65Місяць тому
Do you own a 4th generation firebird with a faded rear decal, and you don't want to spend a small fortune getting another used panel with a slightly less faded decal? Well, this is the solution for you. My 96 Firebird has always had a faded rear decal, while not being the worst fade, still noticeable to me. No one had really covered the entire process of removing the decal, cleaning and restori...
Luminics JDM Yellow Headlight Bulb Review
Переглядів 542 місяці тому
Because I was not able to get any 9004 bulbs in a yellow hue at my local parts stores for my 88 Corolla, I decided to hop on eBay and try out one of the first bulbs I found. This happened to be this Luminics brand, which I have not heard a great deal about or seen any other videos or reviews on. So I decided to give them a chance myself. Normally I would go with the Hella brand as they make gre...

This 12 volt conversion has been done for over 2 months now, I have just been putting off a wrap up to the whole video/series, but here it is. The first half of the video is all wiring and changing out lighting, and the other half is me driving the car around as well as my thoughts and insight into how the car performs on a 1...

How to add Power Seats to your 1993-2002 Firebird or Camaro
Переглядів 1384 місяці тому
My 1996 Firebird Base has had 1993-1996 non power manual Camaro seats since I've owned it. While these seats are comfortable, and look okay, they do not match the car. When the deal of a lifetime for a full set of black leather 2002 Trans Am seats came up, it was hard not to change up the car a little bit. In this particular video I will show how to fully remove all of the seats from a 4th gene...
DIY 6 to 12 Volt Conversion Part 2: Universal Alternator Mounting Bracket
Переглядів 775 місяців тому
In this series I will finally be converting my 1951 Pontiac Chieftain Straight 8 from the unreliable 6 volt system to a "modern" 12 volt system. The first part covers everything you would need to do a conversion. The second part goes over how to set up and mount a universal alternator bracket. While being a little challenging to set up, this particular one was able to work well enough to use th...

Everything I use is easily attainable through a parts store and th...
6 Volt Revisit: Will a remanufactured generator charge?
Переглядів 1156 місяців тому
By this point in time we are well ready for the 12 volt conversion on the chieftain. However the automotive technician in me still cannot help but wonder why the 6 volt system keeps on quitting. So I figured we'd throw a brand new professionally remanufactured generator at it and see if it helps our charging at all and if we got the same voltage readings. I am not confident it would do anything...

Good luck with the gasket stayin on 🙄
Good video. I had that same issue on several Firebirds. The sun eventually fades the vinyl.
Nice work. What products did you use? Any links? (I don't have the sound on.)
Good job. May I suggest a wider angle for your camera work.
I just subscribed and I notice you put up your pronouns… Guy, what demographic do you think you’re reaching here??? Do not contribute to that demagoguery!
Awesome car! I’ve also got a 1951 Pontiac 8 streamliner(fastback) silver-streak. Same straight 8, hydromatic. I saved mine from the scrapyard almost 2years ago. It had been sitting for decades so it needs everything but I was able to get the plugs out, soak the cylinders with marvel mystery oil and turn the crank with a breakover bar. That was a relief. I appreciate your videos especially on this car, I just found your channel today so I’ll check the rest of your videos out as I try to get mine up and going. I’ve gotta find a few parts; a couple broken (back glass) and a few that are missing(radiator, horns, headlight-beauty rings, and the cheiftain hood ornament) not too many but some definitely-necessary lol. All in due time.
Great Job & Great Car! Have a 1954 Ford that needs this conversion. Keep these old 50's cars on the road!
This is awesome
It looks like Smokey's baby to me.
When I converted my '51 to an alternator, I used a Mr. Gasket adjustment side bracket. I had to cut it shorter and drill a new hole to mount to the back of the water pump. Worked a treat.
Good Job, 12 Volts is the way to go!
I never knew Chevy made a 302 I knew about the 305 🤙🏻 guess that’s why it was a prototype
Lat 60s camero.
Z 28 dz 302 for racing
Sweet
Now just keep it together
Great Job getting those disc brakes on a 1951 Pontiac. It is good to get these old cars to stop good. Keep It Up!
Definitely is a big block
Small block 302 Chevy
Sure looks like a big block to me by looking at valve covers and headers
That's not sb heads
That’s a (BBC) lol
Yes sirrrrrr
Thanks! There's more on the way!
That was still a horn! Over here we call it a hooter.
Now that's a horn!!!!
No heater?
It looks like bb chevy heads
Cool Pontiac..... 😊
Glad to see it on the road. 👍😎💯
Keep up with the updates. What a sweet ride. 😎💯👍
What a great update. We grew up a Pontiac family. I love ANYTHING pertaining to older Pontiacs. Thank you. I really dig that sunset shot, way cool. 😎💯
Tell us about the hot rod, engine, drivetrain etc.
Thank you for the ride! That was very interesting. I wonder how many times that old girl went out in 10 degree weather in her life. It's good to see an old car being loved, and driven.
Oh my gosh, guys, that was my first car(not the one you're working on) in 1980.
Very cool! Glad to bring back some memories for you.
What's cylinder heads are on that engine?
Here's an article covering the entire history and technology put into this particular engine. hotrodenginetech.com/1969-z28-canted-valve-302/
Informative but aren't 6 volt systems positive ground
Great question! Depending on the Year Make and Model. Pontiacs were all negative ground by this point, a long side most other GM products. But the only way to know for sure is if you pop the hood and take a look!
It’s alive
Awesome, sounds good!
