Hey, I'm Arl. (Name reveal at NO likes because I keep info private) The first 1 minute and 30 seconds of this video got me crying. The fact that they had to play No Suprises by Radiohead and add a autistic kid crying made this so depressing. As a teen who has Autism, my life as a child was SO hard. My mom thought me and my twin were going to be non verbal for the rest of our lives, but we beat those odds. In fact, my twin is above grade level with her intelligence and so am I.... This made me sad and happy for those kids and I wish a good life to them. (Also me and my twin's birthday is tommorow! 🎉)

Scaremongering. There is a whole spectrum to concider. i am 59 and my autism has got easier to live with over the years. Not everyone with autism has seizures and a lot of suicides are down to neglect from support services. If you dont have epilepsy and have a support network that is not just there in name, there is little to no reason why you cant live as long as other people. There would be less chance of experimenting with coping mechanisms like alcohol and drugs if better support were available. The death rates have shot up in the last couple of years or so from all causes, because people were told you must queue up and get protected.

38:30 As a mother of a child on the spectrum. I’m angered how she isn’t taking in the words, symptoms and the signs he’s clearly telling her. She’s taking his voice away. I would be mad to, not being listened to. My son was 4, when he was diagnosed, but didn’t verbalize much and didn’t say mom, until that age, either. He said it, but he didn’t know what it meant. My son didn’t hate going to school, but I got him tested based on his lack of interest and no progress in Public Pre-K. The public school wanted him to go back to public school, but my instincts told me otherwise. We drove 3 hrs, one-way, and was properly diagnosed in 20 min. by an ABA Licensed PhD Director of his own ABA Clinic. He was very sophisticated and knew of my son’s uniquely rare SIK1 gene mutation; neonatal onset of severe epilepsy that transitions into autism. The doctor wrote a letter, giving him level 2 autism diagnoses, which excused my child from public school, and therefore was able to attend a local ABA Center where he has excelled beautifully. Please listen to your child’s words, feelings, and actions. Don’t negate it. This extremely traumatizes the child horribly, as shown, and will affect the relationship with any caregiver. My son has several love languages; tickles, chase, running, and Sonic 😂. See the world from their eyes ❤

I encourage you to look into the controversy of aba therapy, and listen to autistic adults/teens/older children who have been in aba's testaments on how it affected them, their mental health, how they view their time spent in it, etc, so that you can make a more informed decision on whether or not you think aba is the right decision for your kiddo:) because it's the only therapy insurance covers, it's easy to assume the reason is because it's the best option but for a lot of autistic ppl it's really not the best, and sometimes even one of the worst options. I recommend watching Paige Layle's videos about aba, she's an autistic adult who talks about former aba clients experiences and opinions on it. Only you and your kiddo can know what's the right choice, and I hope you look into it more:)- an autistic adult who cares<3

What a wonderful beautiful attitude. I remember being a teen and being floored by his music. It was so emotional...it's definitely how he connects. It's inspiring to me and I relate as I am hearing impaired. True what one person sees as a disability actually opens up different creative channels and abilities. What a trule beautiful person he is.

“I am the girl you know, can’t look you in the eye.” Makes a lot more sense, knowing she’s autistic. Whenever I heard that lyric, I always thought “that’s literally me. Eye contact is so hard because of autism.” I was on the money, lmao.

Unreal, a four year old video and not a single comment in four years. Oh well, heres the first. I'm an autistic, my son is also autistic, and my dad is autistic too. I have a real problem with the mcguiness's autistic family story. They have, by their own account, the most severely disabled autistic children, every trait, and characterture of autism within their children. I have met with dozens of autistic people over my years, and not once have i ever met an autistic person who has every trait or issue. The Mcguiness's seem to be profiting from not proffeeing advice or help for autism. Christmas can be difficult for autistic kids. If you know their dislikes, avoid those over christmas like any other time of year. If you dont know, go slow, go easy, dont force, and be willing to stop, adapt, or change things. If your child is as yet undiagnosed watch for "i dont like" comments or retracting away or playing up unexpectedly, including fights with other kids. Foods, lound noise (incl talking) or music, smells, lights, paper boxes, bright colours drinks etc all add to the familiar becoming unfamiliar and too much. Just be guided by the childs comfort zone, dont pressure or ridicule, force, or coerce your child to engage. As for mcguiness's its all bout them and their lives never about the world outside their bubble. So ignore the mcguiress's pointless "woe is us" theatrics.

I felt really sorry for Jake as he was crying and talking about how much he hates school. He was complaining mainly about sensory issues, but I wonder if he was also dealing with anxiety on account of being in a new environment. Starting school is stressful for any child, but it's probably worse for an autistic child because of the emotional dysregulation that comes with autism.

I don't know how this lady can learn to do certain things like small talk & eye contact because by the nature of her condition, Aspergers these behaviours are inherently difficult, I would say impossible even because the Brian of a neuro divergent person is wired completely differently, I would class what this lady is doing as masking & this leads to a whole different set of issues.

Traumatic birth and not looking at faces to process information huh... apparently mom's face was uncommunicative. Her disengagement explains his inability to regulate emotion... which he was supposed to learn by interacting with her as an infant. His intolerance for uncertainty is also an anxiety which comes from having never been reassured. This is so fucking obvious. Duh
