Jono Campbell

Jono was born in rural Southland and then raised in rural Northland prior to shifting to Ōtautahi. He married Vicki (Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Hāmoa, Niue) and they have spent over forty years working together alongside rangatahi and whānau. Initially a rangatahi, then a volunteer, and then a youth worker in Te Ora Hou Ōtautahi, Jono has benefited from opportunities to be developed, mentored and challenged by many wise people and peers in ways that have allowed him to support others. He is currently part of an inspirational group of people who are committed to investing in rangatahi ora, whānau ora and hapori ora in Ōtautahi. They use a whole range of initiatives, including micro and social enterprise. Currently Jono’s passion is looking at applying Indigenous youth development theory to urban practice.
