JESTER FRETLESS (Barry Hyman and Jared Carrozza)
United States
Приєднався 1 сер 2020
The two members of JESTER FRETLESS (Jared Carrozza, bass; Barry Hyman, guitar, pedal steel) started playing together in the band ZUELA in 2004, then formed the DREAD RESISTORS in 2016. Their duo JESTER FRETLESS began in 2018 dedicated to performing and documenting improvisational music. During the pandemic, when all the venues closed, they started shooting informal outdoor art music videos, and after getting 4900 views on facebook, they transferred their work to this channel in 2020. Their performances are a mix of spontaneous world fusion instrumentals, Barry's political reggae songs, rehearsed compositions, and a few unusual cover tunes. Musical influences include afropop, indian, latin, caribbean, arabic, celtic, but also jazz, blues, funk, folk, and country. This youtube channel is the best site for seeing and hearing JESTER FRETLESS, although they have more audio recordings up on soundcloud and at barryhyman.com.

Created by JESTER FRETLESS (Barry Hyman, guitar; Jared Carrozza, double bass) in The Jester's Lair on January 3rd, 2025. Documented by Sweet and Happy Mobile Studio. We thought we were pretty clever with our nine-note mutant melodic minor scale, but the dogs upstaged us completely.

Pretty chill song, I like it.

If you like dogs, watch our latest video "Remarkable Dog Love"
Can you plz release this on bandcamp? need this on my stereo in flac!
We're glad you like it, but why do you need BandCamp to listen to it? It's free to listen and watch right here on UA-cam. Doesn't BandCamp charge a fee? JESTER FRETLESS has chosen to give these music videos away. We're not going to pay money to give our music away -- we're not trying to sell it, but that also means there's no way we're going to pay to give it away! Also, sorry to be stupid, but what do you mean by "in flac?"
@@JesterFretless thanks for answering! Flac is just an audio format, closer to lossless, similar to wav-files. UA-cam has a lot of compression on its audio - and your music deserves better 😀 also i don't have a computer/youtube hooked to my stereo in my living room. 😅 just keep on doing your thing - its beautiful!
@zerfall666 The compression is added here in my studio to the wav files, then we upload to YT and don't have them process it at all. When I listen to our YT tracks with good speakers, they sound exactly the same as the original audio. No one should ever try to listen to music with just cellphone or laptop tiny speakers.
that was cool
really cool
Hell yeah
The tone on the lap steel is incredible, love that searing hot fuzz sound
antique tube amp provided the distortion, plus I washed the whole mix in a little cave reverb
Beautiful job both of you!
I used to have the Harmony Fretless Bass. Nice!
Really cool tune
beautiful, love to hear it.
Dude this is amazing
Very nice and very approachable. Thanks!
Thank you too!
really approachable music in an outdoors setting that looks beautiful. Thanks, Barry!
Good effort 👍
This could make an excellent "evil villain's lair" musical theme, it's dripping with ominous atmosphere
It's like music from an island in the sky, like a voice singing.
Guy with your permission could I draw you?
sure
Close your eyes....Sounds like Charles Mingus and Bill Evans
not quite, but THANKS!
That is some super slick bass playing, Dude.
This is absolutely fantastic, I love it. It's very Swordfishtrombones
I need 8 hours of this
We have 200 more music videos on UA-cam. Enjoy!
Gentlemen, this is a wonderful set. I’m an AP art student and would like to use this video as a reference photo for my portfolio submission, would that be all right?
Certainly. We're delighted that you like our music, and appreciate any name recognition we can get. You probably know JESTER FRETLESS has about 200 other music videos on UA-cam. And one "share" online is better than a $50 tip at a gig! Thanks.

can you please release this on bandcamp?
Why? Why should we pay to give our music away? Do you work for BandCamp? Why do you care? You can hear us for free right here, right. Why???
Cool
