Another afternoon at drift playground in the AU Falcon. the layout is slightly different to last time, a barrier has been removed allowing linking between two corners down a short straight now. pretty fun to practice even if it doesn't look super spectacular in an internet video 😀.

1st time out at queensland raceway's drift playground today. Surface is smooth and consistent but slipperier than I expected. ended up changing to gripper tyres at the end and it helped alot. These runs are from near the end of the day. Will be back to get more seat time and get some less scrappy runs going. :)

A single lap of Eastern Creek from a recent track day. First time I've been on the track bike in over a decade now. Comparison of me (main view, medium group) and my mate (picture in picture, medium/fast group). Same bike same conditions. My first time out at Raleigh Raceway near Coffs Harbour in New South Wales, Australia. It's a pretty fun track. I wore out two pairs of old there and these are the best runs of the day I think.

A long time ago I lived in Japan (and that's when most of my videos on this channel were uploaded, if you're a subscriber you'll have likely forgotten you ever subscribed it's been so long!). When I came home to Australia I needed a run around car while I converted my daily driver S13 Silvia back to standard so it would pass rego. 13ish years later this is that temporary run around car.

Okay I know you can drive, just some tips from a fellow AU driver. If you adjust your line and driving style slightly I think you’ll have a much better time. For example coming out of the hairpin turn in as it’s straightening up. This will put you deeper into Nikko drop but it’ll allow the car to stay in drift and keep the rhythm going towards black arts. Then again turn in earlier as the car straightens towards pit wall, this will put you closer to the inside of the track but allows you to stay in drift. You might have to transition back towards pit wall earlier but then you can take the ‘NA line’ to account for that (massive front straight manji instead of full noise straight ahead into the hairpin) As for steers, most AUs at archy are running worse tyres on the front than on the back, but I completely understand how good tyres upfront can instil confidence

@@nebuchernezzer oh yeah sorry, Nikko drop is the big concrete drain on the infield that some people aim for, black arts is the tyre shop container on the big corner where the pits are. Black Arts Factory used to run it and it was all painted up with their logo. And pit wall should actually be canteen or speedway wall haha, idk why I said pit wall when that’s on the other side.

Looks like fun! the grass spots in the center of the track remind me of the old school course! It looked like a lot of cars lined up on the track... could you get many laps in?
Yeah its alot like school course, smaller even but not by heaps. Yeah lots of cars lined up, in the beginner sessions they run a start finish line, for expert it's just lap after lap. I reckon I'll have a go at expert maybe next time. I'm not sure how many runs I got in but it felt like a decent enough amount by the end of the day.
I just went and measured school course vs the drift park on google maps. Not much in it. Probably 120m long for drift park and 140m for school course at a guess. It looks like they've paved in a lot of school course now? No grass on the satellite photo!
@@nebuchernezzer yeah school course is totally paved in now. Its alright because its safer for the car than before but i do miss the main sweeper and trying to get the backend on the edge of it. The approach to the main corner is a bit different too now to what it was so you can tell from peoples line if they are new to it or drove it back in the day. Archerfield looks like itd be a good bit of fun. Hows your muscle memory for drifting? looks like you havent missed a beat really!
@Dan Wiseman yeah can't go getting beached like Sachi did on the first day I key him haha. Yeah looks like you van go pretty shallow into that corner now. Old school line must still look cooler though 😎. Yeah muscle memory wasn't tooooooo bad. This video is the 3rd day I've been to and of course I cherry picked the good runs to put on UA-cam haha ;). But yeah I think at this low speed it's come back to me well enough 😅. You were similar going to matsuri last year too I imagine?
@@nebuchernezzer yeah pretty much. Lots of spinning out while getting the feeling back. Now im back to a fear of breaking the transmission at the track along with a fear of attempting 3rd gear. Its all good fun though! Try get some outside shots next time youre out!

There are plans. Distant ones at this point. I still have the car, it still goes fine. But really the whole thing could do with new bushes and various bits tidied up. When we have a big shed I'll look into it haha. I heard you're still into it so good good :).
Good luck getting the shed then. :) Yeah still into it although it will be about 18 months since my last event when I go in March this year. Have had the turbo setup for a while now, just got no footage on my channel.
