    You have never had to pay to get into Stanley lake ever still not it is 2023 April 3rd as I'm watching this I've lived in Colorado my whole life I have fish Stanley lake plenty of times never once paid there is not even a pay station to pay who did you give money to?????

      Daily vehicle entrance fee was $7. Fishing licenses and park admission fees rarely get checked but I always play it safe. I'm not willing to risk my fishing license retting revoked or suspended for any reason, it's my favorite thing to do in my free-time. Plus the money just goes back to keeping the parks nice so I don't mind paying.

    I know this is old, but just wanted to let you know, those fish you were catching are Round-tailed chub. Not Razorback suckers. Like the Razorback suckers though they are protected and fishing for them is strictly catch and release. There are suckers in clear creek but they are desert and Sonora suckers. The suckers and chub are the native fish, rainbow and brown trout are introduced. So while the suckers may occasionally eat trout eggs and the chub may occasionally eat young trout, the trout eat sucker eggs and young suckers. Suckers get a undeserved bad rap with the “throw them on the bank, they eat trout eggs” being the most prevalent myth peddled by trout fishermen

      7 foot Kast King Blackhawk 2 and Cadence CS5 2000 size. I have two of the exact same set up. I've had to replace the tip on both rods but that's not too hard. The reels I have abused and still work perfectly. Highly recommend both for convenience of the rods and durability of the reel.

    • @gib_life
      @gib_life 2 роки тому

      I think the dogs have more fun than we do! Yes, we always hang our food/trash and anything with a smell to keep the bears and other small animals away. We use clear waterproof dry bags which are a little heavier but also very smell proof. It's mostly the squirrels and mice that will chew through your stuff to get to the food

    Nice video! Planning on doing the loop this weekend. We are experienced hikers and have backpacked before. Would you recommend going clockwise or counter? And do you think its possible to do in 2 days..we can only camp one night.

    • @gib_life
      @gib_life 3 роки тому

      It is about 30 miles for the full loop so you could do it in two 15 mile days. We did clockwise and day 3 was hard because there was a lot of elevation change. If you go counterclockwise you could hike the road really fast and then cover the elevation when you are fresh and then have a somewhat easier second day once you are already tired. Distance and pack weight both wear you out, so try to balance the two based on your endurance level.
