there is so much dumbassery in the comments i dont know where to begin. "it could be a gasoline engine!" -no, it couldn't dipshit "there's no way it could rev beyond 5k!" -yes. yes it can "mods must cost at least $4000!" -no, the internals are probably all stock, unless he's really serious, in which case it wouldn't take so long to break the DRAG SLICKS loose "it's actually slow and takes too long to break the tires loose!" -okay, i'll concede he suffers from extreme turbo lag, but turbo lag is not a concern when drag racing (don't believe me? look at the size of the turbo on the world's fastest 2jz fucktards) and he also starts from 0 RPM where there is zero boost to make power so it's quite understandable heres the thing dumbasses: this is almost definitely an OM602, 603 or 606 mercedes turbodiesel. the engine internals are almost definitely stock. they were stock forged. some people put stiffer valve springs in for high RPM's but thats about it. that turbo is probably a gigantic HX52 or something; people generally used a lot of the holset mounting brackets. all the engines i mentioned can take 400+ horsepower all day no problem. not only that, but revving to 7500 RPM is not unheard of, even higher at times. the engines can also be had CHEAP if you get a junkyard find. one more thing: OM601/2/3/4/5/6 engines used the same engine mounts and transmission bellhousing patterns so they are interchangeable between chassis easily! happy building :]
+Chris Wall right on man. they do make rods and ect for these engines, but its probably stock cuz like yu say it'll hld 400+ stock. and any idiot who thinks thier trucks engine are like the merc engines they are wrong. and if you consider the fact that some cummins guys run 6000 plus rpms why could a merc that has 1500 moore rpms stock rev to 7000? well they can and do. hell people even rev the 617 past 6000. love these engines and thank you!

A couple of me mates did that, built a hybrid 2.2L 4Cyl, using some 606 parts and a different head, they expect around 100hp /cyl from it :D

@16vv Yes you can get ~500hp and 750nm from OM606 with 7mm diesel pump elements and big turbo and over 600hp if you use 8mm Mynädiesel elements. It can also rev over 8000rpm but you should upgrade stiffer valve springs if you want more power after 5000rpm. Stock internals are pretty sturdy, but i have seen bent conrods and valves.

its tuned pump, normal revlimit is 5000 in this Engines. And this is probaly from 5500-7000 that is the standard
if u have the Engine and the car, the Engine upgrades cost about 2500dollar-10000dollar. Normally 4000dollar

Check out Mynä Diesel from Finland and Dieselmeken from Sweden, also read up on turbos and what they do, stiffer valve springs and their function, because you obviously have no idea what you are talking about.
These engines can handle 400hp without being opened, they are just really well built engines

actually they do have them to were they can turn about that much, the big pulling trucks can turn 5 to 5500 rpm. so making a smaller diesel turn that much, should be a breeze.

its always fun to look at all the "know how's" out there, a Diesel merch like tis is with original internal just upgrading turbo and diesel pump elements can easely go 5-600 HP, it also can rev 9000rpm, original an OM603.960 is limited too about 5500 - 6000, but it's a screw in the diesel pump that adjusts the fuel and limit off rpm's, I've with own eyes seen a Merch diesel rev 9000 on track, and this setup i think is 470-500 Whp ;)

I´m sorry to say but you are a bit wrong.. It got a standard om603 or om606 3liter inline 6 with bigger elements, turbo and cooler, that mb have about 500+hp

Probably just a bigger engine and a turbo and the diesul pump maxed up so youll get a little more horsies, and the sound of the car is just the exhaustpipes from the cylinders just bent up through the hood..
