    Thanks for putting this video up. It helped me trouble shoot an export issue following the Iterator. My select feature was a numerical value, and I was exporting to a GDB. (feature classes can not start with a number duh) then I tried a text value but it had a space... So, I tricked GIS. "a%value%" worked for the numerical value!

      Thanks for the comment! You need to turn on dynamic constraints. Find your scale bar where it says for example “1:1200”. Next to this should be several ICONs- snapping, grid, constraints, inference. Click constraints and it should highlight. This will allow you to see the dimensions. Here is a blog on this and one that allows you to see dimensions by adding them directly. community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-pro-questions/show-line-dimensions-while-editing/td-p/1028179 pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/help/mapping/text/display-dimensions.htm

    is there a way that more automatic? what if the point is many?

    • @GeoFolks
      @GeoFolks 5 місяців тому

      Sorry for the late response, don’t know how to constrain the lines perpendicular but below is a workflow to automate drawing lines from the nearest points on the lines to the points. Your question: “Is there a way that is more automatic? what if the point is many?” Without knowing how many points, there are ill just assume 30 or around there. I would run the “Near” Analysis tool between the points and line features. - Make sure you check the “Location” feature in the near tool. Under property dropdown arrow. I would make sure you have “Near_Dist”, “Near_X”, “Near_Y”. - With the points being your input features and the Lines being the “Near” Feature”. The distance unit underneath those fields change it to be whatever unit you need. Once you run that tool, add two more fields, called Xfeat , Yfeat in the attribute table of the points features. Now we will calculate the actual X and Y coordinate of the point features. - Right click on the Xfeat field and click calculate geometry, under property click x-coordinate, set the unit of measurement, the coordinate system. - Do the for the Yfeat but under properties click y-coordinate instead. -Save Edits if needed. Once we have the x and y coordinate of the lines, and the x and y coordinates of the nearest vertex (Near_X, Near_Y) on the line feature. Run the “XY to Line” Tool - I found success using the Near_X and Y as the Start X Field and Start Y Field. And the Xfeat and Yfeat. This should help to automate drawing the lines between features at the nearest point. I do not know how to constrain the lines perpendicular, If anyone knows how to do this please respond in this comments thread. You could edit the lines to make perpendicular using techniques in this video, but then you don’t need the steps above per say. My last advice maybe to use ArcPy I think there is a way to make lines perpendicular using ArcPy, could not find anything that works. But using Chat GPT you may be able to find a solution. Best, Duke

    Hello Duke. In my case the user may have more rows than the space available to see all rows in the table frame on the layout. Do you know if there is a way to add another page to a layout that will show the rest of the rows? This would come in handy when exporting layout to a pdf. Also, do you know if there is a way to dynamically show records in a table frame based on selected features? Right now it is all of them or what's in map view. Thank you.

    • @GeoFolks
      @GeoFolks 5 місяців тому

      Thanks for the question! I’m not sure if there is a way to do multipage layouts yet. Check out this community post: community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-pro-ideas/multiple-pages-in-a-single-layout/idi-p/1016485 If anyone knows of a way to do multi page layouts? please post in this comments thread. If you want to make a page with just a table - I would make a new layout with the page size you need - add a map frame to that new layout - add a table that references the features in that map frame - then drag the map frame off the layout visible background- like off to the side where it will not print - then resize the table to be centered on the layout and as big as you want it. Hoping this helps you print a layout with just a table and not a map. For having the table to only view what is in the data frame and not the map view- right click on the data frame. Near the top there are four Icons - in the same place as the brush with the square from step below- the first icon is called “Options” click on that - then click on the “Source” dropdown - where it says “Query” Change it using the drop down to say Visible rows. This should create rows for what is visible in data frame. As for the table that is too Big, is it possible to manipulate the text? Right click on the table and go to properties- near the top there should be a square with a paint brush in it called the “Display” icon - click this and then use the “Table” drop down arrow - there you can change the size of the text for the headings, and rows. Thanks!

    • @GeoFolks
      @GeoFolks 5 місяців тому

      @@toddmacpherson Sorry for the late response, Scripting can be a route if there are adequate time/resources to develop the application. But if not, I recommend checking out Experience Builder in ESRI online, there is a print widget that allows you to print maps, so you can get a pdf from there. There is also a list widget that may be beneficial. Its hard to know specifically what the app will contain… but I think in the absence of scripting the experience builder is the best route. I’m not seeing something specifically about the table and csv however at least exporting concurrently with the map.

    If I wanted to do this with a map series in arcpro would i have to export them singularly and edit individually?

    • @GeoFolks
      @GeoFolks 6 місяців тому

      This is a great question. Did a little research There is a way to export map series all together. Check out this link: pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/3.1/help/layouts/export-options.htm I Believe there is an ability to copy and paste hyperlinked text in adobe. Or an ability to create buttons across multiple pages. I do think there maybe some manual work if the links to the layer visibility are not the same across the different pages. That is unless there are ways to use Java script for functionality which I am not aware of yet. Links for copying hyperlinks: community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/copy-the-same-text-box-with-hyperlink-across-multiple-pages/td-p/12849247 Copying text box to same position: community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/copying-text-box-to-same-position-on-every-page-of-multi-page-pdf/td-p/5804539 Hope this helps. Hi, is there a way to not show labels let's say within a certain area? For some labels that are concentrated in a certain area, I want to be able to display them only in another data frame which is zoomed.

    • @GeoFolks
      @GeoFolks 8 місяців тому

      Great question, you could duplicate/copy the layer, in the data frame, make a definition query to make sure those features (you don't want labeled) are the only ones that are visible... then make sure labeling is off ... then use that same definition query (but changed to "not equal to" )for each value to omit those features in the original feature in which the labels are turned on.

    What if I start out with no decimal places how do I get it to have decimal places?

    • @GeoFolks
      @GeoFolks 8 місяців тому

      you right click on your feature class/shapefile. Then click - attribute table. This should give you the option for the “Table” tab up top next to the “help” tab. Click the “Table” tab. Under the “Field” Subsection- In the top right-hand corner click the “Fields” Button. This should open the “Fields:” interface for the feature class that you need. This will list the fields in your feature class. Next to the field you want to add decimals to you should see the data type being (double, or a float) If the data type is not (double, or a float) you will have to create a new field with one of those data types and use the field calculator to paste the other numerical values into the new field. If the field data type is Double or float- In the “Fields” Interface - Under “Number Format” Click Numeric - There you can change the number of decimal places. This will allow you to have more variables to round. Hope this helps

    Actually for this you could use Split (Analysis) by attribute value.

    In order to do something similar without python (code used in video description) especially if you did not need the query data you could: - Do an attribute join of the id field to the larger feature class Result: a feature class where only the values with an Id in the subset have a value in the joined table ID field. - Select by attributes - Select where join table ID field is “not null” Result: This will select only the features that matched the joined excel table - Export the selected features- right click on the feature class - go to data - export features

      is not possible to make an intersect between the two ft class? That way you generate a new one with just the smaller ft class

    • @GeoFolks
      @GeoFolks 7 місяців тому

      @@dadb97 Yes that is possible good point, but in this case we do not have two feature classes. Only 1 and a table with none spatial data, just a matching ID field. So we need to leverage that matching ID field since we don't have a feature class to perform a spatial intersect on. Let me know if i'm not understanding your question correctly?

    ARCGIS is such rubbish. Having to add a spatial join just to work out how many points are in a polygon.

    • @GeoFolks
      @GeoFolks 9 місяців тому

      Yeah, in ArcGIS just like other software there are multiple ways to do stuff... this is just one way I have found... definitely probably are other ways and some more efficient.
