A day out on the Swanage Railway with 34070 "Manston".
A little bit of a #different video today- I'm in #dorset in half term to see a family member, and I decided to go to the Swanage Railway with my Dad and Brother. There is also a Purbeck mining museum which will follow in a later video!

A Gala on the unknown model railway layout!
Absolutely epic
It sure was!
At 18:53 it got a bit frightening seeing myself doing hard work there, almost a horror film.
Yeah it was scary for the rest of us too!
They have some nice trains. Not like those ugly Hitachi trains.
Haha it was better in the olden days- way before I was born 😂
Unlike any other preserved railway. The Swanage railway has upgraded their system with smart boards. Which they can show anything on them that they need to show.
I bought a pass to the Swanage railway. So I get on the trains for free, including the diesel gala.
Looked like a great day out, shame the weather wasn’t a little better for you! Beautiful part of the world, made even better with steam trains running though it 😊👍 Thanks for sharing 👍
I couldn’t agree more! All I set this channel up for was to share the things I love 😀
Hey george, just discovered your channel! I was there during the summer with my parents, i absolutely love it there! Sadly i didnt see manston close up, she was in a siding, but its a great place nontheless! Great video mate, youve earned another sub :)
It was an amazing day! Manston was brilliant and it’s really appreciated that you’ve commented. 😊 I just wish more people would engage with my videos and tell me what they’d like to see 😂
@BikingTrainGuy I saw your video on the 00 gauge double Fairlie, I'd quite like to have a go at something like that too, as I love the welsh narrow gauge but I don't have the cash to invest in a new scale - I wanted to comment this on that vjdeo, but the comments were off - I'd live to see an update of it as a future video perhaps? Thanks for the reply mate, really appreciate it!
@ lol it hasn’t really progressed from that 😂. I want to rewire it to give the front section some pickups and the wheels keep seizing up randomly
Vroom
Vroom indeed!
We need to do this in game bc I have no.4 currently being built
Ello
That guard Gavin is good looking 😉😂😂
Nah he’s got four eyes by the look of it 😂
@@BikingTrainGuy so even more sexy then 😉😂😂
Naahhhh that’s way too far
First lol 😂😂
Btw i can't wait to see a video when the project opens
You’ve missed the train on that one! We are already running passenger trains to and from Boughton- a great event to come and visit us is at the Gala on the 21st and 22nd of September. Loads of different trains and formations moving, and of course you can see the railway at its best!
I am taking about hayes valley railway but I will one day
Great video 😊👍 Good to see some Leicestershire engineering with 31289 (Brush Engineering, Loughborough). Thank you for sharing 👍
You are very welcome! Thanks you for being one of the few who comment- it actually feels like I’m doing UA-cam to show people things, not just get a bigger number on my channel(although that is a bonus!)
@@BikingTrainGuy comments help the channel to grow! 😊👍 Keep the videos coming 👍
Thank you!
Gosh that Guard/Motorman leaning out the window is good looking 😉
Oh yeah he’s a stunner!
Good video😊
Cheers lad
Your subs are good. Mine are slowly growing too.
That looks a very nice bike, should last a long time. A couple of suggestions - yes, the left pedal almost certainly has a left hand thread, so does the bottom bracket bearing cup on the drive side usually. I'd suggest putting some anti seize grease on the seat post and handlebar stem as well. It looks like you've got a steel frame with an aluminium seatpost and stem. That tends to chemically bond as well. Good luck with it anyway, look forward to part 2!
I needed to know why they couldn’t dig a tunnel and do an extension for most of the mainline Trains so that they could extend the unused abandoned underground train stations. Why couldn’t they use the part D78 Stock train doors on the sides and also restructure the front face of the A60 and A62 stock which will include the class 507, class 508, class 313, class 314 and class 315 remix and make them all together and also redesign all of them into an overhead wire line trains and also make most of them into Five carriages per units and also having three Disabled Toilets on those Five cars per units A60 and A62 stock trains and also convert the A60 and A62 stock trains into a Gardner 6LXC, Cummins M11, Volvo B10M, Gardner 6LXB, Gardner LG1200 and Gardner 8LXB Diesel Engines and also put the Loud 8-Speed Voith Gearboxes even Loud 10-Speed Leyland Hydra cyclic Gearboxes in the A60 and A62 stock, class 507, class 508, class 313, class 314, and class 315 and also modernise the A60 and A62 stock and make it into 11 carriages per unit so it could have fewer doors, more tables, computers and mobile phone chargers? A Stock Train and 8 Disabled Toilets on those A stock trains. why couldn’t we refurbish and modernise the waterloo and city line Triple-Track train tunnel and make it even much more Larger and extend it to the bank station, making it into a Triple-Track Railway Line so those Five countries such as Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden to convert the waterloo and city line Triple-Track Railway tunnel into a High-Speed Railway lines? The Third Euro tunnel Triple-Track Railway line to make it 11 times better for passengers so they could go from A to B. Then put the modernised 11 carriages per unit A Stock and put them on a bigger modernised Waterloo and city line Triple-Track train tunnel so it could go to bank station to those Five countries such as Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden. The modernised refurbished 11 carriages per unit A stock could be a High Speed The Third Triple-Track Euro Tunnel Train So it is promising and 47 times a lot more possible to do this kind of project if that will be OK for London Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden. oh by the way, could they also tunnel the Triple-Track Railway Line so it will stop from Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex so that the Passengers will go to Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland and Sweden and also extend the Triple-Track Railway Line from the Bank to Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex Stations so that more people from there could go to Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden more Easily. Why couldn't they extend the Piccadilly Line and also build brand-new underground train stations so it could go even further right up to Clapton, Wood Street can they also make another brand new underground train station in Chingford and could they extend the Piccadilly Line and the DLR right up to Chingford? All of the classes 150, 155, 154, 117, 114, 105, and 106, will be replaced by all of the Gardner 6LXC, Cummins M11, Volvo B10M, Gardner 6LXB, Gardner LG1200 and Gardner 8LXB Diesel Five carriages three disabled toilets are air conditioning trains including Highams Park for extended roots which is the Piccadilly line and the DLR trains. Could you also convert all of the 1973 stock trains into an air-conditioned maximum speed 78 km/hours (48 MPH) re-refurbished and make it into a 8 cars per unit if that will be alright, and also extend all of the Piccadilly train stations to make more space for all of the extended 8 car per unit 1973 stock air condition trains and can you also build another Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive Companies and can they order Every 87 Octagon and Every 48 Hexagon shape LNER diagram unique small no.13 and unique small no.11 Boilers from those Countries such as Greece, Italy, Poland, and Sweden, can they make Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive speeds by up to 147MPH so you can try and test it on the Original Mainline so it will be much more safer for the Passengers to enjoy the 147MPH speed Limit only for HS2 and Channel Tunnel mainline services, if they needed 16 Carriages Per units, can they use those class 55’s, class 44’s, class 40’s and class 43HST Diesel Locomotive’s right at the Back of those 18 Carriages Per Units so they can take over at the Back to let those Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive’s have a rest for those interesting Journeys Please!!!!!!, oh can you make all of those 18 Tonne Boxes of Coal for all of those 147MPH Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive’s so the Companies will Understand us PASSENGER’S!!!! So please make sure that the Builders can do as they are told!!!!!!!! And PLEASE do something about these very very important Professional ideas Please? Prime Minister of England, Prime Minister of Australia, Prime Minister of Sweden, Prime Minister of Germany, Prime Minister of Italy, Prime Minister of Poland and that Includes the Mayor of London.
I don’t really see what you are trying to get at here to be honest…
Looked like a great rally, nice cars, traction engines, fair ground, perfect! Thank you for sharing 😊👍
You are very welcome! I would have filmed more but I was going about with my family, who aren’t as interested in the things as me, so we sort of just walked through each area and then went home. Next year I should be able to drive so I could maybe spend a lot longer there!
@@BikingTrainGuy thank you, good luck with passing your driving test 👍 Did you know you can legally drive a traction engine on the road when your 16 or over? Would love to see the instructors face if you turned up in one for your driving test 😂😂😂 all the best, keep the videos coming 👍👍
Haha I’d love to have my own! Thanks!
That is ASOME
It is pretty cool 👍
“100% not speed up footage”
You heard it here first! 😉
You absolutely sped up the footage lol 😂😂
Shhhhh nobody is supposed to know
Thats the music from brain game
Great bikes them, I miss mine. I've got other Dawes bikes but i miss my old super galaxy. Just needs some racks.
It certainly looks the part now! Just got a few mechanical snags to sort out, particularly with the gears and shifting mechanism. Keep your eyes peeled for a part 2!
Beautiful bike, looks to have plenty of life left in it! By the way, that left side pedal is most likely left-hand threaded so that's why the struggle. Hope that helps!
Thanks for commenting! I did think of that after filming so I went to my garage and tried undoing it the other way. It didn't quite work 😅. I think what has happened is simmilar to how alloy car wheels metalically bond to the axle, thus making it nearly impossible to separate them without a massive sledgehammer.
NLR yesterday lol 😂
Facts
you buffoon you spelled champions wrong
🎉
How rude lol 😂😂😂

Very well done young man... maybe they'll ask you step up and monitor the growth and progress of the railway with your filming.
As a volunteer that is a great idea, but the issue is that we need to keep fixing and restoring stuff, and filming would be a great thing to do once we have more volunteers to aid with workloads.
Promo-SM 🎊
Hi George. I've been laying cork and ballasting tonight. Now I've finished it's nice to sit down and enjoy watching someone else.
For the scenery you should try experimenting with some plaster cloth or plaster of Paris and possibly some sculpture mould. Will make infilling/covering your polystyrene far easier 😊👍 layouts coming along nicely. Looking forward to seeing the final result 😊
Very refreshing to see a young lad interested in documenting railway history, well done, I enjoyed your video, just a word of advice to your camera operator, "pan slowly" which ensures a smooth flow and clarity. I hope you return and do a follow up video of trains running the full length and maybe a tour of the signal box operating, would be grand. Practice will make perfect, great start though, I dips me lid to you.😉👌
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice one came here today for the grand opening!
I used to volunteer at the NLR! Long time ago mind you but I remember when the Boughton extension was just a dream! Good to see the 31 is still there! And Sir Alfred (Used to work on that in my spare time). Onwards to the north!
Forgot to mention the amount of times I would hitch a cab ride on Sir Giles and work on shunting days on him, second manned the 47 every now and then too!
Very good video and looks like a great new project
nice presentation young man. thank you
Your welcome!
Dosnt look bad
If you want some more good heritage lines to visit where there are great cycle tracks beside the rails, I can recommend the following railways to visit; Nene Valley, Bure Valley, South Tynedale, Avon Valley, Pontypool and Blaenavon and parts of Peak Rail.
Well done, bit of a breakdown at that end of the Video with an echo but thats not such a big deal. You should also tell your camera"person" to keep still and not turn off in the direction where you are pointing. I love the idea that Britain has so many spare branch lines that can be converted into reasonable Hertiage Lines. More detail about the station might of been good. Like two or three passenger carriages to the points. The total length of the platform and number of carriages that fit the length. It looks like there might be facility to take an engine off the front and replace it with another at the rear to continue service. I am sure the work has all been done with the enthusiasm of a school boy. I have not been to a Heritage Railways thats not full of people excitedly doing what they can to make things better. Only the best scones, muffins and pies are sold with a cup of tea or coffee by the Ladies of group. Memories are shared and new ones are made for the grandkids as you sit on the platform watching the engine do its thing. Best of luck.
What's happened to the rest of the line? Are the great vent shafts still in place?
Nice one mate. It looks great .A big 👍to all the volunteers you guys are awesome.😀
That cl31was the first diesel I drove on BR nice vlog welldone.
Them ground signals are called Dolly's!
Yeah I have had a bit of grief from a couple of people I know from there about the ground signals 😅
@@BikingTrainGuy But if you say "ground signals", non-railway folk understand what they're for, but nobody outside the fraternity can understand what a "dolly" may be.
@@1258-Eckhart Very very true!
That’s going to be one super great extension! Does the railway own the track bed or will it be a shared railway line with a path / cycle way running along side it? I noticed a few bridges along the way.. what state are they in? Any major works required with them? Keep the videos coming 👍 looking forward to future updates. thank you ☺️
Some of the bridges have been assesed, I think the brick ones will only need minor works, but I am not an expert. However the railway will be going nowhere until bridge 14 is fixed as it's metal structure is falling apart
Hat's off to you for you and your camera person for putting the time in to make this and other videos not for getting your volunteering. Just a thought once you have created your video before or after uploading it, be sure to watch it yourself. There is a sound issue in the last section. Please don't take my comment as a put down as it's not meant to be, I'm helping you to review and improve your channel. I watch more YT than normal TV, and it's thanks to video creators like yourself who give me my entertainment. Just another point if you watch Chadwick Model Railway and Horsehay Model Railway, they both introduce themselves and feel this might help you and your channel. Right, I'm off to watch more from you and your team of volunteers. All the best, Steve.
Thanks! This is not an official account for the railway, however I do volunteer there fairly regularly. In fact, I was there only yesterday wiring up the lamps for the Boughton Platform (Which is the one in the video). We have the "grand opening" on the 30th March so come along to support if you like. nlr.org.uk/boughton-extension/
Very good video, very informative too (sadly spoilt at the end by multi tracking of the audio) Tripod or monopod would help but never the less keep it up. (I've subscibed.
