Nearly cause a crash 😂 happening often ?
FSD kinda got bad for me in this update
Well, couldnt have been that bad.... or the attentive driver would have stopped it, right?
Hard to tell from the vid if FSD really ran a red (2:10). FSD appears to be driving like the locals. The Tesla actually gets passed by another car after starting through the intersection while the light was yellow.
I don’t think this was illegal or dangerous. Just scoured the internet and it seems most yellow light driving laws allow the driver to have right of way and proceed through the intersection cautiously as long as they have past the intersection stopping line with their front wheels. I slowed down the video and it appears the car had crossed over the line before it turned red. Sure maybe it could have waited back for longer and missed the light or maybe it could have driven faster to not block the intersection for as long as it did but I think those are just preferences tbh. Everyone will have a slightly different opinion about the ideal behavior of these niche scenarios. FSD is not perfect but it’s improving much more quickly this year. I’m excited to see how good it can get!! Thanks for posting the video!
Liked the music.
The transition from yellow to red appears very quick (only one second in the video, though it's unclear if the video is sped up). Additionally, by the time the light turns red, the car is already in the intersection. I would argue this is at worst a minor error for FSD (Full Self-Driving). After all, average human drivers commit far worse infractions daily. It might also be an issue with the traffic light settings, where the transition from yellow to red is too rapid.
Could very well argue the car was just about in the intersection when the light turned red. Should still not go there in my opinion.
I dont see a problem with what FSD did. Would love to see a human doing it better :D
The only problem I see, is that it doesnt accelerate quick enough.
2:14
good test case. humans do this all the time with a short yellow light. its human like .:)
Wow this is cool ! I wish we coul have a better version of the Autopilot here in Europe like you have in the USA.
nano-pilot, great content it was really good
If you can’t do that turn turn in your drivers license & go with a self driving vehicle ..
This isn’t the flex you think it is
How about the silver car at the yield sign. Was that FSD or you.
Played that section of your video back at 1/4 speed. Actually, FSD started braking when that red car on the right pulled into traffic ahead of you. But if the red car had not been there, and if the white car remained long enough in the wrong lane, I am confident that FSD would have slowed and driven around it, or even stopped to avoid hitting it, depending on its trajectory.
2:17
I could never trust a self driving vehicle no way in hell,I know people say the electronics and the sensors are better than a human but I’m 63 years old. Knock on wood I’ve never been in a car accident that I caused I’m still very very vigilant anytime I’m behind the wheel, and I can’t imagine self driving big rigs on the highways sounds like a bad bad accident waiting to happen
People call you Old fart
In 2020, a the human driver of a semi truck was coming down the East side of I70 into Denver, lost his brakes, chose to not use the runaway truck ramp, plowed into some stopped cars, and killed 4. Human drivers are fallible. Automated drivers are fallible. Which is less fallible?
When your car is smarter than the person who paid Musk for it.
Thats my boyfriend driving my car avoiding in the silver accord! People are so dumb , Nice video!
Yeah! It has gotten remarkably better, but now they need to get smart summon working, and out to everyone who has purchased FSD, as well as these edge cases, such as having the car be able to on its own figure out that it needs to back up if confronted with a situation where someone has stalled their vehicle in front of the car. It also needs to understand that when the sign says no turn on red, it means no turn on red. So they really need to step it up here, because if they’re gonna have a Robo taxi service, the Robo taxi is going to have to be able to do all these things, and more such as dodging a pothole, because I’ve had FSD drive right into these craters, not potholes, but craters, and luckily it didn’t damage my car or blowout a tire, as that wouldn’t have been good, but I’m hopefully optimistic that they can get it done, and soon. Cheers 🥂
@@theodorehaskins3756 Tesla has some work to do for sure, unfortunately I’ve noticed regressions with their latest FSD versions. 12.5.1.3 tried to drive through a red light yesterday, intentionally did the opposite of what the navigation told it to, and tried to pull out in front of another car during an unprotected left…my wife told me I can’t use FSD with her in the car anymore after that drive. 12.3.6 did not make these mistakes. Hopefully Tesla can restore my confidence with a future 12.5 release, but at the moment 12.5 is more dangerous than 12.3 in my opinion.
@@nano-pilot Touché! Yeah, these regressions are definitely an issue that they need to address and do so immediately. Cheers 🥂
Please keep your hands on the wheel, you don’t have the 12.5 yet.
It’s amazing how far FSD has gotten just in the last year and a half.
Wait till a traffic cop is directing against the light.
Car took appropriate action and paused for the car that was coming into its lane. Let’s also remind you that this system is operational under your supervision, and that you are still responsible for your vehicles actions and should be ready to intervene at any time. Stop trying to deface the brand with this nonsense.
clickbait
ALmost causes rear end? I suggest staying away from clickbait stuff if you're a new channel. you will get alot of thumb downs.
Message received, seems this is more subjective than I thought. I’ve updated the title to ask a question instead of declaring a potential outcome. Thanks for the feedback.
Looks nothing wrong
I didn't see a car behind you visualized on the screen. How close was it?
@@edhill8568 not sure why it did not show up on the screen, but they were close enough that all I could see in my rear view mirror was their car and they laid on the horn for a while. To be fair, they should not have been tailgating.
@@nano-pilot thank you
clickbait
1:35 The car to the right abruptly changed lanes and for a moment looked like it was cutting into the driver’s lane. The pause was appropriate.
It’s hard to tell in this case since the footage is sped up, but the vehicle on the right moved out of the right turn only lane very slowly - only doing about 3-5 mph. As the driver it was clear to me that their intention was to proceed through the intersection. Even if that was not the case and they intended to get into my lane, my car came to a full stop and remained stopped even after the vehicle in question had entered the intersection driving straight and it was safe to proceed. I allowed my car to remain stopped for a full second despite the honking behind me before I pressed on the accelerator. It’s unclear if the car would have accelerated through the intersection on its own. The bigger issue is that my car decelerated from 18 mph to 0 mph in 2 seconds after appearing to the car behind as committing to making the left turn through the intersection, this forced them to slam on their brakes to avoid a collision. If the car did believe there was a threat from the right it should have simply taken a sharper turn to the left, or at the very least slowed down instead of coming to a full stop. Especially since FSD is aware enough to know that there was a car following closely behind. One final note, it’s incredible that the software has become so good that most of the issues (even this one) I would characterize as non safety critical. Looking forward to the day when this system is a better driver than me.
I think it was because of the bmw suv that pulled into the lane next to you behind the truck. I think it was just making sure he wasn’t going to try to pass the truck and hit you.
Exactly, and that’s exactly what I would do in a situation like that, because you can’t be sure what someone else may do, and to hesitate for that split second to me was just using good judgment, as caution is never a bad thing, and you can never be too cautious when you’re involved in the dynamics of driving. Cheers 🥂
For me work very good
Bro, this is insane. Is this real? How does it feel to? Just Sit there and relax hahah
Probably needs microphones outside the vehicle.
That would be a tough one to figure out. You essentially need to use your ears (both of them) in order to determine the likely direction of the vehicle. The actions of other cars would give you a hint that the emergency vehicle is near, and then you would scan for it. That's a tough ask for this technology.
So misleading headline. You took your Tesla off of full self drive because you did not trust it to give way to an emergency truck.
he stopped it because it didn’t seem to understand, it could have stopped later but he didn’t want to risk it, he’s still kind of right because it didn’t stop early and it should have
Good point…FSD needs to use microphone(s) as well as cameras. Sensitive enough to hear emergency vehicles even with windows closed and music playing 2:52 inside the vehicle.
Won't happen because that would mean all existing Teslas will not be able to become Robotaxis
@@MarioTengler No existing Tesla's will ever be Robotaxis. Keep dreaming. That would mean in bad weather, they just come to a standstill and call for help ? As amazing Tesla Vision is, extra layers will be required by law. Let's hope HW5 will be enough.
Great tests! 👏👏👏
Although it would have been the fire truck's fault if there were an accident, it's best that you took over. I'm glad to see Teslas are improving, can't wait to see more!
First responding vehicles always have the right of way
Bros like “the fire truck is meant to see that there’s a self driving Tesla and stop to let it past” 😭💀🤣 what a dumb fkn comment the fire truck is 100% NOT in the wrong
huh??😊
@@JordanFreshourbut when crossing an intersection in a normally illegal fashion (I.e. blowing past a red light or a stop sign) they do have to be careful.
@@JordanFreshour (respectfully) you're wrong! yes, you are required to yield to a emergency vehicle- but the emergency vehicle is also required to ensure intersections are clear before crossing, especially on a red light.
Ahh, yes! Hadn’t even thought of that (and the other cars had already stopped). Thanks for bringing it to our attention. There are a lot of traffic scenarios FSD will need to accommodate before full autonomy is a reality.
Cool video, I wonder how many safety critical disengagements per mile FSD currently has. Also, it's really sad to see all those stupid drivers not stopping for pedestrians. Not just in Texas, everywhere in the world.
@@NaxmarsVideos one potential upside of more autonomous driving systems on the road, is that these systems will actually stop for pedestrians where humans would otherwise not. When Tesla cracks the code on this system, I believe it has the potential to be far safer than the average human driver - looking forward to that day.
Great video, just highlights 👍 cool idea
Didn’t know it did that😮
Looks smooth as butter; I think once you can sleep at the wheel, people will get it;
Teslas are good at parking but they don’t always recognize when you may want to use it. You see the car will prompt you to use auto park when it senses you may want to park. I had it “offer” to auto park when I was in a drive thru. 🤣
Taking the car for a walk😌
Sheesh i didnt know it could do that
Wouldn't it be nice if FSD chill mode automatically set 'minimal lane changes' each time FSD is engaged? Wouldn't it be nice if FSD talked, sort of like navigation, but more focused on why it is doing what it is doing?
@@genelane2243 I think FSD modes should also be tied to speed - chill (drives the speed limit and only exceeds on the highway to match traffic flow of the right lane), average (drives no more than 5 over only when there is minimal traffic and it’s safe to do + exceeds on the highway to match traffic flow of center lanes), assertive (does what it does now….)
