Entrepreneurship in Action
In this podcast episode I’m joined by my very special guest, TV producer and presenter, entrepreneur, 2x award-winning author, and elite carp angler Ali Hamidi.
Ali is the founder and CEO of One More Cast Ltd, a big dream that has become reality. Ali’s focus has been to create a brand with premium fishing tackle and outdoor products to cater for a wide range of situations. He’s obsessive about customer engagement to drive future product development alongside the business’ extensive experience in the fishing tackle industry, accessories and clothing.
Not only does Ali love producing fishing products, he’s also a passionate content creator with new TV series on ITV and Viasat (International) called the Grand Fishing Adventure and of course an ever growing UA-cam channel @OMCUA-cam and Social Media platforms.
Ali was the marketing and media talent that helped grow the Korda brand from a kitchen table business to a multi-million company. He’s also produced and starred in tv shows The Big Fish Off, Thinking Tackle, Monster Carp, Fishing All Stars.
In this episode, we explore Ali’s entrepreneurial business journey to date, and how he builds online relationships and communities of people who support the brand. Ali shares how he has taken a hands-on approach to successfully teaching himself new product design and development. He also tells us how he got into tv, developing relationships at Sky and ITV.
I loved catching up with Ali. He’s such an inspiration, and this episode is packed with down-to-earth tips, insights and advice. Ali and I hope you enjoy it. We’d love to hear what you think.

got some good ideas, thanks ! :)
@@armandolicon thank you very much, I appreciate it and so pleased it helped
Clear, concise and engaging. Thank you. Exactly right amount of time too!
@@sandrak4477 thank you so much for watching and for your feedback, I really appreciate it
Hyper helpful! I will use some exercises! Thanks!
Thank you so much - I hope you enjoy using them and find them helpful ✨
Good day! I'd like to know if you have resources for those who have ideas and would like to present them to companies who are 'practicing' open innovation?
@@KoolConcepts what a great question! Thank you. I gave general content that’s applicable but nothing specific, so I will create some as I work on both sides of this all the time, with big companies who are practicing, and other companies who have ideas and want to present them. What questions would you love me to answer? Also happy to chat through developing your presentation with you if that helps.
@@Drjonorth Thank you for your prompt response! I don't have anything specific at the moment, but appreciate the offer. Just wondering which companies are open to ideas and how best to submit/pitch.
What a fantastic video! Thanks so much. Looking forward to learning more from your channel and site :)

@@Drjonorth your welcome! I’m currently doing a course with Rod Judkins in Central St Martins. Have you read any of his books?
@@shamashmindful I haven’t but will definitely check them out thank you. You might also enjoy books by Paul Sloane
Thank you! i will use some of your ideas for my workshop of company values
@@nubiamartinez3620 thank you so much for watching and feeding back. Hope your workshop goes brilliantly, I’m sure it will! Do let me know how you get on Nubia.
The journey with loops / branches makes sense, but how do you format the notes against each touchpoint - thinking, feeling etc (as this is easier to do in a table format)?
Hello Richard - thank you so much for watching. Yes it can be easier to do in table format I agree, the loops and branches can work well when it’s done in a sort of mind map style. I think it’s about picking the ones that work best for you, also experimenting a bit. Hope that helps and apologies for the being slow coming back, I’ve only just spotted your question.

you didn’t describe anythig about scenario and listing
🎉
I appreciate your clear and concise explanation of techniques and efforts to convey it even they can be understood by layman
nicely done Jo. what a great explanation of open-space techniques. quick question - is there a reason you use Mission vs Purpose?
The links in the video would be handy to have in the description.
Here’s the link to my detailed article with more info inside: bigbangpartnership.co.uk/facilitation-ideas-for-mission-vision-values/ . Aside from the links, did you find the video content helpful?
How often would you review and update the plan during a project?
Thank you for your great question. I’d make sure it’s updated on an ongoing basis in near real-time as anything changes in the plan. In addition, I’d review it at least quarterly, although this could be more or less frequently depending on how fast your industry or organisation moves. I hope that’s helpful.
Thanks
This was brilliant and exactly what I was looking for! I feel confident to deliver a workshop with my team now. Thankyou.
That’s great to hear, thank you very much Rachel. Hope you have a great workshop.
You give very useful explanation! Thank you!

Thank you 🌹
This was really well timed thank you Dr North! I like the Blue Ocean Strategy approach and the SOAR analysis examples in a workshop format - utilising what has gone on before. Great content.
Thank you very much for watching and for your feedback, I really do appreciate it, and I’m really delighted it was useful. Hope all goes well with your business strategy workshop ✨
Would this be for a coaching workshop. ?
Yes you can adapt and use for that, thank you
this is a great video! I have a few questions. 1) you mentioned interviews and surveys with stakeholder but before the workshop of identifying them. is this then an iterative process where I would need to go back to interviews with stakeholders that I was not aware of prior to the workshop? 2) who should be the workshop participants, where do I draw the line so to speak - do I invite anyone from the organisation I think can contribute or just the core team? 3) can a stakeholder be also internal or is it just external to the organisation that is doing the delivery- thanks so much for some guidance!
Hello there 👋 thank you for your feedback and your questions. I greatly appreciate you watching my video. In’s answer to your questions: 1) yes it’s an iterative process - start with the main stakeholders that you know about and work outwards from there. 2) it’s a balance between the core team and the right stakeholders, working with numbers that you think you can manage. You might want to have a core team session first, then invite others to a later session. 3) yes a stakeholder can be internal - it’s anyone who has interest in, is affected by or has influence over the thing you’re working on. Have a look too at my article here which has more details that may help: bigbangpartnership.co.uk/how-to-facilitate-a-stakeholder-mapping-workshop/
thanks so much@@Drjonorth this is super helpful :-)
hello sir
I have seen your UA-cam channel, Your content is very nice. But your video's SEO score is very low! your videos are not SEO, they are not reaching the target audience. That's why no reach, no view, and subscribers are not increasing, because of that, no views are coming. The only solution to this is because your channel doesn't have enough SEO. If you want, I can do that full expert SEO service and fully help you. After your channel SEO, everything will grow and the videos will spread to your target audience.
Thanks for the video! Very helpful! Would love to read an article, but your website has a problem =(
Thank you so much for watching and flagging the website issue, I’ll look into it and let you know as soon as it’s sorted
