    Hi, what bearings do you ride? Looking for a superior set for pumping, low friction, good acceleration and long roll duration. Not sure if other lists for longboard bearings take the torsion into consideration. Any advice would be great:) have a good one.

    Pumpers longboards are fucking annoying tho.. I whas on a tour of like 25km with a group of 40 peops, with 3 pumpers. They took up most space of everybody, and got in the way of all the opposing traffic on the small roads. And they kept trying to pass by people wich is really annoying when youre very close to eachother and youre riding 30km/h. They're litterly forcing you to collide with others because they use up so much fucking space that you cant go to the left.

    • @fescolfaro
      @fescolfaro 7 років тому

      You are really revengeful, aren't you? XD It goes down to experience and watching out for other people, I don't take up space I don't have and normally "offer advice" to longboarders alike who drift off and take up the whole pavement. No need for prejudice, you came across a bunch of inexperienced pumpers and they got to you, ride with our crew and you will see the difference...

    I'm thinking of getting the Illuminati, the Gbomb, push/pump, or.... ????? I'm new to it, so I don't know - just what I read here and there. I want something fun, pumpable (and maybe pushable). I'm also thinking of getting something smaller as well, that would do the same things but be better for in town and such. Any suggestions? Does the Illuminati give up something because it's not a pure pumping board? What advantage does the Illuminati have over other boards (everyone seems to rave about it)? Thank you if you have time to answer. (I live a million miles from anywhere, so I'm planning to pick these up when I visit the US in a couple weeks.)

      We're most likely riding the Ultra in Miami in January, I'm a gBomb team rider now, and have been assisting the development of Bossa platforms for a while, if you're around Miami between 13-20th January, we'll definitely bring platforms with us, plus Mark (gBomb Mark) will be there too, so you will get all the gear you want at a discount...

    Your weight and bushing setup please...

    • @fescolfaro
      @fescolfaro 8 років тому

      +cirtap99 Hello! Back then, circa 75kg. Rear trucks don't have bushings (Seismic, Light Blue Springs), front trucks (Randal with a Spherical bearing fit in), running 75a RipTide APS barrel boardside, 77a Reflex medium-tall barrel roadside, Amish washers on both ends. Today I weigh 70kg, and am either running exclusively 77a Reflex on both sides of the front-truck (Paris hanger with a Spherical, 42degree Randal baseplate), regular barrels boardside and Fyre or mid-tall sized roadside, or I'm running a combination between Reflexes and RipTides (75a APS tall FatCone roadside, 75a APS FatCone boardside). Everything is recessed because of the spherical... Bushings are more of a factor of desired pumping speed, desired distances, and how you want to use your energy, but it's hard not to get it right aiming between 75-80a for the front (unless you're really really heavy, like 90kg+). The rear is a lot more complicated, lots of other factors come into play...

  • @fescolfaro
    @fescolfaro 9 років тому

    @blableka I somehow cannot reply to your comment, but here it goes... There are several factors that may play in the perceived looseness of your trucks, besides the trucks themselves... First one would be the angles, front is at 55º, rear at 25-26º in the video (I'm riding it at 24º now). Most people tend to wedge their front trucks too much and dewedge the rear too much for the kind of ride you're seeing there. Then I'd say the flex on your board, stiffer boards give you a feeling that your trucks aren't loose as well, and the reverse is also true (stiff trucks deaden the flex on your board). Finally, anything under-performing on your setup can affect your perception of looseness and flex, like seized bearings (no joke). Go through all of that, if it still doesn't help look me up on PavedWave (or any of the other users, FTM), you will get some assistance there. Cheers!

      fescolfaro thanks a lot, I just returned from holidays but I will be in touch

    • @fescolfaro
      @fescolfaro 8 років тому

      Every setup works in its way, you just have to "re-balance" it. If you use higher angles, go with softer bushings, open washers, leaner bushing shapes (like cones, f.i.). If you use lower angles, the opposite. Just remember: the more dewedge (the lower the angle), the softer bushigns tend to feel.

  • @zelareka
    @zelareka 9 років тому

    what do you think is making those trucks so loose? I have poppies and is nowhere near as surfy

      ohnoesohmygod Hey man, thank you very much for your invitation, I'll hold you up to it, and if you're ever in Wien, we'll go to the Island ;) Are you Endomondo? Do you follow PavedWave? As for gBomb platforms, even though I don't own any from him, 1166 Longboards are making some fantastic ones. Besides that, I'm about to receive some test units from e-sk8 from Portugal, they are starting to make bracket platforms as well and I'm helping them with concepts and will test them. Look me up on Endomondo or PavedWave if you need more info (I'm "scolfaro"). Peace and have a good one!

    Do you know what's the law about skating in Vienna? I get stopped by the cops even for skating on the bus/bicycle lane. They seem to only let you skate on exclusively cycling lanes and sidewalks. btw, thanks for the video!

    • @fescolfaro
      @fescolfaro 9 років тому

      Yes, that's exactly it. You cannot put it on the street, except when you're away from main streets and where bikes are allowed. If it's a street big enough for a bus to drive around, you shouldn't be there. I actually don't know if they're lenient when you take some side streets, or it it's written law, but I've been pulled over once in Linz and have been told exactly what you wrote above, then stuck to side streets and sidewalks, and have never been pulled over again...
