De Soto was good. Getting backup lights cost a bit more but worth the price for safety reasons. Fluid Drive was such a plus. Navy with cream interior was such a good contrast.

Looks like it's been repainted. The pinstripe is wrong the thicker line is supposed to be on top and the thinner stripe underneath it. 🤷 no intermittent wipers, no guidematic or sentinel lights. Bench power seat. Does have cruise control and tilt and telescoping steering wheel

A very rare find! De Sotos were know at the time as stodgy reliable family cars. Not sporty convertables. I have to think that very few were produced.

White leather pretty much went the way of the dodo bird. I had a new car with white leather in the mid 70s and it was beautiful. Don't know why they quit producing it.

I think the idle needs to come up about 50 rpm either that or the choke needs adjusted open a little

Wish more care manufacturer made color combs like this..This model did not tract to straight at higher speeds on freeways, did alot of swaying, but tires then were inferior compared to todays rated tires.

Had one like this, color is what makes it standout. It is hard to keep the white spotless. If this was parked in many cities, would stolen and chopped n sold for parts.

Good to see Falcons still on the road! My first car was a 1961 Falcon Station Wagon, black, (with a lot of rust) red interior, electric rear window, 177 ci engine, had about 48,000 miles on it in 1974. It made a great surf mobile in North Carolina. It was a very tuff car. At one time would have made Cheech & Chong proud (couldn’t see through the windows). Another time I bought an old junker 1964 Falcon to get back and forth to work. When I’d pull up to a stoplight, other people would avoid me and get into another lane so as to not get stuck behind a slow car. On the green, I would push down on the accelerator with no squealing and nothing but smooooth shifting from the automatic transmission, and leave everybody behind. One morning a guy pulled up beside me and said “that can’t be the original engine “ and I told him that it wasn’t but about the same size. It was the “Sweet” transmission that just clicked through the gears with no hesitation! Wished I could drive it one more time!

Did the late 70's Cadillac have the digital climate control?

    • @andrewcolsen

No they did not, it was vacuum controlled in the 70s. The digital came out in 1981.

In my opinion I think this Cadillac was ordered very accurately when it comes to optional equipment. Sad how today automobile company's are more concerned about cup holders than giving a person the ability to order a one off instead you purchase what is on the car lot.
