I'm currently reading "Healing Back Pain" by Dr. John E. Sarno. The book's central idea resonates with me: repressed emotions can't be contained indefinitely and may manifest as physical pain, a condition he calls TMS. It seems logical that we can't completely control our emotions; sometimes we simply need to allow them to run their course.
Hey Aidan, thanks for the comment. I have heard of that author before - I haven't read any of this books but I recognise the name. It makes sense to me that if we push down / repress emotions, they are bound to arise in other ways. Fundamentally, I believe our instinct is to push back on the ones we don't like and welcome the ones we do like, but aren't they all the same in the end? Fleeting energy that is not inherently meaningful. When you just feel and observe that energy instead, it can often turn out to be no more than vapour :)
