I’m thinking about playing this with Chopin’s B-minor prelude, which this prelude seems to be paying homage to. How much more difficult do you think this one is (vs. Chopin’s)?

Horowitz gets the vibratto effect the best. I dont think Liszt was referring to a violin-like vibrato which is technically impossible to do on a piano, but to a sound-like writing of the accompaniment as a bass-waves of sound (those repeated chords)

NO WAY!! I was so excited and surprised to see this in my sub box today - I rarely see anything from Land of the Lustrous. Cinnabar's Theme is so lovely, and you captured it so beautifully here. I watched this show a few years back, and listening to you play this theme is making all of those nostalgic memories flow back to me. This theme in particular always really stood out to me. Heinrich Neuhaus did a fantastic Job with it (Uploaded here from Heinrich Neuhaus - Thema); If you compare His Interpretation with Gawrilows, you'll notice, how much Neuhaus understood in this music. (Sorry for talking about different interpretations than yours.) Your son did a decent Job, too! Best regards from Germany.

i had a feeling this one would be the winner! this one is delightful, it is def my fav major key prelude from the op 11 set. The final one, d minor, (funy that its the parallel minor) is my favorite minor key one

Excellent! Several months ago, I came across the Dover edition of Scriabin's Complete Preludes and Etudes in a local used bookstore. It was being offered for $3. I decided not to buy it because I didn't really know Scriabin's music and didn't want to buy such a large collection of music that I might not end up using very much. I went home and decided to listen to some Scriabin before deciding to buy it. I fortuitously came across your channel and your first recording of this very prelude which was all that I needed to hear! Whatever else might have been in that volume, I thought this prelude was worth the whole book. So I went back and was so glad that it was still there! Since that day several months ago, I've grown to love quite a few more of his preludes. So I thank you for introducing me to Scriabin and Scriabin for introducing me to you!

Beautiful Prelude! I got to know it and like it rather unusually - after hearing it performed on an electric guitar by Stefan Anghel (his video got suggested to me by YT). Now I can play this Prelude on the piano and it's very enjoyable to play. Scriabin's melodic lines for LH are so good!

i absolutely love the scriabin preludes, even their brevity. He definitely knew how to say more with less. I think op 16 no 1 is definitely my favorite of his preludes. the melodies between the left and right hand are so satisfying and the little hints of what would become his fantasie in b minor, and dont even get me started on that resolution at the end. out of this world!
