Clonidine Overdose
Clonidine is a central acting alpha-2 receptor agonist taken to lower blood pressure and decrease central alpha agonism in ADHD and opiate withdrawal. It can present similar to opiate overdose with miosis, hypotension, bradycardia, respiratory depression and somnolence. Treatment is often supportive with the infant or young child admitted for observation. As seen in the illustration, the child will respond to physical stimulation and can usually be quickly aroused. Naloxone can have some benefit, but usually requires larger doses than seen in opiate overdose. The use of naloxone can have some benefit if opiate overdose is suspected.

Salvia Divinorum
Переглядів 32 тис.8 років тому
Salvia is a psychoactive plant which induces visions and hallucinations when ingested; most commonly it is smoked. The plant contains salvinorin A, a unique and potent selective K-opioid receptor agonist. Since the experience of using salvia tends towards the unpleasant, the drug is thought to have a low potential for abuse. As a dissociative agent, harm can come to the user by walking into tra...

Visine Prank
Переглядів 22 тис.8 років тому
The Visine Prank was featured in the 2005 comedy Wedding Crashers based on an urban legend that a few drops into a person's drink will cause diarrhea. This is NOT TRUE and in fact, ingestion of any of the topical imidazoline drugs can cause a serious and life threatening toxidrome. This video explains the Visine Prank, the mechanism of action of these drugs topically and the systemic effects th...

Classic medical student mnemonic for substances causing nystagmus. Essentially alcohols, hypno-sedatives, solvents and some anti-seizure medications. Don't forget Wernickie's Encephalopathy (T = Thiamine deficiency) and the classic triad of: acute confusion, ataxia, and opthalmoplegia.
Pancreatitis Mnemonic
Переглядів 4,2 тис.8 років тому
This is a quick lecture on the medical student mnemonic that summarizes the causes of acute pancreatitis. I GET SMASHED is often taught in the board review books and the only one medical students tend to remember is "S" for scorpion stings. Most causes (80%) of acute pancreatitis is from either alcohol or gall stones. I hope you enjoy the video.
Serotonin Syndrome

A quick video on Serotonin Syndrome. The classic case involved Libby Zion who died when this condition went unrecognized. She was on a MAOI and was given demerol for abdominal pain. Besides demerol (long half life) tramadol is another pain killer implicated in this syndrome. Use caution when combining serotoninergic drugs in your patients. Watch the video and save a life!

Scombroid
Переглядів 12 тис.9 років тому
Scombroid poisoning is caused by a surge of histamine that can mimic a true allergic reaction, hence the name pseudo-allergy. Look for several patients presenting from the same restaurant with similar symptoms. The excessive histamine is formed when certain fish are allowed to sit out uncooled and bacteria convert histadine to histamine. Scombroid is also known as the Mahi Mahi Flush.
Its not just Fugu its Pufferfish around the 🌎 world !!!
I didn’t know she was on cocaine
does it hurt ?
Wow, I just found this channel today and am sad to see it’s not been updated in 8 years. This looks like it started as a really good thing. I absolutely love this drawing, btw, my mind is exploding with meme idea’s that this image could produce, lol.
I work in a mill and we operate propane-powered combilyft’s. Recently, my boss attempted to switch to electric Lyfts, designating me the first one to switch, despite the fact that I was the only one that didn’t want to switch and was uncomfortable with the switch. I voiced a slew of concerns and reasons why I felt that the switch results in a loss of production, time and energy, not to mention their impractical design and how much more expensive they are. But most importantly, I was concerned about the potential health ramifications from breathing in the fumes that one would be breathing after basically “riding” one ton of batteries for 10 hours a day, over rough, pot-holed ground that is bouncing those batteries around all day. All of my concerns fell on deaf ears and I was more or less “ordered” to switch. After several occasions of quietly losing my cool over the fact that my over-all performance was being slowed to a literal crawl with this idiotically-designed, claustrophobic and cumbersome machine, I started feeling dizzy, developed a cough and a headache. I looked into the fumes aspect a bit more and learned that although the maker of these Lyfts said “you’ll smell a rotten egg smell occasionally, but that’s just harmless sulfur fumes,” the reality is that it’s Hydrogen Sulfide leaking off the batteries. Am I correct in this conclusion? I did the research but was told I was wrong and that whatever fumes I’m smelling are harmless. I’ve since refused to drive the electric lyft and made my boss clear on the fact that it’s not a hard choice for me if it comes down to my health or my job. Back in my old combi now, but I’m still forced to work around these other lyfts that are putting off these fumes in an enclosed space. I’ve literally had a persistent cough for the two weeks now that we’ve had the new lyfts. If I am right, that these fumes are dangerous, is it toxic to just be near them indoors and how soon are my npc co-workers going to die? 🥴
How do you know whats in the cocaine? When i was using i could figure out most of them but not this parasite dewormer
Wat does it taste like if it’s cut with levisamole?
I have two close friends that I interact with on a fairly regular basis who are very active crack users. I never used it myself, as heroin was always my thing (until I quit), but very recently both of my friends and one of their friends who I dont' know, have all developed skin lesions that look to be necrotic in the centre. I've only very recently become aware of Levamisole, and I am wondering if the cause of these skin lesions may be Lavamisole from crack use?? Does this theory sound possible? or is it just more likely that there is a very infectious skin condition spreading around within the 'social group'?
Thank you so much for this educational videos. I unfortunately don’t follow exactly. Instead of the fever I drop my temp to 96 f. With kicking extreme muscle spasms. I become a potty mouth which is totally opposite to my normal personality.I have been to the ER 28 times in 4 years. Even after completing coming off all SSRI. I have Crps with a pain pump with dilaudid and a numbing long acting drug. My Nurse Practitioner and I did research to give me my life back. We found cyproheptadine it does help a ton. Is there any other faster acting drug?
Great❤
Can this be meth related
Garcinia cambogia or st. john's wort together with ssri medication can cause serotonin syndrome or toxicity. I wonder why you don't know it.
I had this for 8 years and treated with opioids for the agony. Lost a kidney and trying to get my mind back.
TAURUS LMAO
Is this anything like akathisia?
New subscriber here ....Thank you for this channel.
September 18, 2022 is my second birthday. My symptoms lasted for 20 hours, I passed out countless times, I was shaking UNCONTROLLABLE, I had diarrhea, my heart wanted to jump out, but at the same time I couldn't stand on my feet. When I was conscious I prayed to God to forgive my sins if this is the time for me to leave. After everything, they told me in the emergency room that it was a panic attack, countless infusions, because I was in two hospitals. I knew it wasn't because I was passing out all day. I was on anti-depressants and migraine medication, both of which have high doses of serotonin. I thank God for a second chance, and I am afraid of the incompetence of our doctors. 18.09. is the date of my patron saint and I know who saved my life then. Since then, I've been fighting and struggling with panic attacks, but that day was not one of them.
love it!
I had this a few years back it was not fun. I stupidly took handfulls of Prozac whenever I got anxious or upset. Little did I know
*rubs hands*
Are you tied to the table in the ER?
Unreal how common this is in Hawaii yet nobody knows about it. We always eat dark meat ocean fish.
One time, after I woke up and wasn't sure if I took my clonodine (0.2 mg), I took another dose. I also smoke a lot of weed which can amplify the effects of that drug. I took another 0.2 mg, smoked and got into bed. I remember falling asleep naturally and waking up less than 30 minutes later as a stress response. I couldn't feel my heart beating, my blood pressure was extremely low and my breathing was almost nonexistent. I felt like I couldn't get enough air. My entire vision went blurry, even though my eyes were wide open. I remember almost nothing, except the pure terror. I was waving my arms around but it seemed like nothing made sense. I was stuck in a blurry, oxygen-deprived world that made zero sense. The only thing I remember thinking was "if I go to sleep, this is it. I'm going to die." I may have been very right. Thankfully, the Cannabis left my system by some miracle after I lost consciousness. I woke up to tell the tale. The worst part is, part of me wishes it killed me. I would do it again. It's a very peaceful way to go.
Wow. Thank you for this amazing explanation.
Lmao "drugs of abuse." Ok buddy, right on up there with haloperidol. Salvinorin is about 1/10x as abusable as tylenol. Edit: alright, credit where it's due. You noted the lack of "abuse" potential. But you sort of botched how the DEA schedules drugs, not the FDA... And they're both executive agencies, so they can act quickly on current information, unlike Congress.
😅😅😊😅😅😊😊😊
Yeah took an opiod pain relief last year, smashed my pacemakers in my stomach on the bus, he hit them breaks hard😢 so yeah took it for the pain, went down that road at that point because of my health, ive never seen so much sweat in all my life, type 1 diabetic, bloods dropped, passed out after downing lucozade, luckily i was visitng my mum, started convulsing! Had around 10 or more! I was so petrified to go home with my girl, always me and her! Trying to get an alert alarm fitted, never experienced them in all my life, but my god i feel for epileptics!must be so scary x
If you can't pronounce the words, you probably shouldn't be presenting it.
your pronounciation of Salvia Divinorum is as painful to hear as a Salvia trip
Brilliant and creative explanation 👏 👌 go on 👏
the baby re beard is bcus it's a character from opioid od comic
Thank you.
red as a beet mad as a hatter blind as a bat hot as a Hare full as a flask the bowel and bladder lose their tone and the heart runs alone
I had serotonin Syndrome after accidentally overdosing on SSRI's and it was easily one of the worst experiences of my life. I was in the hospital for about 12-14 hours shaking non-stop, vomiting, and having some of the worst thoughts I could imagine. I could describe it as going to hell and back. Take care of yourselves.
Haven’t you noticed they blocked the sewers 😢
This is the coronavirus people it’s coming out of the power plants 😢
MU receptors word homie 😥.
I think I might have this, but I have POTS so it just feels a little more intense. I used to have trauma-induced episodes, so I’d think that if I do have SS then I would have one of those in-ignorable episodes and I haven’t had one yet.
Same. I’m debating going to ER right now.
@@jessicaferguson4518 I ended up going, but they blew me off like they did the first time I went to them (a few years back). If you truly think you have it, you should go to make sure just because of his serious it is, but I’m not a medical professional in any means, I’ve just been to lots of doctor appointments over the past few years.
Too good...!
im here because of someone selling an "acid rain remover" for cars, without using gloves and i thought its safe then i start working on my car until the pain is gradually becoming more irritating until i cant handle it at all, what came to my mind is to soak it with warm water for about 30 mins, it does work a little bit, in the morning my fingers are swollen and in pain, my nails are having purple lines, the pain actually came from the nails.. i dont know if im still safe or do i need a doctor?
Yes
We all got swollen fingers and lose our nails after each car wash. It’s all normal. You don’t need any doctor 🙄
2:01 the trip is more like 30 minutes to 2 hours its just completly not ignorable for 5 minutes
1:54 the smoke is actually the smoothest smoke ive ever had in my entire life. it has menthol like effects.
It's in the mint family.
Where did you get the picture of the man with the scombroid symptoms? I am putting together a lecture and I want to be able to credit the source
This isn't a "PRANK". That is premeditated MURDER.
yayyyy benadryl!!!!
not a powder.
Marijuana isn't poisonous 🙏
You got that bit about b12 totally wrong. Cyanocobalamin could only be called b12 in the sense that the body can ditch the cyanide and use the cobalamine.
I was missing one...blind as a bat. To be fair, bats aren't blind lol.
Your eyes get so dilated that you can’t see much. Note: normal therapeutic doses make me “mad as a hatter.”
DO NOT prescribe or take Baclofen if you have kidney disease or are on dialysis. If it doesn’t kill your loved one - you might wish for their own sake that they were dead (to end their suffering).
