I work in orthopedic surgery! We do a lot of total joint replacements and sports med surgeries like rotator cuff repairs, ACL repairs, etc.

That’s a good question. I have had older patients who were confused or had dementia and they kind of tried to fight staff a bit. I haven’t had too much physical violence as a nurse (I heard ER nurses see a lot of violence) but there can definitely be verbal violence. Patients/ family can be unhappy with their care or feel like the nurse isn’t around much or whatever it might be. That’s the hard part especially when you have a lot of patients to one nurse. I think a lot of it depends on what specialty you work in as well. I don’t think it should stop you from becoming a nurse because it doesn’t happen all the time (depending on where you work also). @@ashleyeve6641 it`s just I heard of nurse who had to get her knee fixed cause patient kicked her and tried to push her down to staircase.. that got me really upset and wonder maybe I`m making a mistake... but I do respect nurses! you all do very important job and think you should be treated better also bosses should make better working environment to avoid burn out and violence to happen 😞 thanks for your reply! and pls be safe out there
