Awesome job y’all
I've been listening to every Gordon interview I can get my hands on. I love the way he describes his interactions with the artists he's producing. Thanks!
Aww, no video?
Really cool interview!
Nice interview, always available Gordon, I wonder why you didn't ask more about Ringo and Nick Valensi's song - Gonna Need Someone ua-cam.com/video/9r0NthMLvtQ/v-deo.html has many connections with the work of producing and with your interests.
Hello
alright
Nice
I’m pretty sure Will is talking about Soulja Boy’s Kiss Me Thru The Phone
The Bourne Identity is a bonus track and not on the standard album. I feel like the acoustic version is the best one.
Food is to Alex Turner what doors and waiting are to Julian
YES! Good Observation
Qyurryus definitely gets me some weird looks when I play it but one friend was hooked in the first minute, so it is worth playing for people for the 1/100 chance someone picks up what Julian’s putting down. I think it’s just as lovely as Dream Scenario if not more
Leave it in my dreams is one of those songs that just makes me happy when I listen to it. Such an upbeat and immersive sound
Really excited to hear Manny’s thoughts on Tyranny songs like Business Dog and Dare I Care if he thought River of Brakelights is overwhelming. ROB is my favorite phrazes song (except maybe old Hollywood but idk if that counts as a phrazes song) but I generally prefer more overwhelming music for when I’m walking around with headphones blaring
Not to be mean but I find it pretty bizarre that you guys barely acknowledged the fact that Submarine is a soundtrack album. That’s the basic premise of the work and it’s why Alex made it. You talk about being unsure who is on the cover when the cover is just the poster for the movie Submarine and the kid on the cover is the main character of the movie. This is described in the first paragraph of the Wikipedia page for the ep so I’m confused as to how you missed that. Not trying to be insulting at all because I do think you did a great job discussing both songs but I think (and hope) the podcast will be a gateway for the lead singer’s other work so I think it’s important to give the context for why the music was made. As for the songs themselves Glass has always been one of Julian’s most forgettable songs to me. I like Phrazes but this one just never stands out apart from how Apple Music overplays it lol. Really cool to hear how much it connected with you because there’s so many songs no one acknowledges that I love so it’s neat to hear a song that I don’t acknowledge has it’s hardcore fans.
you're not wrong. It was our first bonus episode and we tried to cram it in and we just did quick notes, we'll make sure to touch on it next bonus episode. Thanks so much for the note
