the box art for matrix revolutions always bothered me. they should have just used one of those 4 images, not the stupid 4 panel thing

that is a terrible version of the Matrix Revolutions. I remember getting the full Matrix set that included all of the movies and animatrix and that had some amazing extras and feature length documentaries

Agree 100% many collectors out there have no clue that their 4K does not have half of the content that Blu Rays or DVD's have. Even worse is that there are HUNDREDS of DVD's that NEVER made it onto Blu ray or 4K. If you are a movie or TV show collector then you only have a fraction of what you need if you are limiting yourself to blu ray and 4K. Now that Disney own 20th Century Fox there are now even more tv shows and movies that will never be released on Blu ray or 4K.

the star wars prequel dvds were good, so were the extended lord of the rings. the Indiana Jones trilogy with bonus disc.

Funny to hear someone who doesnt know Keanu Reeves was in Bram Stoker’s dracula . His english accent and acting was notoriously bad in this . Guessin you might be young . Funny to see others into physical media collecting now. Be sure to burn the discs so when they wear out from use you can still watch em later . Im collecting old westerns in Blu-ray or 4K myself

Generally I focus on the main content, that's what matters most to me. I.e. The movie, soundtrack, on occasion materials that informed production like script files. That being said, I think that DVDs are absolutely an art form that was cast aside. I have my critique, and AVGN made one excellent vid detailing DVD vs. Bluray. Where the DVD was just far more decorative and celebrating the film compared to a bluray with a generic software menu. I believe in part it was because we didn't phase out DVD, and that was due to the misconception that Bluray players were not compatible with DVD, which they absolutely were, people resent having to double dip, and you never had to. DVD should have been phased out, and imo, 4k came out to the public way to soon. Streaming was competitive because it was simple, and it undercut that market illegally, by offering everything, then when the husk of Home Video was dying out, they started showing what they really were about, control. The direction we're going in now, is Boutique home video releases through companies like Vinegar Syndrome and Criterion where they include most of this, as a copy of a film from them can rival vintage DVDs. The consumer home video market is probably going to resemble Japan's in the coming years, for different reasons. Where the film industry is probably going to resemble what it did in the 1970s, but with the added option of screening at home for an admission fee. Overall, for public health it could be a very good thing, but it is a tragedy for collectors like myself.

cool vid . i miss this era of fun extras like interactive menus and even dvd games.
