Erberk Eryılmaz: Piyanomun Düğümü (2022/2024)
Composer Erberk Eryılmaz joins the ensemble as the piano soloist for the premiere of a new version of his work Piyanomun Düğümü (My Piano's Knot). Here, Eryılmaz has deconstructed the essential elements that have informed the development of Turkish folk music and adapted them for use in the orchestra. The result is something truly contemporary, and absolutely unique to Eryılmaz’s artistic experience and practice.
About this piece, he writes: "As a pianist who is passionate about Turkish folk music, I have had a difficult relationship with my instrument. When I write for a string or a wind instrument, I can easily find folk string and wind instruments that can inspire my way of using these instruments. The piano is a different beast with a strong Western repertoire, and it happens to be my instrument, as my parents chose it for me. In Piyanomun Düğümü, I was hoping to create a super piano that can bring the sense of folk percussion instruments, the highly embellished playing of string and wind instruments, and the resonance of plucked string instruments’ open strings."

Fabulous performance of an amazing piece ! Amazing musicianship.
Sohn is a wonderful composer. I really liked her pervious work played by Kinetic on their new CD, "What if Pipes Burst?" But "Home" is completely different, and perhaps even finer. Just gorgeous!

今月末にこの曲の第４楽章フーガを弾く！予定なのですが、聴くだにカッコいい曲ですよね！いつか全楽章まるまる弾きたい！幾つかの動画を聴き比べましたが、同じ楽譜がこのように違った歌いクチで表現されるのは実に面白い。 あ～、こんな風にカッコよく弾けたらなあ！ コンチェルトグロッソ第２番も美しい曲だったんですね。こちらもこれから追っかけてみます。
So glad I found this ! Bacewicz is really getting the attention now she deserves . This work is really startlingly memorable and good . I hear so much contemporary music and sometimes there is nothing to hold onto but Bacewicz textures in opening are remarkable then the quicker b section with marchlike rhthms and quick slyness and so much character!

Agreed; found this piece through an appreciation book that acknowledges the pros and cons of various composers. I love the majestic ending of AS's "Gurrelieder," for example.
