    The video is very helpful, but I have the older OBC with the ribbon cable, and there is no description of how to get behind the ribbon cable.

    Very well made video. It helped me get my OBC apart but the LCD doesn't look anything like the one you show. Mine has ribbons coming off both sides of the LCD and the notches don't match either. Do you happen to have any links to this style LCD? I've looked at them all and none match mine.

    Hello, Nice job and I followed your instructions and got mine working again. What does that light/led in the left-hand upper corner do? Mine is burnt out, but everything seems to work.

    • @addisonmorrone
      @addisonmorrone 5 місяців тому

      Thanks and glad you got it working again! That little “led” is actually an ambient light sensor for automatically adjusting the screens brightness.

    • @SHP-dl3zg
      @SHP-dl3zg 5 місяців тому

      I think mine is burnt since the legs of the sensor seemed to have crossed. It seems to work but is dim in the dark. Do you now if this sensor is replaceable or am I better off waiting to find a donor OBC? Thank you

    • @addisonmorrone
      @addisonmorrone 5 місяців тому

      It might still be okay, just separate the terminals where they are touching. Before you look to replace the light sensor, did you replace both of the bulbs on the backside of the obc?

      Hi, if there is dirt or dust on the rubber lcd strips it can cause this issue. Try cleaning them with isopropyl alcohol.

    useful video, I'm just trying to replace the backlight board, but can't seem to pull the white unit out. I'm trying to do it with the unit in situ, do you know if it can only be done with the OBC unit completely out from the dash or not? does that top screw block the backlight coming out? thanks

    I have tried 3 times to get my OBC to work. Before I disassembled it, the light bar worked, now it doesn’t. I have another on order, but I don’t think both bulbs would die from taking it out. I don’t remember if the buttons illuminated before, but I’ve tried 2 different bulbs and nothing lights up with my lights on. I also can’t get the display to continue working correctly. It’ll show correctly for a second when I first plug it in, as if I just need to set the clock. _________UHR or whatever it says. Then the M MPH button flashes red and all the digits act weird. What do you suggest? I can send you a video if you need. I’ve taken it apart 4 times now. Nothing works right.

    This may be a dumb question but why when would I know I need to replace the screen? When the lights are dim, are replace the light bar. When do I replace the screen? thanks

    • @addisonmorrone
      @addisonmorrone 2 роки тому

      You replace the screen when it is no longer a uniform color. If you can see any orange showing through then you need a new screen. I didnt have a bad screen to show in the video but maybe ill add an example photo.

      LCD are literally liquid crystal displays. the cells that contain the crystals in a given area break and you no longer have a functional screen, regardless of how well illuminated it may be
