Salome Schluss finale - Kelly Cae Hogan
What a pile of crap ending- no wonder I've never heard it. It doesn't match the rest of the score AT ALL, which is surely the point of 'completing' an opera? Pretty sure Puccini would have hated it.
Such a pity poor Alfano's version is in fact not his but the vain-glorious metronome Toscanini's. Alfano's true ending is far better than that usually performed. Berio's is a genuine attempt at betterment and is fascinating...
the murderer of Puccini
is this Berlin version?
@BlueCougar Yes! I'm disappointed those were left out.
Lovely aria....
Of course, it's fascinating and beautifully orchestrated, but it all just seems to wander. I think Puccini should have reconsidered killing off Liu. Her death rather throws into greater relief the generally self-centered characters of Turandot and Calaf.
Brave!!!
What in the world is this stage setting?? ?
I actually don't agree, I mean the people are just standing here. In Alfano's version they're glad that they are freed from the princess's cold reign... She got warm and now knows what love is. But notwithstanding, Berio's version is also good... It's only a matter of taste, which differs between people.
now it begins sound like Berio rather than Puccini
FAR better,Alfanos' is crap
It was in the Kiel Opera House in Germany earlier this year. The tenor is Emmanuel di Villarosa.
Disculpen, ¿este es un final de la opera Turandot? o es una broma.
It's really great to have a version of this up on UA-cam ... thanks for posting! Do you happen to know the orchestra / conductor / venue?
