Hi there. Welcome to a video that is so ridiculously long I cannot believe I'm bothering to upload it. But it was quite the struggle, to get this job done. What we have in this video is the process of ripping apart the dashboard, support beams and all to be able to swap out a busted HVAC system, or heater box, or climate unit, whatever it is called. Hey everyone! Quick update on the Alfa Romeo Milano/75 project. After getting the engine running, we did some more tweaking and figured it would move under its own power. And it did! I've been having very inconsistant running recently. The car would be really hard to start after sitting for a while sometimes. It's stage 3 (I've got the same genuine saab 3inch exhaust and 200 cel racecat, but no cel) and I have seen anywhere from in gear peak airmass being 1100mg to 1300mg, and after I installed an open air filter it got worse, partial throttle would intermitantly stumble a lot, and then feel smoother and stronger as I go up, then drop back off at full throttle. Looking at my logs I was seeing a lot more knock detection than I should, minimum one instance on 3 cylinders per 3-5k rpm pull in third, and usually cylinder 1 would get 2-4 on its own. My grandma has a dame 9-5 aero, so I borrowed her maf to see if I should order one, and it ran so much better. Even just cranking it on it felt different, and I made sure to reset the ecu before I did too. It held boost better than it ever had since I've owned it. Safe to say I ordered one and should get here tomorrow.

    • @messengermotorworks6639
      @messengermotorworks6639 2 роки тому

      Generally, Saab B engines shouldn't tick. The hydraulic lifters will start ticking if oil pressure is too low; which happens if oil gets too low, or worse, the pump cannot keep pressure high enough due to a sump clog or bearings worn past spec. A lifter can collapse, causing a tick, but it is difficult to figure out which one of the 16 it is. The chain can also tick/rattle if guides are worn or chain has stretched beyond tensioner extension.

      @@messengermotorworks6639 hi , could you please elaborate on what you mean when you say converter was clogged. Which converter? I am asking because my car has an intermittent lack of power under load. Cassette was changed recently, plugs, fuel pump, turbo. And the problem remains. It's actually today with my Saab specialist who will be trying to figure out what it is. I was thinking about O2 sensor or mass air flow, or injectors.

    • @messengermotorworks6639
      @messengermotorworks6639 2 роки тому

      Hey. The catalytic converter right after the turbo, in the downpipe. They get clogged by sediment, and can react to unburnt fuel overtime causing the guts to swell, making it gradually worse over time. Once the clogging gets bad enough, it will significantly restrict exhaust flow and not allow the engine to breath and produce power. It can start as an intermittent problem and get worse over time.

    I was also worried that it might break when I took off the cover. Thank you for telling me how.

    Yeah that happened to the owner before our 9-5. He was driving down the road and the oil light came on. He thought he was gonna make it home so he didn’t care. Then There was white smoke coming from behind the car and it started spewing oil all around the engine bay, and the engine locked up. When we took apart the engine there was two giant holes through the engine block. Cylinder nr1 was destroyed.

      I thought for sure my engine was done for! It was a miracle I made it home after listening to it tick for much of the trip. My light didn't flicker on until I pulled up to my home, and I was able to shut down immediately. Still running strong!

      @@messengermotorworks6639 yeah but as long as you have little oil pressure and being carful they will never blow👍🏻. If something happens to my car I will cry cause it’s the best car ever
