I just purchased this. Had one as a kid. Your videos are going to guide me as I work to make mine back to new. 😆
@StormShadow_v2 so hlad you find videos useful. I need to get some more vids up, but been super busy.
Loved the video. Quick question, I love the look of yours and you mentioned baby oil. Can share any secrets? I’ve never heard of this method and want to try it.
Give everything good coat of baby oil, let it sit 2 or 3 days on heavy, then wipe off with a microfiber towel. It gets tid of the slimey oil but the plastic absorbs the oil and gives it back life and shine.
@@ourrulesrestoration8150 Thanks bro!
Nice fix on the wheel clips, I have the same issue with mine and I don’t have the broken part so gonna have to invest in some 1/2 inch pipe 👍😊
@@tycondrius23 it works very nicely.

@electricblk thank you. Sorry, I've been super busy and haven't had time to post many videos last month or so. I Def have a ton of stuff i have planned
My favorite toy ever. Just bought a pretty scrappy one and looking to fix it up.
@@DingDongBundy yes its so iconic. Love to see the end results
This came out shortly after I stopped playing with toys. Those Cobra figures on the box art look like aliens except for Road Pig. Can anyone name the other characters? Like who is that laying on his belly toward the back? He really looks bizarre.
@chrisdmowski8494 haha yeah no idea what the design team was thinking at that time haha.

@anthonielegrange8688 thanks, funny all the slang for the same thing in different parts of the world
What's up brother. Dude I've been wondering about re-molding parts such as the wings & both cockpit canopies for a hot minute. Great work & thanks for the tips. I've been using WD myself, works great. Own 7 Rattlers. My roughest rat I ended up using fine sandpaper (2000 grit), on the rear landing gear struts T-shaped joints just slightly but not to much or they'll become a little loose. Always pulled the gear (all 3),down by pulling closest to the joint to avoid any adding any extra torque on the weak parts, inch lbs kills plastic lol. My 2002 orange rat landing gear all work super smooth though without spray. Bought several wings bc they weren't stored well as you know, bent slightly were even with the 4 tabs intact sometimes wings won't hold either the engine piece and/ or the eng. covers, nacelles ? Think they're called. Gonna look for your next video and see if you have any ideas repairing bent wings. Got a box of parts I hold on to. Cool metal riff btw. Sorry for the long book of a comment.
@Mr.Sinister84 i have fixed bent wings on skystrikers, so i am sure it will be a similar process. I will make a video on how i fixed them.

Well that’s how I’m going to fix mine for now on
@jff141 Cool, i am looking for clear plastic in that diameter. If i can ever find it, be an amazing uograde fix. Even in black or grey, it's a great upgrade that works well.
Nice job on the turret/canopy

Need a short on how to remove the wheels
@pkeel7576 it almost impossible to remove wheels on vamp or stingers. They are glued on the metal shaft, so if you try to remove them, they snap off like one i repaired in this video. The only time i removed them on purpose is because the shaft was bent bad.i used a hair dryer and heated them up and pulled straight off. Still snapped off in spine area, then used vise to straighten the shaft and used this method to reattach wheel. If i find a super beyond repair vanp, i will make a short to show how.
The SR-71 and F-12 fighter that the US Air Force should have in the late 1980s😉
@Mythteller i love the sr-71. I remember my grandfather and myself made a sr-71 model rocket. Such a sleek plane
Lovely
@muuper thank you. I'm very happy with the way it turned out. Wish i could have saved them both. I still might try one day to bring the other shell back.
Very cool gliders, but they don't fly huh. I want to find one that does or build my own. I want to fly it like I did as a kid not just display it.
@garthblack8330 yeah too heavy built to fly. If you had them in hand you see that off bat. Def make some and post some pics. I may try and do same. No way i fly a og one or these.
how do we buy those gliders? Are they still available? If so, can you please provide a link,Thank you.👍🏻

Good day. I'm sorry to ask about this again, but is it possible to add a contact link again? The link you have listed doesn't seem to work for me. Thanks again.
@johnkachelmeier1644 i will look it up and try and find it again. These were sent to me by a buddy, so i wasn't one that purchased them. I will see if he has a more direct link
@ourrulesrestoration8150 Thank you. I am really interested in displaying only
Oh and awesome t shirt where did you find it at.
@samellowery Amazon and teepublichas a ton of different Styles to choose from.
So why are you putting baby oil on this I would think that would collect dust and hair?
I only put it on for a couple of days and wipe it off. It soaks in plastic and gives it shine back. Once wiped off, there is zero residue for dust or hair. Plastic degrades over time and gets dry and brittle.
@@ourrulesrestoration8150 interesting and it doesn't weaken the plastic very cool I'll have to maybe give it a try on some of my old vehicles.
@samellowery definitely give it a go. You will be happy with the results. If you have a dollar tree near you, it's the best place to buy the baby oil cheap
inspirational
Thank you so much
My first plane I had as a kid and the first I bought when I started collecting. Love this plane and want another one but keep finding Rattlers, picked up a third one😅. Interesting that you have two different variants. The landing gear deployment levers.
@garthblack8330 Yeah, I forgot to mention that in video that they are different variants. Going with straight pull vs the one with z or s pattern
@@ourrulesrestoration8150 I have the straight but as a kid I had the Z pattern. I didn't know they had different ones until recently 😂
@garthblack8330 i saw it in retroblasting video i think for formbx
I always wanted a night raven. So always is nice to see some repairing one. Giving some care to the must beautiful plane in Cobra's airforce. Looking forward next videos

Using that Salon 40, use a UV light to shine on the thing you want to whiten up.
Yeah i going to get a nice uv light for that purpose real soon
Great job! Love your Joe collection! Keep it up!
Thank you so much
Is the lube you are using on the front wheel similar to WD40?
Yes its just off brand of it
@@ourrulesrestoration8150 Ok thanks! Great video. I have my own repair I have to do. One of the wheels has been broken on my childhood rattler for years. I got a decent shell today, that had 2 nice wheels. Now I have to to a transplant.
Awesome i love fact you will have your childhood one back
I just got a tomahawk it’s complete and unbroken but the rotor blades are bent how do you straighten them
Very carefully heat them with hair dryer and bend them back into straight. Let it cool all way and if not happy heat and straighten til cool until you can live with them. Make sure u hold them on outside of where they snap in so you put zero pressure that part of them. Dont over heat them either or they will melt.
@@ourrulesrestoration8150 thank you for the information will try that
Nice collection!
Thank you so much.
Interesting. Why do you use baby oil?
It gives back the original shine, locks in moisture, and makes that old plastic not as brittle.
@@ourrulesrestoration8150 Thanks for the reply. I can see your points. But I've always read that baby oil wasn't good for plastics. Because it's a byproduct of petroleum refining. I must say, your finished builds look really good with that baby oil treatment.
I have been using this technique for years with zero adverse effects. If you think about it, plastic is also a by-productof oil.
Great as usual 😂. Enjoying seeing a master at work. I had a fang as a kid and played with it till destruction 😂. I actually still am looking for the right one for my collection. The music hahaha reminds me of my grandparents, bossa nova elevator music.
They are hard to find one unbroken now a days without paying out the butt for one. Thank you
@@ourrulesrestoration8150 true. If only I knew hahaha. Going to try and hunt tomorrow since I can't make joefest.
Cool and yeah we definitely played with them but how were we to know they be worth so much to us later in life. They were so cheap then and plentiful. Yeah I cant make joefest either.
All came together pretty well. Good restoration
Yeah I surprised myself with this one. It was way more of a pain than what you saw in the video. I normally edit these down to basics, but this one was fighting me most steps of the way.
