Переглядів 66 тис.6 років тому
An aerial view of the original 1969 Woodstock Music Festival Site. Located in the small town of Bethel, NY. The site is now home to The Bethel Woods Center for the Arts; an upstate NY host to live music, shows, and mass gatherings. Voice over is archival recordings of the festival's producer, John Morris, making announcements during the gathering. Over these hallowed grounds a generation was de...

And just in time.. for the 55th anniversary of the Woodstock music and arts festival this year
Some Good Fishing in the Wallkill back in the 1980's
They should have left it as it was, just a field. Why does eveything have to turn into a a f*cking museum/corporate money making ugly monster, exactly what the original Woodstock WASN"T. Bullshit.
Great piece of video and commentary, I've been to Bethel/Woodstock museum and grounds a couple times and It never gets old and a new memory Is made. Always something different I see, Life back then will never be again but at least It's preserved here so that we can all relive what was great. Thank You
Going to be seeing Limp Bizkit and Bones here for Loserville 2024 ‼️‼️‼️
Woodstock is a reminder of the power of peace and love for one another in the darkest of times, Even today that message still resonates
Thank you.
The sight around the front stage was a lot larger than it is now because those trees at the top of the hill that weren’t there before.
Fucking thieves stole over $200 of our money tonight. Claimed they 'couldn't find' our tickets-which we purchased on the BWCA website. 'Must have been the third party we use' or maybe Ticketmaster, was their excuse. Months we've been waiting to see Robert Plant and Alison Krause and we ended up leaving in a rage. I'm beginning to see why the state let Gerry build a venue where he rakes in millions from thousands who show up, with NO DRINKING FOUNTAINS! BUY, BUY, BUY.....from one of the vendors. Scumbags should have left it to the weeds.
Im so glad I came across this. Many reminiscences.
I've been here twice and it is a fantastic place to see music. So glad it was preserved for all of us to experience.
Quite nice! Bravo! Thank you!
It is sad to me, that I was 10 years old in Kansas in 1969. For what I know about Woodstock is from videos on UA-cam. Love and Peace, that we don't have today 2022. I wish you could place the stage and where people joined to watch the bands. I can't visual it as it is today, it's confusing.
thank you for this....💙💙💙Absolutely LOVED the STILL PHOTOGRAPH for a reference of then,..& now.....I wasn't there,..but that's okay....my Soul can FEEL IT....💙💙💙
Awesome.
I’m just happy the Noo Yawk State Thruway is open now, man.
LOL!
It would be cool to see the old superimposed over the new.
Very Very cool!!! Thank you!
I always thought that announcing the "sacrifice" made by the promotors, was just gratuitous and rather cringy. Too much preaching made to the masses, who were already well-behaved.
They paved paradise and put up a parking lot.
I so wanna go back! the first time experience was way way wayyyy more than I could ever expect ❤
So well done. Great soundtrack. Woodstock was historic in many ways ✌🏼
You can still see the shape of the actual area of the show, which is cool. I didn't see anything there, but it'd be cool if they built a nice little permanent amphitheater on the spot they can use to put on shows. Imagine how great it'd feel to be sitting out in the stars one night in the exact spot of Woodstock listening to some great music. I'd be like a dream. Maybe they have something they put up for events and take back down. Either way I'd love to see a show there.
this is going on my bucket list !!!!what a wonderful place and time,,i'm 69 now,,
We went over the 50th anniversary. Saw Arlo, Ringo, Edgar Winter, Blood Sweat & Tears and Fogerty…camped out at Yasgur’s farm down the road for 4 days. One of the best experiences of my life. ☮️❤️🎶
What a lame repeating edit on the backing music! Awful and annoying!
Great job!

What they have done to the sight is amazing, a lasting legacy for generations to come. True ! it looks a bit of a tourist attraction, but if it was just the field and nothing else, how bland would that be ? unless they held a Woodstock festival every year. I cant believe its now 53 years on, since those glorious 3 days in 1969. Makes me sad to think of all the young people who attended, that are no longer with us. Many went home too the draft ,never to return, but many were changed forever after their Woodstock experience. They learned about humanity and humility, and took with them a greater sense of caring. And it "did" define that generation, for all time. . .and we need all that now, more than ever. . .I wish I could have been there.
Let's not get too carried away with the altruistic nature of this event...for the most part, it was just a chance to party and enjoy the music....most folks attending, ten years later, were just as predictably "conformist" as their parents were.
The Woodstock festival site has its good and its bad sides. The good is that the concert site itself that you see in the old pictures has not been built upon and can be visited and walked upon. The bad is that the "museum" up on the hill overlooking the concert site has a totally un-woodstock vibe. It's better fit for a Long Island winery or wedding venue. Well, you can't win them all.
Looks like the younger generation, that has no idea what happened here. Built some touristy crap to make a buck.
very nice
I was there for the 50th Anniversary!
I was there for the 20th Anniversary. A big party started out of no were that lasted days. Probably the best time I have ever had !!
As with Our Generation, the energies, the imaginings, the hope and plans for a future unknown... this place has changed with time. Some good and to serve others even those yet unborn and some could have just been left to be as it was. May we never lose what was found during those days and continue to bring Light, Love, Peace and Hope to the World and what it/we have become. July 2021
It's sad to see the comments from jaded people saying it's been turned into a tourist trap. Instead of private land that you can't visit it has instead been purchased and has a museum educating people on the 60s and the festival and you can explore a lot of the original grounds. It's run by a non profit. You can see concerts in the amphitheater. Thanks to some visionary people this is a great site you can visit and see a lot of it how it was in the 60s. The Woodstock festival was supposed to be a for profit venture, it only became free because they had no choice.
The Way it looks on the drive video is how it usually looks. The tourism isn't that often just inserts and farmers markets. Most tourists come and you nearly notice them and when you do it's cause they're the only people around the area lol.
I’m a huge fan. Their museum makes rock n roll hall of fame look like a thrift store. Love the land and woods and all the walking you can do visiting there. I’ve met wonderful people too. I go at least once a year. 50th was awesome!
Just attended The Catbird Festival. Incredibly impressed with the whole area. That did an outstanding job creating. Would absolutely recommend everyone see a show there if you ever get the chance.
Yes you can see concerts in the amphitheater but they are ticketed events and they require that you have to purchase tickets for their concerts..I wonder if they did anything special for the 55th anniversary of the Woodstock music and arts festival a couple of months ago?
Was there in 2019 for the 50th anniversary. What a great experience for all the Woodstock generation. Hope kids now can understand the history made that weekend
I am an aging hippie and still believe in the dream. Got to attend 20 Years After Woodstock Reunion in Los Angeles
I just got back from Bethel Woods where I got to see the brick my kids dedicated to me ☮️ It’s a really awesome place to visit and memories flooded in that made me shiver.Gotta shout out to my friend Steve from Dana Point CA and his Jawa motorcycle that got us there ☮️
Loose this lousy repetitious shit fuckin' music!
Only way to visit/have Woodstock these days is a time machine. Sadly, nothing like this can ever happen again. I regret being born too late. This site now looks like your average tourist trap. Magic's all gone.
There are still mini versions of Woodstock in various places . there is an outdoor amphitheater overlooking the Columbia river in washington state surrounded by empty fields . after the concerts , you can set up a tent and sleep there . A very fun place .
It's called the Gorge Amphitheater. Similar to Red Rock theater but more chill and the sleep over parties are awesome .
WTF with the crappy music, Woodstock was a once in a lifetime thing, never again!!!
The actual field always looks so tiny from the air. But overall the entire site looks fantastic.
It's been donated and preserved beautifully. It's a beautiful town and very peaceful here
I'm from Wisc. and have made the trek to the site seven times. Yes you guessed it I'm a crazy Woodstock nut. It's great to finally see an aerial view of the site as it is now. But who's idea was it to put that crappy obnoxious music in there? I had to mute the audio. It was torture.
looks totally commercialized. i don´t think i would even want to go there.
Cool video, but that non stop music loop in the background was outta control. I was ready to puncture my eardrums with a sharp object
can we please do this again? I'd do anything in the world to get 400k people together again to have another woodstock
I dont think that could ever be achieved again in that true spirit of innocence and discovery!
@@thomaskemer8109 that's true honestly. its impossible now since social media gets in the way of everything
As a resident is have to say lease don't lok
We live in a world now where there’s no secrets & too much cotton wool health & safety. It’s so sad to think this will never happen ever again . Love Woodstock. I now go to Glastonbury festival as much as I can at 55 yrs old. I will try & buy tickets for next year.
Cannot be replicated in the spirit of that time. I’m sorry it can’t . I have made two trips to the site. Beautiful!
I agree that background music is annoying. The rain chant from ‘69 whoaa ...oh oh oh oh better
I'm from the UK and this is one location I'd love to visit. I did post on trip advisor to see if any trips went from NYC to this memorable place, it does seem a difficult place to get to though.
there is an airport close to it
I've been there. It is hard to get to.
Wood have been much better if Richie Havens "Freedom" was playing in the background instead of this incredibly annoying music ... WTF was that ???
