    Fantàstic cóm ho expliques, Bernat! No sé si recordes qui sóc: Fina Ramos, amiga dels teus pares.

    my ex suffered from a severe depression, it was almost a superhuman effort to pull him out of the brink of self destruction, most of his family were only partially supportive, not enough to pull him out of the black hole, but it is possible with a right support

      I'm sorry to hear that. I've always wondered why some suffer so greatly while I have many reasons to be depressed and yet am not. I attribute that to my faith in Christ, but I can't help but wonder if it's a brain thing as well. I have moments, like recently I've been unemployed and struggling with self sabotaging thoughts, but this is extremely rare and unusual for me. On that note, I better get back to working on my resume. 😅

    The problem is that 100% of your samples are from mentally ill people. The statistics for prevalence of mental illness are waaay too low. The inhibition of vens is what is responsible for the formation of large scale brain networks. Meaning, large scale brain networks only exist as individually identifiable groups because the vens are inactive.

    Not even a mentioning of ketamine treatment for depression and suicidality. Talking about 10 to 15 years away? That seems very comforting to someone who most likely has been struggling with depression for most of their lives already. Your fellow colleagues seem to be doing a much better at relaying different forms of treatment that are available right now. But most likely you will have to pay an arm and a leg to get it. Which makes absolutely no good sense. That in of itself is depressing.

  • @Omsehnji
    @Omsehnji 3 роки тому

    Is were talking severe chronic depression and suicidality then ketamine needs to be in that conversation. Its efficaciousness alone is undeniable. Thank you for bringing this substance more towards the forefront.

  • @Omsehnji
    @Omsehnji 3 роки тому

    Its absolutely wonderful to see neuroscientists talk about these molecules. The current commonplace medications to treat depression and anxiety are dysfunctional at best. The problem is that the medical model of today seems to be driven by profits and not so much by efficaciousness. People say the same thing all the time. Why would anybody do anything if not for profit. If something cannot be patented then who will pay the bill.

      Better to ask...take place every second. Literally thousands at the synapses of the brain, and then thousands in the gut, liver, circulating cells in the blood, and so on.
