This piece is one of Illongo’s original. A tribute to our mothers and to our “yaya”. This is supposedly sang by our “yaya”. (Yaya means Babysitter). I have a Babysitter in the first 3 years of my life. My father died when I was 5 or 6 years old, and my mother worked everyday to give us all 6 children good education. I missed her so much, I dedicated this beautiful rendition to my mother dearest. Rest in peace.
Wow! I love seeing this!! I am one of your choir students!
I’m olso in choir
Overheard older Filipinos talking about this song: The mother in the song is not really just out to the store to buy bread but has travelled somewhere far to earn money to buy bread. The song is telling the child to not wait for its mother and just go to sleep ( the mom is not coming home anytime soon).
mzuri sana😍
@@joshuamutuma7653 what does that mean?
This makes me so nostalgic😂
Uyyy Philippines
Thanks for posting this video. The kiddos did a great job. Our community choir is getting ready to sing this song next month. Great music.
Everyone else sweet talks comfort to one another and brings fortune to your life till it comes to Eternity
the time signature is 4/4 the last bar was only 3 notes. 2 eighths making one quarter none, another 2 eighth notes beamed making another quarter, and 1 solo quarter. Adding the rest completes the measure since a quarter rest is the equivalent of a quarter note in music reading.
you guys are amazing
Philippines songs are so magical and enchanting!❤
I am curious. This version is arranged by?
It is arranged by Victor Johnson and has several voicings, I believe.
Kinankanta to ng lola ko sa waray language para makatulog mga pamangkin nya ❤❤❤
A ghost of a girl killed by her lover made this song more popular😂😂😂
Instruments made a slow song add on body. So NICE!
Reminds me of my mother. She died when I was 3 years old and I can’t recognize who she was.
Lemme guess. Filmed in 2020?
Yeppers!

I used to sing this song to my kids when theyre still a baby.. i searched this song on youtube just want to hear it, and i came across your channel.. upon hearing this i broke down and cried ..i miss my Nanay(mother)..
This actually should be sang a little slower than what everybody think cause this is a lullaby so I really love your arrangement and ofcourse kudos to the whole choir for giving a much needed emotional touch.
And I'm wiling to pay to hear a studio version from this choir.
Wala diri IMO Nanay and not Imong Nanay.
I was there in the choir!

Made me cry, this song is traditional Filipino folk song

Hello, I am writing on behalf of the Nittany Valley Children’s Choir in PA - what a beautiful performance! We would be interested in programming this - is there any way to contact you about where you acquired your score?
I got my scores from Boosey & Hawkes. Good luck with the piece! It is so fun to teach and direct it!!
