Nice❤❤
ffffffffffff
I started wind surfing in 2019. I saw a video from 1983 bevor this video, and I must say that the equipment, the booms especially but also the sails and boards look far more modern in 1990 than in 1983. There must have been a lot of development in the 1980s.
Back then there were tons of shapers and sail designers and manufacturers. Lots of innovation. Robbie Naish’s father shaped boards for him, and Robbie started his own company early on so he could stay on top of the innovations. There was a tremendous leap forward when they found that as long as there was enough wind, they didn’t need centerboards. That plus the advent of different kinds of windsurfing like wave sailing, bump and jump, slalom and freestyle, where the shape of the board really matters. Robbie especially became really popular in Europe, so you had European companies like Mistral, F2 and Bic pushing the sport forward. Every year new board and sail designs. It got a bit much for the average weekend athlete, always faced with buying new stuff, then collapsed with kiting. These days there are some basic principles that everyone knows, with just a few differences. Sometimes it’s better to have fewer choices.
What time of the year was the event taking place ? It was windy , and now it's never windy anymore.
Hi there! Who owns the rights to this video? Please let me know, thank you very much!
I worked on the graphics for the poster for this event. I had just moved to Haiku from San Diego and got a gig working with a graphic artist.
wow, great story. What computer programs were popular back then for the graphics? Corel draw or hmmm, that comes to mind but it's been so long. Before I even saw your post, I had already noticed that cool poster!!!!
Robby mauvais perdant ;-)
its 1990. The title sais 1999
Thanks, I fixed it.
