Day 8 and Final Day - 4 Rivers Trail, Seoul to Busan 633kms 8 days adventure - Nami Si to Busan
Переглядів 396Місяць тому
Our journey has come to an end. On November 8, 2024, we set off on an epic 8-day cycling adventure with no prior bike packing experience, traveling from Incheon to Busan in South Korea. We covered a total of 665 kilometers and climbed 3,743 meters. I couldn't have done it without my wife, Mimi. Our four children encouraged us to embark on this adventure we've been dreaming about for three years...
Day 7 - 4 Rivers Trail, Seoul to Busan 8 days adventure - 1 Day to go and 95kms left to Busan
Переглядів 4032 місяці тому
We started day 7 in good spirits after our setback the day before. We didn’t realize there were three brutal climbs ahead of us. We had to walk up all the hills, including a couple of short, sharp ones along the way. The highlight of the day was a majestic temple along the Four Rivers Trail. We were the only ones there, with a recording of the chant in the background. We felt at peace, took the...
Day 6 - 4 Rivers Trail, Seoul to Busan 8 days adventure - Gumi City to Hyeonpung, South Korea.

Day 6 started out well. The roads were flat, and the stamp booth was easy to find. We took the drone out and captured some fantastic shots of the bridges. However, towards the end of the route, we went off course and ended up on a mountain bike track. We began to climb but soon realized we couldn't continue, so we had to retreat and find an alternative route. Fortunately, some locals helped us ...

Day 5 was relatively flat, taking us off the main road and onto better, nicer bike paths. We saw more people on the tracks and more activity around. We met a few friendly locals and took some photos with them. Buying grapes along the path was a memorable experience since they couldn't understand us at first-so funny! We also encountered the steepest climb of the trip. It was short but definitel...

"Day 4: Chungju-Si to Mungyeong - Our 8-Day Adventure!” Day 4 of our cycling adventure had us relying on Mapme to find our way back to the cycle path, but thankfully, it led us right where we needed to be. With clear signs guiding our route, we able to ride without getting lost. Along the path, we stumbled upon a temple overlooking the campsite, a detour well worth the exploration. The highligh...

"Day 3: Yeoju-Si to Chungju - Our 8-Day Adventure!” Day 3 presented us with a host of challenges as we cycled through the countryside. Despite that, the bike paths remained in excellent condition, and today we rode more on the road but felt safe. We stumbled upon a delightful noodle and dumpling restaurant near Binaeseom stamp station-definitely worth a lunch stop! However, reaching Chungju Dam...

“Day 2: Cheonho Don to Yeoju-Si - 80 km - Our 8-Day Adventure!” On our second day, we cycled 80 kilometers from Cheonho Don to Yeoju-Si. The route led us through famous tunnels, over bridges with breathtaking views, and past picturesque landscapes. Mimi’s tire developed a small leak, and we had to pump it up as we rode until we found a safe spot for repair. Despite the challenge, it was a fanta...

“Cycling Seoul to Busan: Our 8-Day Adventure” In early November 2023, my wife and I embarked on a cycling journey that would take us from the bustling streets of Seoul to the picturesque coastal city of Busan. Our first day was filled with excitement, but also a wrong turn that led us 10 kilometers off course. Thankfully, a friendly local guided us back on track, reminding us that sometimes the...

This 70km cycling route with 980m elevation starts from Heathcote McDonald's and takes you through Old Princes Hwy to Sublime Lookout and Bald Hill Lookout. You'll encounter steep hills and challenging elevations, but the stunning panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and the surrounding countryside make it well worth the effort. Good ride!
영상이ㅡ너무 멋있어요! 응원합니다!
Your suggestion on suitable hotel near ara west start point would be appreciated, we are flying into Incheon and prefer to cycle from hotel to start in the same direction Thanks Sonia
@@soniaprice6756 Our first night we stayed near the start. It is very close to Cheongna International City Station. Just do a search on Air BNB for Incheon--South-Korea. Pick your dates and they should be plenty, these are all apartments. They don’t give actual address, but you can ask the host. It is also close to where the passport is. It’s walking distance so we went for a casual walk the day before to grab the passports, so we didn’t have to rush on the day.
Can you suggest hotel close by to official starting point? 😊
환영합니다. 아름다운 한국을 멋진 영상을 담아주셔서, 감상잘했어요
Thank you 🙏
It's a great challenge, 화이팅
Can someone post the Strava route please? I’m a Central Coasties and unfamiliar with the area but I,m allay on the look out for new adventures. This route looks splendid!!

Thanks for thr video... I am planning to do thr same thing in late August after my japan tours... Any chance u have a list of the cities and hotels that u stop along the way? Some tips of do and don't? I noticed that u took the wrong turns in copule of occasions...
@@cccheung4006 thanks for the comments. I’m happy to help where I can. Please PM me wscyclists@gmail.com and I’ll respond to your questions.
Hello, did you bring your own bike boxes?
No we invested in a Scicon Bike bag. Found it easier for transporting as it has its own wheels.
You could leave them in the hotel in Seoul?
@@sofialius7212 Yes we could. We stayed at Hotel Manu Seoul. Best to ask the questions before booking just in case their policy has changed. Good luck.
Thanks for your info 🙏
Hi Steve and Mimi, thank you for the beautiful video series! The last stamp booth in this video is not Changnyeong Haman- bo. It is Gureumjae Certification Centre (not part of the Nakdong River sector)
Thank you for the lovely comments. In that case, the next stamp booth will be Changnyeong Haman-bo, with Gureumjae as a bonus. I'll find out more when I make the final video. Thanks
A puncture in a Marathon Plus! Unbelievable
I bypass the hill of death by following the water canal and crossing the Horsley Drive at the cycleway lights down from Cowpasture Rd.
Yes, that’s another way as well. We wanted to do a bit of M7 before we went to Prospect Reservoir.
Loving your videos. I’m just back from the same tour. It’s great to retrace the route. Many thanks.
Thanks for your comments and hope you enjoyed your trip as much as us.
awesome~!
Hey guys, love your vlog! Just wondering if you guys brought your own bikes or rented?
Thanks for your comments. First we thought about renting but my wife wasn’t able to find her size. So we end up bringing our own. Worked out well as the bike fits us perfectly and there were no pressure to return them back on time. Hope that helps.
@@westernsydneycyclists3016 Thanks for this! How did you guys transport the bike back from Busan to Seoul? Could you bring it onto the trains?
@@Maghonyheight We explore the trains and ask around but they don’t allow us to take the bikes on the train so we caught the bus instead. It was around 4hrs back to Seoul and we were able to store the bikes safely where the luggage goes. Just a note get there early so you are the first ones to load up.
When I rode in the 1990's . I never took breaks . Fast times were a bit of an obsession for many , no matter what bicycle type they were riding . In 1995 , I had passed Engadine Cycle's turnoff by 7:07 AM , my fastest first section . I was a setup weight weenie , too . Lightweight everything ." Travelling Light ", remember the song by Cliff Richard !My info was on a Sigma BC 12.12 CAD wireless computer .
Why was there a two hour wait at McKell Avenue , Waterfall in 2022 ?
When I started at Centennial Park in 1995 , the 6AM first group was 200 people .
Is there a Facebook page or strava group where I can find you guys? I live near the Dairy area and keen to join your rides 😊
Nice ride, did it today from Guildford to prospect reserve and around the whole thing and back to Parramatta
Thanks for your comment. Thats a nice loop you did. You should try Moonrise Lookout next time you are out this way. It will give your heartrate a workout. 🙂
That merge on to the Old Princes Hwy looks a little scary!
We were made aware of the merge before the ride and were extra careful. That’s why I included that in the video to make people aware. Great pick up Jim. 😊
It was a good ride, Something New
Very cool ride and great music
Thank you for your continued support.
Great clips as usual. Thanks!
Fantastic !! Loved the intro of names and all of it as well.
may i know the elevation of this event?
The total elavation for this ride was 424m and 52kms total distance. Hope that helps.
Great video as always Steve.
Thanks Rami. 🙏
Great video Steve we need you to speak 🙊
Thanks for creating memories for us, WSC ❤️
No worries mate. My pleasure.
Damn... Wanted to go
There will be more opportunities ❤️
Can anyone join from western sydney? Do you need minimum avg speed to join?
Always amazed how to record and ride! Awesome...
If you can ride with one hand you can also record and ride at the same time. Please be careful. 👍
Excellent video capturing all that riding has to offer !!!
Thank you for your kind words. ❤
5:15 what a shot with the Roos
I had the camera out at the right time. Lucky for me the roo didn’t hit me.
Totally did not fall...
In your defence u are correct. There was a gap on the path. 😊
i see you guys on the M7 cycleway
Thank you for watching and commenting. Please give us a shoutout if you see us next time. 🙂
What time do you usually ride out?
Hi there, we normally start 6am on Saturday. If interested please pm on wscyclists@gmail.com. Thanks
Hey guys, saw you guys just finished coffee at TNB this morning!
Oh really! Thats one of our favourite coffee stops. Next time please join us for coffee. 😊
Nice video, I'll have to come to M7 some day
Thanks for your comment. If you haven’t ridden on M7 definitely worth trying. The best and safest cycle path in Sydney.
I always watch your videos. U guys motivated me to finish the whole m7 the other day 🎉
Thank you for your comments. Happy to hear that. 75+Kms return is awesome. Keep it up. 👏
Nice videos. Hoping to do the same loops soon.
Thank you Dennis for your comments. It has to be the best and safest cycling path on the road. From Bringelly Rd to Northern Rd you can safely ride on the shoulder away from the cars. Easy 60kms return from M7 Preston. Highly recommended.
I left Tempe at 7.30 and setting aside the more than 2 hour wait at Waterfall, I thoroughly enjoyed my 1st MS Gong Ride. This movie brings back all the good memories and I can show the ride in detail to my family and friends. Thanks!
I appreciate your comments and also sharing this video to others. The event was well run and organised. All in all it was a fantastic day and definitely will be back next year. Thanks.
Hi guys When do you guys usually go for a ride? I’d like to join 😊
Thank you for your comments. We normally ride Saturday and Sunday. Please email me your details at wscyclists@gmail.com. Love for you to join if time and scheduling permits.
