I've never heard another drummer convey energy and emotion like Liberty does. What an amazing talent!

Without Liberty, they became just a bunch of guys playing together with no chemistry. With Liberty, you had a rock and roll band…a gang of brothers….guys who had chemistry together. Look up Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. Chemistry. Legacy. They even have Clarence Clemons’ son playing with them….because Bruce knows how important a band is, and how important original members are to the show, to the music. I’ll take a rock and roll band every day of the week.

Could watch Liberty play drums all day. Always always looks like he's having a ton of fun.

I saw the Lords Of 52nd Street last year and he blew me away. So much energy and his drums filled the entire hall. After the show he came out, signed autographs and took pics with the huge line of people waiting in the lobby. For free. Rare to see that these days. Just an amazing drummer and person.

The core DNA to so many of Joel's biggest hits. Just so sad there was a falling out, Joel's live shows really suffered without Liberty

Billy Joel had the same drummer during the albums of : Turnstiles, The Stranger, 52nd Street and Glass houses. And Liberty Devitto was it. He was the creator of many iconic drum parts on those albums.. He was part of the engine behind Billy's success. He should be more well known than he is.

This quickly became my favorite song after seeing it live, based mainly on the way Liberty attacked the drum kit
