The Soame Steam Cart goes to Norwich
Переглядів 3122 роки тому
Our incredible Soame Steam Cart had a special appearance in Norwich this summer (2022). Some of our museum crew, volunteers and special guests made quite the entrance to the Prom at Norwich Assembly House. It was a wonderful sight to see the steam cart make her way through the city once again.

Restarting The Dover Engine
Переглядів 3,3 тис.2 роки тому
After two years of being out of action, The Dover Engine was restarted once again for the upcoming season. All our engines have been waiting while a new steam pipe network was fitted throughout the Museum. It didn't take too much to get her going again being such a well designed, reliable and beautiful engine. A few groans but away she went!

Welcome to Forncett Industrial Steam Museum
Why do you call it the Dover engine when it was from Folkestone ?
Interesting to hear how it all worked, didn't expect that kind of system, but it's very clever!
Doc Emmett Brown! It's you?😂
When I toured the Tower Bridge in the mid-80s I saw an engine... I guess it was not this one? One like it?
I found this museum to be fascinating! Thank you for saving these mechanisms.
What is the engine audio from your intro from
I love these stories so much.
🙏🇺🇲✌️
good to see more from you gents
Our journey insist on Yesterday - Today - Tomorrow.
I like that.
The reliability on these things is something else, I mean only Nuclear can come close to these. What you mean not stopping for 27yrs. You mean it never ran out of Coal.😀
Usually they ran off wood or coal or whatever fuel was available, plus the steam oil and lubricants had to be constantly monitored.
Flywheel katny ton ka ha
Built in 1873 and still running.
Turn it on you monsters
We have a running demonstration films already on our channel, we shall provide a link for you. The Dover Engine is also run in full steam for the public once a month. ua-cam.com/video/FTc7Bb4whAA/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/fjtZBtdB850/v-deo.html
@@forncettindustrialsteammus2992 sorry 🌚
Fabulous. Will be lovely to visit again
Very nice!
Sometimes I really wonder about those that look at UA-cam. All the effort to get this engine back as a living thing and just ONE comment. I've SUBD it's the least I can do. I'm an old school engineer, thank you all. Regards.
JP, we appreciate what you are saying here. Being an engineer yourself you clearly recognise the passion and hard work that restoring these engines entails! Watching on UA-cam certainly may only give our online audience a glimpse to the reality of the story these engines hold, as well as the people involved! Our goal here at the museum is 'education through enjoyment' and to have these majestic machines running for real with the power of steam. Visiting in person one can experience the magnitude, sound and smell of these mercy giants moving and truly alive! Thank you for your support and subscription, we hope to add much more here on the channel as we grow our online coverage. Best wishes from the team at Forncett Industrial Steam Museum.
What an Amazing idea! I'm a volunteer at ellenroad, if you ever do something like this again. My band would happily play for you
Thanks very much, we hope to do more events like this in the future. What is the name of your band, we'd love to check out your music.
Amazing foresight and thoughtfulness to have saved such an amazing piece of history.

She's been sleeping for quite some time. The old girl just needed a bit of extra warming up.
Great video, she's slick and neat. How many horsepower at full rated speed?
Thanks Rick, we are so happy to have her running again. She tops around 600 horsepower, when working she pumped 98,000 gallons every hour, raising the water over 450 feet. A true working beauty!
Excellent work 👏
Thanks very much, we are pleased to have her running again. She's like poetry in motion!
0:21 a wee bit of a time distortion there , laddie.
What a piece of artwork. I am so glad to see it running on a vacuum properly.
SPRUCE is indeed a work of art! We are very happy to be able to run our exhibits on steam as they should be.

Hark double Hark it's the Dover boys engine
Excellent news!
A cup of tea fixes many problems!
Looks very similar to the Titanic's engine, but smaller.
When you took the engine did you get it for free? Who owns it?
The engine was donated to us on 2 conditions : first being that we would pay to get the engine extracted from the site, and second being that she would eventually be available to the public to view. Our founder Dr. Rowan Francis made the Museum and its entire collection a charitable trust in 2018 securing the future of the collection and to keep them preserved and running in steam for everyone to learn from and enjoy.
I loved your story of removal of the engine, just two friends saving a jewel. I'm glad to follow in your footsteps. Brilliant to see it run on steam keep up the good work
Thank you A.E. Karnes, it's great to hear appreciation of our efforts from fellow steam enthusiasts. These beautiful machine gems can still be great preserved relics of our industrial heritage for future generations to learn from and enjoy. We are very interested in seeing what you have been doing on your channel so we have subscribed. All the very best, Rowan and the team at FISM.
@@forncettindustrialsteammus2992 since everyone seems bent hard at making the world into a technological wasteland, these engines and machines like them will have everything to re-teach us about ourselves in the end. I'll be sure to visit when I am next over....
@@AEKarnes completely agree! It is surely remarkable what the test of time reflects back at us. Hopefully see you for a steam up one day, we have accommodation on site too (cabins and shepherds huts)
@@forncettindustrialsteammus2992 I'd come over to help out more than just see, and that is very good to know.
@@AEKarnes Sounds great, let's keep in touch!
Wonderful effort and what a fantastic outcome. Hats off to you and your team what a dedication
Thank you Sanjay, it is our upmost passion to see these wonderful machines restored and working. We hope to see you for a steam up someday! All the very best, Rowan.
