IEDs in Afghanistan
An improvised explosive device (IED) is a bomb constructed and deployed in ways other than in conventional military action. It may be constructed of conventional military explosives, such as an artillery shell, attached to a detonating mechanism. IEDs are commonly used as roadside bombs, or homemade bombs.
The term "IED" was coined by the British Army during the Northern Ireland conflict to refer to booby traps made by the IRA, and entered common use in the U.S. during the Iraq War.
IEDs are generally utilized in terrorist operations or in asymmetric unconventional warfare or urban warfare by insurgent guerrillas or commando forces in a theatre of operations. They were used in Afghanistan by insurgent groups, and caused over 66% of coalition casualties in the 2001-2021 Afghanistan War.

Incredible gigantic aircraft. The worlds #1 submarine hunter in the 1960’s. Incredible range setting a world record of 31 hours of non stop flight. Low, slow and steady as she goes. A Russian subs worst nightmare. An Argus flown by 407 Maritime Patrol Squadron on 1-2 October 1959 held the Canadian military record of slightly over 31 hours for the longest flight by an unrefuelled aircraft, while covering a distance of 4,570 mi (7,350 km) from RNZAF Base Ohakea in New Zealand to Naval Air Station Barbers Point in Hawaii. 415 Squardron Summerside

I was told that our boy know how to fire the howitzer without any assistance from any electronics. We hear them firing these big boys at Base Petawawa.

Were you on PCS orders there?
@reelramon7469 I was deployed there, just left October of this year, state department has taken it over now.
I have PSC orders to Camp As sayliyah for 1 year this FEB
@reelramon7469 man I'm sorry, there's literally nothing to do on that base now they've gutted it so much even from when I was there. Make sure you hop on the shuttle bus to go to AUAB often that helps.

Renault's truck with a mack badge slapped on it....Canada's Army uses them
Hated every single second wearing this dust--and-lint magnifying of an awkward-green-shaded American-look-alike uniform. If we're gonna wear the old pips and crown Commonwealth army rank and old divisional patches we should be wearing Khaki service dress like most of the English-speaking Commonwealth countries.
my gfs surgery be like:
this reminded me nice old days. I used to work here..
Same bro. I was at camp Julien in 2012 for about 9 months

The APFSDS is not always made of depleted uranium. Most often, it is made of tungsten which is much tougher. Depleted uranium can be added to make the dart heavier.
I would rather say to make it denser, not heavier.
@@x-raygamma Density is mass per given volume so making it denser also makes it heavier.
Two advantages of Uranium over Tungsten Carbide, 1) it's self-sharpening so that it doesn't blunt as it penetrates the armour and 2) it's pyrophoric, it burns like Magnesium after impact so it has an incendiary effect.
@@nicholasmaude6906 AFAIK Uranium is a soft metal so it tends to flatten on impact pretty much like lead bullets. Tungsten is considerably tougher.
@@francoisleveille409 As far as I know Uranium isn't a soft metal like Lead, here's from the Uranium wiki article on military applications (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uranium#Military): "The major application of uranium in the military sector is in high-density penetrators. This ammunition consists of depleted uranium (DU) alloyed with 1-2% other elements, such as titanium or molybdenum.[19] At high impact speed, the density, hardness, and pyrophoricity of the projectile enable the destruction of heavily armored targets. "
I'm on the organic side of this really miss being on the machines droids sides of all this
Marauder?
Great we are now there
