Rising female rap star talks about her struggles with mental health
#JOSA #JournalOfSuicidalArtists #YoureNotAlone
In this video a female rapper from Calgary, Per$ia, shares her experience with anxiety and depression and how she overcame her adversities and continues to pursue her passion.
This video is part of a larger project which can be found at:
www.JournalOfSuicidalArtists.com
You can stream the collection of music created by all of these incredible artists by visiting:

The aim of this project is to connect people who otherwise feel alone in dealing with their depression, anxiety, thoughts of suicide, and many other mental health issues.
HERE'S THE STORY...
At first, this project started as an attempt to dissect and understand a darker part of the fabric of life but it quickly evolved into an experience of a lifetime for the founding artists now known as The Original XV.
You see, we all faced a common issue among our peers but we were basically keeping it from each other despite the fact that we were pretty much the same types of people. Creatives.
The problem we kept ducking and dodging was SUICIDE and the fact that we're just not talking about it. Not only was this a big problem among the group, there are people we all love suffering every second with real physical pain and they're too afraid to say that they're just as tired as we were.
If we weren't talking about it neither were the people we loved so here we all were pretending to be tough so that we didn't lose whatever tiny amount of love or admiration we were clinging onto. That's the hardest part of the problem for us all to grasp. It wasn't just us...
People who we love are ready to give up... And no one is talking.
They are silently battling with this idea that they have no value in the world and that life has nothing left to offer and so the only way to end the suffering is through death.
And even though suicide is something we thought about, it's not the solution. Each of the artists that contributed to this project found a path to something that helped them in their darkest moments. They chose to share their stories with the world so that we could all have a few more options.
We came together to spread the message that we all need to collectively acknowledge that depression, anxiety, PTSD, suicide, and other mental health afflictions are plaguing our population, hurting the people we love every single day.
We need to talk about why we all feel like this at least once in our lives and what tools are out there to help us overcome our adversities. Because some of us weren't afforded those tools in our environments. If we understand the problem at its core then the solutions are that much easier to find.
The brave artists that came together to tell their story are just the beginning. They are the pioneers leading us towards a brighter future where we can work collectively to overcome challenges rather than against one another.
If you want to contribute to this project there are a couple ways to become a part of the movement. The first way to show your support by sharing this with someone you think needs to hear it.
The second way is by purchasing something from our collection of apparel. We've put together a collection of items featuring art from our project and joint efforts from other artists who have contributed creatively to this project.
A portion of all proceeds go directly towards a variety of charities whose sole focus is issues surrounding mental health. You can see a list of the charities we are working with currently over at:
www.JournalOfSuicidalArtists.com
One more thing... If you have a story to tell visit our guestbook and share your experience and how it helped you become the person you are today.
If you are an artist and wish to contribute something musically we're excited at the opportunity to immortalize your message for the world to share.
