** SUPPLIES **
I try my best to be sustainable with all of my supply purchases - this often means being very patient and waiting for a lot of those supplies to appear in charity shops! However, I do buy some things new and when I do I will link to them!
- plain coloured fabric (I used old bedding)
- acrylic paint
- stamps and permanent stamping ink
- gelli plate or other surface for rolling paint
- iron

5 ways with tea bags for your journals and mixed media art
I love the fabrics. The numbers and letters really set them off.
Thanks so much S ❤️
Thank you for the time you invested in making this video - WOW! - a new techniques (to me) and I especially love the first two versions and can see their potential as fabric master boards. This was an education for me and very much appreciated x
Thank you so much for watching! I love the idea of fabric master boards!
What type of cloth are you using? Did you say Alum? For what?
I tend to just reuse old bed sheets so mostly cotton, sometimes linen. Synthetic fabrics don’t work well for eco dyeing. Alum is used as a mordant - it helps make the colour more vibrant and last longer.
Thank you
Thank you, darling 🙏🏻 I absolutly ADORE this new magic book for the next year 🥰♥️🙏🏻 and each page reminds me of the beautiful soul that made it for me ♥️🙏🏻
You are so welcome! I hope it brings you even more joy in the year to come!
It's always good to hoard things. 😂❤❤❤
Yup! Never know when it might be handy!!
Wonderful ❤️ I will check it out in your Etsy 🥰🙏🏼
Thank you 🤩
you used three times as much glue/conditoner as you did with the glue alone. But what fun! I'm gonna try that ...thanks!
Oh I am well known in the family for lack of proportions - even when cooking I’m like yeah that looks good enough! I hope your experiment goes well!
They turned out beautifully! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much 😊
Haha Here in Germany a few weeks ago we also had ladybug season ;) Stinkbugs included. Stinkbug season is still going on though
Yes they are everywhere!! Bring in the laundry - stink bug, open a window for some fresh air - stink bug, turn on the light in the evening- stink bug! Hopefully it will end soon!!
I will try, looks so much fun!! 😀❤️
You should!
Yes, I know what it is because I still use one 🤣 you make yarn and threads from wool and linnen and such 🥰 spinning wheel maybe? So interesting to see a thrift shop in Italy! I will try to make a video here in Sweden and yes, Italian and Scandinavian must be each other’s total oposites 🤣🤣🤣
Oh so it is a spinning wheel!! Might have to go back and see if it is still there - I’ve always been curious to learn how to use one! And yes do a video of your local store! I bet they have tons of cool things!!
@@wildandfreeartthey are extremely expensive here since everyone wants one and they are considered an antique ❤️ if you have the budget - buy it! 😊
I am totally going to ask the price!
Gorgeous journal! 😍
Thank you so much!
I'm just watching you about to use Elmer's glue, and foreseeing that one drying into an unusable lump. They will show a lot more on black. I think the glue one may work if you include a drop or two of baby oil to keep the glue from hardening.
I like the idea of baby oil. I will give it a go. Need to make a new batch now anyway! I did find the glue one dried out more in the end
that's what I was thinking!
OMG! This is brilliant! So happy I stumbled into this!!! Thank you!!!
So happy it’s inspired you!! Hope you have fun getting messy!
Looks great, my favourite animal.
Aww 🥰 thank you ☺️
Very nice
Thank you so much!!😊
So lovely 🥰🙏🏼❤️
Thanks so much ♥️
This was a terrific demonstration, but make sure your hands and knots are in the middle of the frame of the camera. Everything was too far down for most of the tying.
Hi yes I have been working on improving my filming skills since I made this video! Thank you for your feedback!
Do hornets get relocated where you live? Here in germany they take the nest and put it somewhere else Ps: I think its ok that you do not always talk during crafting. I dont like those videos that are only talk. If its a real tutorial where you teach something I get it but if you need to think a while about ehat you are doing there is nothing wrong with staying silent^^ Pps: how I keep track of my stuff? Not at all xD I bought so much stuff to organize myself and now its worse than before xD. Now i use so many different storage solutions I am more confused than before
Haha that last part of your comment made me laugh - seems a lot like me! Sadly it seems that relocation wasn’t an option for these guys 🥲 to be fair they were in a pretty precarious place (top floor of an apartment above a window) and the guy had to do some acrobatics to reach them! But it did make me sad that they couldn’t be relocated.
@@wildandfreeart ah, I see! thats very sad.. but its nice you could keep a memento of sorts
Congrats! How cute hehe :) I hope your channel will grow further! You really deserve it! I don't need ultra polished content. I like what and how you do it. Of course people now a days demand more and more, but don't over do it! PS: oh and of course Happy Birthday! PPS: Am I allowed to do that in advance?
Thank you so much! And yes you are allowed to say it early 😂 I truly appreciate all of your support and your lovely comments over this past year!
Congratulations darling! 🌻❤️🙏🏼 how sweet of you ❤️ thank you, and I hope your channel will grow and inspire ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks so much to you for all your support all this time <3
Now I'm going to have to start pressing flowers and grasses instead of just leaves. I love how leaves look, but I also love how the flowers and grasses you used looked with their interesting colors, shapes, and textures. Thanks for all these interesting ideas!
Yes give it a go!! I try pressing everything I can because you never really know how it will come out! Sometimes you might be surprised :)
I mix with clear shoe polish....Comes out great and cheap.
Great tip! I never thought of that!! I will have to give it a go!
WHOA! Cool idea!
I love your journal! It’s different, unique and - enchanted ❤️🥰🙏🏼
Aww thank you so much! I’m happy you like it! Im quite pleased with how it turned out too!
Silver would look great as a highlight on snow!
Oh yes! I bet you could make all sorts of colours!
The first one seems to have more liquid in it.
From using it it does thicken and dry out a bit over time, probably from evaporation.
Wow, your instructions are clear and easy to understand. Thank you.
Thank you so much! I’m glad this was helpful!
Most of the stuff I'm trying to see is half off screen on the bottom ... And I can't see at all when I need to use closed captions. It's very frustrating.
I do apologise - I have improved since then but am still learning my filming skills! I would be happy to help you directly if there is some particular part you were unable to see?
Love it! Can't wait to see what you do inside. x
Thanks so much!! I’m working on it!!
Beautiful ❤️🙏🏼 love your ideas 🥰
Thanks so much 😊
Thank you that made sense.
I’m glad it helps!!
Congrats, good to have an update on your summer.
Thanks! I’m pretty excited :) and nervous!
Congratulations! I am so happy fot you , dear ❤️🙏🏼
Thank you so much!! I just wish I could go in person but pictures will have to do!
If you're sick, just take a rest :) stay healthy!
Aww thank you! You are so kind! I am much better now :) but next time I will certainly take your advice 🩷
@@wildandfreeart haha^^ thats good to hear ;)
So creative.
Thank you so much! Hope you give it a go!
Yeah food dye is not pigmented enough. Maybe it would have worked a bit better with paste as a base, so it would have stayed longer in the pages
That might be a good idea. I think this was just cheap coloring from the discount store so probably not the best quality either!
Thats a cool pack ^^ i bought a bigger one and now i put way too much stuff in it. This looks more practical
Thanks! It is hard to control yourself though - when you are packing there are a lot of what if questions that pop up so you keep adding more stuff 😂
@@wildandfreeart exactly!
I do have a pittle leftover paste from makinf bookcloth. Maybe i will try this paper project
Give it a go! It won’t hurt to try and will save your from wasting the leftovers :)
I have yet to even open my gelli plate that i got for Xmas. I think you're getting there keep going 😊
lol you should crack it out to experiment! I’m sure I will figure it out eventually 😂
@@wildandfreeart might well do and tag you in the disaster video 😜
Oh do it!!! 😂
Where do you find the feathers…on the ground???
Yes! On walks, I got some feathers from a friend who has a parrot and one who has chickens but most come from going on walks or even in my back yard!
I once found a peacock feather in a park/zoo 🥰
Yes zoos are another great place!
@@wildandfreearthow do you paint the little fluffy ‘Angel’ wing feathers, please?
LOVED IT ❤ Thank you so much 😊
So happy you liked it!! Thank you so much for watching 🩷
Wow, great test/tutorial! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much for taking the time to watch!
Great idea! I have done something similar to hold my stamps. I had ti make the box shorter to fit the shelves they go on. They sort of like short file folders. Just covered them in my old dictionary paper.
Yes! I have used this technique now to make a ton of other storage but figured sharing that might be a bit much 😆
Great idea I have a whole collection of dried leaves, and now I can do something with them.TFS
You are so welcome! I hope you have fun painting them!
very creative and amazing
Thanks so much 🩷
This is so creative what kind of stitches that it looks a bit like Coptic but then not.... Do you have a tutorial on that or where did you learn that stitch?❤
It is called slipknot binding - I made a tutorial on it in the video before this one, but you can just search as there are plenty of videos out there I am sure! It is great for single page binding and super easy to do too!
beautiful
Thank you! 😊
this is really awesome
Thanks so much!
I couldn’t see how you did this as you did it off the camera view. It looked sooooo interesting though. Hopefully you can show again bc I would absolutely love to learn this technique. Thanks for sharing anyways 😊
I am truly sorry I need to clearly improve my camera skills - I will try and make a short that shows a close up of how it works! Hopefully that will help!
Notes From Nature is such a beautiful artist book love everything that youve done. I'm going see if I can create something similar im not an artist or anything like that, hopefully it will turn out ok lol Looking forward to watching more of your videos and your beautiful creative work that you do.
I think Junk Journals are a wonderful way to be creative without beeing an "Artist" :) Its a really freeing and loose way of beeing creative
@sharbee8033 thank you so much for your kind words!! You don’t need to be an “artist” to be a creative! Give it a go and I am sure it will be beautiful because you made it 🩷
I absolutely agree with you!
