That first trick by Yuto is something only he can do. It's unreal the hardest 540 ever done.

don't forget to mention 33% of the score is purely based on the lines, and 66% is based on single tricks, making a solid run score almost mandatory to place unless your single tricks are phenomenal

this is all fine and structured BUT we definietly need public acess on how those are weighted in. How much scores Flow over Difficulty? What are the difficult tricks? Is it worth it going bigger and faster or more tec and original? Everyone is on the same page what makes Skateboarding great but not on how is best balanced. Competitive Skateboarding is like a cake competition but not knowing what the actual receipe is exactly. Every major sport can point to not only exact criteria and how those are fufilled but also at the actual numbers. How much is a toe drag? How much is doing something switch over doing something Nollie? Skateboarding still has a long way to go.

This is all fine but without a metric of actual numbers, equations and public data its still 0-100 gut impression just in a 4x0-25 (and you dont even know how much wheighs what)

i don't normally comment on a youtube video, cause i don't have the app. so i always have to login to like or describe!! but i made an exception tonight. i don't understand how this only has 400 views, and world skate sb only 4k subscribers(however, i will subscribe now since i'm logged in). anyway, if i may offer some insight to whomever will listen @nealmims....i want to watch everything olympic skateboarding. unfortunately, i don't know how to search for it. i can never find the schedule of contests or the video until it's too late. might be a branding problem: cause everytime i type olympics, wst, world skate, qualifiers or training facility i get almost nothing. how do these athletes even know where the contests are???? please help me IOC!!

Style and creativity needs to be more of a factor in judging. This is skateboarding. It’s not all about just doing the hardest possible tricks because that’ll ultimately hole people into a certain style of skateboarding. if Guys like Louie Lopez , franky villainy and even mark suciu were given more room shine in this type of environment, I think these contest would be waaaaaay more fun and interesting to watch.

All looks good in theory but why not making scoring system more transparent? It's been this way for years in figure skating. You get a Technical Elements score and Presentation score plus Deductions at the end of each run. That way everything is clear and you can see exactly how everything was judged. Right now everybody including skaters is in the dark. This is why you're getting comments not only from fans but also from contestants themselves on your instagram criticizing how they were being scored. More transparency is definitely needed.

Speaking on behalf of this Should pick some americans(for instance those of us in SLC, Utah live int the most isolated major metropolis in the continental United States and world besides a couple Sea barring isles... for a program like this think of more unlikely populations other "well off" citizens people havent seen a good contest in Utah that wasnt my friends and their painstaking effort since World Skate was last here
