The top left "direct" button and any voice that is panned to the centre.
Awesome interview and I appreciate the explanations. Thanks to both of you
That's great! We're glad that you enjoyed it. There are lots more interviews to come 😁
uhm i hear a little character thats fine but uhm i prefer hand automations and then later maybe compressor but did you ever hear music without compressor hehehe it sound very big no holding backs but safe , i mean why you try to be surgical it is just gain later compressor then only for that character , love your videos bless you

this doesn't do anything
It could be improved
I've only used OpenVino, but I typicaly use it to split a stereo vocal channel and move each channel slightly left or right. Then combine them back into a stereo channel, reduce amplification and put it back into the original mix for a nice, heavenly vocal chorus effect. But not sure how well OpenVino compares to other stem splitters.
I've never used OpenVino but I'm intrigued. I like this workflow as it demonstrates a creative use of stem splitting. Have you got any other interesting use cases? Thanks for sharing :)
@MarcMatthewsProducer OpenVino also has a super resolution feature that works well enhancing tracks for some clarity. It was designed for images but works well with audio in Audacity. It has a music generation feature, too, that I haven't tried yet. It is open source by Intel and available for Audacity. I haven't used it for anything else yet, but I wish it could extract guitar tracks. As a guitarist, it would be nice to be able to isolate guitar tracks from my AI works, rip them out and replace them with my playing 😀
I just got home and testing the music generation feature. It seems very basic and allows for prompting but we'll see how the finished results are. You can define track length and rgenerate using a seed. It looks like it has a function that allows for extending an existing track also. I don't have an NVIDIA GPU so its CPU bound on my machine, so it is slow going hehe
Meh, just as I thought very basic and so repetitive it was near annoying. That could change in the future I guess. The OpenVino noise suppression tool is awesome too. You don't need to select a bit of noise in a track for reference, you can run it on an entire track. It works well for spoken audio, but I'm not sure about music. I do have a sample song I can try it on that was over produced/enhanced and has some noise in places as a result.
It's a no on the noise suppression for music hehe. It also has a transcription feature so I tested it as well and not too bad. It had a few words wrong, but overall it did an acceptable job since the song I tested it on is fairly up tempo with lots of intended noise (but I call that the sweet sound of distorted electric guitars! hehe)
The best way to use these stem separators for the instrumental parts, is after separating, convert the audio parts to MIDI and reprocess the sound with your virtual instruments or outboard gear. Get as close to same sound or better.
This is a great move. Thanks for sharing 👍
@ You’re welcome.

you could always cancel a bounce just CMD. (:
I didn't know that until it was shown in the bounce window. We're always learning 😁
Some interfaces have a good enough pre amp, however the cloud lifter gives you a lot more room for creativity.
Thanks for sharing. The Cloud Lifter does provide more recording flexibility.
thank you!

They all fall short until they create one that actually separates without artifacts and actually pull all the identical information, they will always sound cheap
There's the challenge. Let me know when you solve it.
LOVE YOU
🤜🤛
Did it too fast. I don’t see an option for mixing. You need to show the actions. Not show when u already have it on there smdh😂 lazy teacher
I know, right? I should be fired and stripped of my teacher status.
@ lol next time show the steps or just don’t post it😂
@BEATZ_BY_LEE, consider it done
Love this plugin. I often used it on bass tracks that lack sub frequencies. Will try it on kicks! Thanks.
Glad you like it!
Subfilter is really handy, and as it's free it's a no-brainer. I use it's big brother the 'Subsynth' quite a lot, bit of a beast.
Agreed! Subsynth is a beast of a plugin as you say, I regularly use it on synth-bass. A great shout 👍
Sorry but it was punchier before definitely.. in the second version the kick has less attack and definition
No apologies, necessary. Thanks for sharing your opinion 👍
The reason is because the extra sub added on the kick overloads the limiter which reduces the level and transient information. To maintain perceived punch some other things need to be done, but it can be done. The thing is that there is way too much sub on the kick and all it actually needed was just a tiny +1 or 2db boost on the sub that was already there in the kick. Some other EQing would be helpful too, cutting some stuff from the low mids and the mids. But that's a story for another day. Bottom line, too much sub will mess everything up.
@@madsonit lots to agree with here, thanks for sharing
@@madsonit exactly..the excess of low end is what makes it weaker.. I personally don't believe in "magic" plug ins.. a well thought through use of eq and comp will always rule.. 😉
@ sure, but sometimes you might want to just add a sinewave sub underneath with a certain amp envelope. Yeah, you could technically do it with extreme eq and clip gaining but it’s not ideal.
how to get 80s synth pop bass?
A great recommendation. I've added it to my list, watch this space...
@ where?
@@lepagenirvelli5522 I've not created the video yet, but will do soon
Well, my problem is I think that many kicks are too punchy, and limiters/compression makes them sound like garbage....
What's your workflow in this scenario? My initial thought process is to reach for an enveloper or transient shaper to manipulate the attack portion of the kick.
@@jakobole the only golden rule is to find the right kick with enough low end and punch to begin with and trying it in the song.. what eq efx or comp you might apply afterwards don't matter, trust me.. in italy we say.. you don't get pears from an apple tree 😉
Thanks bruh
🫡

Another fantastic episode. Loved the discussion around reverb / delay
Thanks, mate, and thanks for sharing your win with us! We've decided on a monthly version of this format 🤜🤛
Nice to see the joining of minds, occasionally I’m actually using a similar process in aspects of the mix which means I guess I’m doing something right😂
Thanks, dude. It's great that you're using a similar process. Loving your releases in 2024. Long may it continue in 2025!
@@MarcMatthewsProducerthanks Marc
I’m sure you’re doing plenty right. And keeping up releasing, putting loads of new material out which is fantastic.
@@opusrecordingstudios thanks Tim
Great video 🙏🏽 does the doubler usually make the vocals phase in mono? I remember using a stock logic plugin and in stereo sounded beautiful but in speakers and my phone was phasing horribly 😢 Also, is the doubler similar to a stereo imager? I’m having trouble with that
Thanks, buddy! I haven't experienced phasing issues in mono with Doubler. I think Doubler could be considered a stereo imager, as it allows you to manipulate the stereo placement of a duplicated audio signal, effectively widening the stereo image of a track.

THANK YOU!!!
You're welcome 👍
I believe your knobs for attack and release are backwards. The lower values indicate faster attack and release time. They need to go counterclockwise if you want the compressor to respond faster.
Check out this official UAD 1176 blog post: "Note that the Attack and Release controls of the 1176 work in the opposite direction of many other compressors (i.e. turning the knobs toward their higher values actually shortens attack and release times)" www.uaudio.com/blog/1176-collection-tips/ What are your thoughts?
You really should stay out of it if you don't know what your talking about.. and especially if this offends you. lol
Hearing his workflow for getting project sessions from clients is amazing. I just started taking this approach for mixes and it saves so much time. I’d never even considered it for mastering, yet it makes so much sense the way he explains it here.
Great to hear!

а разве атака у 1176 не 1 должна быть? или 2 мс, слишком сильно задавили
An attack of 1 is the slowest attack and would let the initial transient through. Here I wanted to catch the loud peaks with a fast attack (all the way right).
doesnt work with autotune vocals , doesnt sound nice at all with raw vocal 2
You win some, you lose some - it's really a chorus effect. Try the Waves or Izotope Doubler.
Guys the biggest question that nobody is talking about is what can Ai mastering do for re mastering old music, great music that wasn’t recorded well or mastered well or mono what about all that music that was recorded for decades with increased volume, what about Vinyl recording with all the pops and skips, could Ai re vitalise Audiophiles and give new life to some of the best music ever created but poorly finished?
A very valid point and great topic of conversation. As AI improves and it will continue to do so, it's going to open up a wealth of possibilities and could reinvigorate archive audio.
