Shobana, absolute god mode in this dance. 💙

Every single thing about this song is perfect. Shobhana is just amazing here, her dance as an inexperienced dancer emulating a real dancer, her dance as the royal courts best dancer and her dance as she falls in love. Props to the male dancer/actor, even though shobhana was the main highlight here, he was able to match her energy as a non dancer trying to lure shobhana and how he portrays that through dance in her delusion. The music also does not dissapoint. I'm so impressed by the flexibility of Chitra's voice as a crazy person, then as a professional singer in the royal court and finally her voice as she's falling in love. I love how sweetly she sings in the last part and even when you close your eyes you can literally hear her love and affection in that part. I love that they chose Yesudas to sing the male part because his voice sounds very ideal, attractive and sweet and even though his part was small, it was super convincing and paired very well as the voice of the lover. I respect the music director for respecting the requirements of the story and scene by only assigning a small part for Yesudas because he is such a great singer that they could make the mistake of giving him a bigger part. Even though that would have sounded good, I'm glad they didn't because it makes more sense cinematically for his part to be short and at the end. Everyone that was involved in this movie made it a masterpiece. Watching this as a kid gave me nightmares but when I now watched it again as an adult I'm thoroughly mind blown by the supreme quality of this movie. It's no wonder that this is a classic.
