You should get a Nano VNA! They are just as cheap as your SWR Meter! Your antenna should be very resonant because KB9VBR is a great maker but you just never know.

This video was my introduction to KB9VBR antennas. I had no idea about any of this, especially what a J pole was haa. I am new to GMRS. I watched your video twice, a few more videos on the same antenna on UA-cam and then made purchase myself. I had a custom made LMR240 Ultraflex 50 ohm 35 foot cable made by MPD Digital with a 259 connector and a SMA female on the other end. This works great with my handhelds. This J pole works SO well that I am able to connect to 2 repeaters now, when before I couldn't reach any. Thanks for the video, it was a massive help and is very much appreciated! I am regularly talking to people 40-50ish or more miles away now, as we are on opposite ends of the range of the repeater that's 30 miles away from me.

How long did it take for you to receive your Antenna? I ordered one on April 12 and today is April 22, seems its been shipped all around the Usa from WI to Portland Oregon... once again on this past Saturday said its still stilling in the UPS Facility in Fort Worth, TX... seems the Delivery Systems are going down the Chit Hole. Also, have you done a continuity test on the PL-259 Connecter after installing - does it show a Short when testing? Also what type Cable are you using from the Antenna to inside?

Instead of clicking the buttons, can you not simply hold the arrow button and let it advance on its own? Love that the top controls are stiff to turn, my Baofengs turn so freely that they're a nuisance if the radio is in a pocket... Can't you input the FM broadcast freq directly when the search gets close to what you want? I have the UV9GX, few reviews on it. Looking for basic operating instructions. I have 2 Wouxuns (one's an AM-FM CB) and this one since I'm mainly interested in GMRS. Have several (14) Baofengs, and 5 Uniden scanners. Good to see people tinkering and discovering the technical aspects of the radio world. Antennas are something that needs to be checked on an individual basis (check each one) to see if there is too much VWSR as QC is an issue these days. A bad antenna can burn out your radio by reflecting too much of that power back to the transmitter. Keep up the good work ! Sub’d

You need a hand mic.

You can get yourself one of those retevis RT 91 and turn that HT into a bonofied base station with you getting 5 5 and a half watts out of this HT you should get closer to 40

You just need a GMRS license if you want to use these. $35, no test required. If you already have your FRN then it just takes a few minutes.

You should do a video of how to program a repeater in the radio because I don't know how to do it .

2.5 loves the 31 inch tires. It helps maintain drivability to and from the trails. I prefer the 2.5 with the AC delete because I can touch or repair basically anything compared to modern vehicles. Mine has a tick and I'm still working on finding it after replacing most of the guts. But j would never paint the plastic on the interior.😊
