This track was inspired by the sight of our electrical power lines sparking and smoking in a torrential storm! The local cockatoos had been chewing the lines! What would we do without electricity?

My subscribers are either into sharks or guitar music so I thought I'd combine the two with this effort! This one took a while as I had to get my chops up to speed. The title is just for fun, these beautiful creatures are just like big puppies, wouldn't hurt a fly! :-) Special thanks to HaRu music for the wonderful Guthrie Govan style rock fusion backing track! ua-cam.com/video/BQxP1BT5FuY/v-de...

No, I've never been there, but what a fascinating period in history! Imagine what the pyramids would have looked like when they were first built and knowing what the hieroglyphic symbols are saying. Built to last till the end of time. How did they do it? Antigravity technology? We'll never know. Hope you enjoy my sound track.

As a teenager I had the privilege of having guitar lessons from one of Australia's great jazz players, George Golla. I still remember those intimate lounge room sessions where George and Don Andrews would play for students of the Academy of Guitar, wow! Hearing those two cool cats trading licks and having fun really opened my mind to jazz and introduced me to the wonderful world of jazz guitar....

This was inspired by the great sounding Bossa backing track found at the link below. I've always loved bossa beats and this track just wrote itself. I'm also trying out my new NUX Solid Studio which made it a breeze to find the tones I was looking for without disturbing the neighbours. A great piece of kit if you need to record silently or at low volumes. A huge thank you to these guys for the ...

A chillout piece for the end of the year. I think we all need some relaxation music after 2022, it's been a hell of a year! Some shots from my recent holiday in Tahiti on the magical island of Moorea. Yes, the water really is that aquamarine blue and so clear.

I have a 1983 Strat Elite with a FreeFlyte trem. The problem with this guitar is that there's no rear access. Other than a battery compartment, the back of the guitar is solid wood. You have to take off the strings, the pickguard, the bridge pickup, and the dummy coil to get at the springs and the claw plate. The claw plate sits parallel to the pickguard with three pairs of screw holes for different string tension, which the manual refers to as .010, .009 and .008. On a normal strat, a quarter turn of the claw-plate screws can make a difference to whether the bridge floats or sits flat to the body. On the Elite, moving the plate from .010 to .009 or from .009 to .008 seems to be the equivalent of about five full turns of the screws on a normal Strat. So you either end up with the bridge flat to the body or the bridge sitting up at about 30 degrees. As you can imagine, experimenting with different settings and different gauges of strings (I've tried a lot of combinations), when each change requires what looks like open-heart surgery, is not easy. Is the Strat you're playing here a more traditional design, with a back plate that allows you to easily access the springs and claw?

Thanks for your feedback and question Phil. This is a 1983 USA built Fender Strat Elite, however, I swapped the active pickups for a set of Kinman Woodstock noiseless and also the neck as I had worn out the frets! This meant getting a custom pickguard made as the Elite pickups are a different size to standard Strat pickups. Yes, you do have to do open-heart surgery to adjust the springs to the correct string gauge. I just use standard 9 to 42 gauge strings and the claw is set for .009 gauge. To set the tremolo to float is tricky and you must follow the procedure in the manual exactly. I have since had the frets replaced on the original neck and put it back on as it's super thin and suits my hands.

Very-very nice !!! I love this tune from Jan Akkerman ! But since I have been looking for years to find the correct tab of this tune , it has proved to me without any decent result !!!There are unfortunately quite a few (one or two) which they have some mistakes !!! Where did you find how to play that so precisely ??? Do you have any available tab sir ???I am interested if so . Thank you in advance !!!

That sounds very good! I wish I had it! That tremolo has a fair bit more sustain than the vintage six-screw tremolo I have. Right now I don't even use it (it's blocked) because I can't stand the factory setup. So, I'm going to try a Hipshot Tremsetter to see if that will alleviate some of the problems with it.
