Creating the "Fireplace Made of Books" at Philbrook Log Cabin - A timelapse from Karl Unnasch Art
This timelapse video lends a glimpse into public artist Karl Unnasch’s laborious creation of the “fireplace of books” contained within his larger-scale ethereal work, “Slumgullion” (2018). Located on the Grounds of the Philbrook Museum of Art in Tulsa, Oklahoma, “Slumgullion (The Venerate Outpost)” is a walk-through installation created within the shell of a reclaimed 19th-century log cabin incorporating various forms of stained glass, art glass and resin-bonded textiles - and featuring this “fireplace of books” with glowing tchonk glass “flames” as its centerpiece.
