That old girl is pretty tired…I believe that’s the series after the old Cat 200 series and before the newer 300 series…I think they still ran the old hydraulic tech on those machines where the pumps would destroke on pressure rather than volume like the old 200 series used to do and they would haul the engine right down…I could be wrong…the newer pumps today are so much more efficient and make the engine burn way less fuel!..the best thing to do with these old machines if you are unable to take them straight to the junkyard, I’d get a bit more distance from your work so that you can have your stick and boom closer to 8 and 4 o’clock…that’s where most of her power is and seeing how low she is on power he needs all the help he can get!
