Kiko is my favorite guitarist, next to Friedman, in Megadeth. Get to the PURE metal/blues/spanish complex, that is Kiko, and Guthrie, doesnt have a paryr. Don't get me wrong, Guthrie is great, but he couldn't be a soloist in a metal band...

It's almost like kikos guitar was encouraging him to give up for him. 🤣 Just joking. In all seriousness kiko did very well and seems to be able to prove himself as a player. That being said Guthrie is in his own class of players altogether. I feel like the most impressive musicians are thoughs who are a combination of versatile and technically refined. Guthrie is probably mostly known for his ability to improvise. But he's also a very technically capable player. Paul Gilbert is an example of a player who can hold his own with Guthrie. Pauls a very versatile player and generally comes off as being genuine in the sense that he doesn't let ego get in the way. He just enjoys playing. No matter if its with a beginner or someone like Guthrie. Not many can sincerely do so without ego. Guitarist are known for being very egotistical and arrogant. So its a relief when theres guys who are virtuosic players without that nonsense. Just consider someone like Yngwie. The guys no doubt an incredible player. No one denies his ability. But hes more or less a one trick pony in my opinion. He's really good at what he does (neoclassical shredding/phygian stuff) but lack versatility. Then you add on his ego and it makes him repulsive as a person. Who would want to jam with him knowing his likely just looking down at you? If you ever do get the opportunity to play with him just don't bring donuts. He's not a fan from what ive heard. Anyway, kiko did awesome. Guthrie doesn't need any explanation. Hes simply a musician's musician.

I love Guthrie govan but yer man Kiko Loureiro is new to me but I prefered his more 'melodic' style of playing

Only thing that would have been worse: guy brings out chair, Kiko walks back and trips over it knocking himself out cold. Guthrie isn't quite sure what to do.

Fun idea, Kiko should have smashed his guitar after it fell. Would have made a crazy moment even crazier. :)
