Epiphone VS Gibson longevity
Переглядів 853 роки тому
How much value are your really getting when you choose a glossy import over a plain USA guitar. Looks and fell are not the only things we should look at when selecting a guitar. Ive personally repaired more Gibsons and Epiphones than I can count, this is my take on which way to go for the thrifty consumer.

Q's Stringed Instruments one of a kind winter themed mandolin.
belli, complimenti
You sir, make gorgeous axes. The round hole in particular calls to me. Cheers.
Bass is good in the oval but over all I like the full range and treble of the f
Can you attach a link to your store?
Hi, I don’t have a formal store for mandolins. I only make instruments based on orders. I’ve mostly been doing more intricate wood carvings now to satisfy my artistic side. More than happy to make a mandolin though. Reach me through mcdannaldwoodworks.com.
Thanks great tremolo !!!
second one with oval hole is more pleasant but both without bass
is it possible for you to compare oval hole mandolins a vs f frame. because i bought a oval hole f frame but i have wanted to know if there is a big difference between the two, like there is with the f hole models
My advice is to play one of each kind and determine yourself.
OOOh my.
I hear a load ringing metal sound
nothing personal, but I am glad I skip over the talking. I wish people would edit comments on these comparisons to the bare minimum of words. self-deprecating comments do not replace the time spent listening to them
This guitar has a cool vibe to it. Worn white is a great touch! Maybe next time use some Kluson tuners? I love the sound of the pickups. Nice!
The hair!
are you gonna return it for store credit
nice mandolin did you make it?
Are those light guage strings ?
oh its been a while so I can't remember I usually string them up first with lights though. mediums of course are a bit stronger.
@@quintonmcdannald2327 Thanks for answering.
They all sound great!
which one is easy to play....???
Neither are easy to play.
I like them both to be honest. I think much would depend on the music you pley, for instance if you play bluegrass, country style music the F hole would be a better choice but if , like me, you play a lot of Celtic and classical music then the oval hole would definitely be the mandolin of choice. I have tried both styles and I find that when playing bluegrass I dont get the high, ringing tone my loved in the music , but ,with the oval hove sounds much better on Celtic music. Also , and yes I know this is more about hand position than anything, however, my fingers get caught in the F hole when playing Celtic on it and not in the oval.
I think the same. Thank you.
Really dig the pointed scroll. Don't think I have seen that elsewhere. All else being equal, I think the A had a fatter tone, F had less low and more attack. I know this is what everyone says about this comparison every time but. eh. No one can really explain it, except maybe scroll and points just give it a little extra mass? Or maybe the F just SEEMS punchier because its a narrower range of frequencies so more focused? Dunno. I am playing a chinese Eastman and lusting after Colings A-styles at the moment. You're doing nice work!
The smaller F hole opening produces a higher definition of tone in much the same way a smaller aperture on a camera or a squinting of the eyes produces a clearer more hi-def picture. I bet you could get a combo of both within the same mandolin. The F hole one sounds to my ear like it’s 3 times as pricey as the O hole one based on sound quality. The O is far more muddled.
This invented controversy means next to nothing. If you like your mandolin, play it!
Oval better
Team F.
Yep. There's a trade off with a scarf joint. You avoid the weak point, but yeah you get a different set of problems. I think the fix for Gibsons is to just take care of the damned thing.
This is awesome
Damn!! you build greaat stuff!! Love the Christmas Song snippet.
came here for Vivaldi but wasn't disappointed
Quinton, these are gorgeous. Great job, I'd love to play one or ten. :D
Why did you decide to go with Tele-style saddles instead of bridges with 6 independently adjustable saddles?
Why not, it's twangy? There is something inherently right about it to me when you go with TV Jones or tele pickups to get those big brass saddles under the strings. These compensated saddles really get you there, not perfect, but there.
Absolutely beautiful instrument. Great work!
Cé koi ? Whatiziz ?
Q, I really like your invention!!!! You are so talented!
Wow guys!!!! I'm really impressed!!! I love the stick Q and Randy you were fabulous!!!
Very cool Quinton!
Very expressive! nice guitar.

Awesome, very cool! I have messed around with different percussion mallets and such, but this is Great, and I will definitely be purchasing one ASAP. Thanks!
In KC, I can hook you up with the builders number if you like. My contact info can be found at the website listed in the video description.
Are these guitars made in MO? I live in Springfield and would love to check them out sometime.
So I guess that's your friend in the wood chipper...
GOLF!
Thanks man!
Very cool!
I have been approach by a few physical therapist about that. We are currently looking for someone to try it on. It would be wonderful to help someone play guitar again.
This could have uses for amputees who want to play the guitar.
I feel the same way about lot of things, polo shirts, smart cars, golf, and lawn care. Then again a lot of people find enjoyment in the stupidest things, so have fun with life a little and do something different.
This is a stupid idea.
We just posted a video of Kashmir is your are interested.
Awesome!
Thank you, I have a lot of fun with it.
